Mounjaro October starters

Hi,
I've taken the plunge and ordered Mounjaro through MedExpress. My prescription was accepted today and as long as it arrives in time I plan to start on Thursday (my birthday is on Wednesday 😂😂). I thought I would start a thread for any new starters if anyone is interested 😊

How long after the first injection do people start to see their appetite surpress?

Varies with each person, I've only done Wegovy but some don't get any until they're on the higher dose.
I was always very lucky and had no appetite within a few hours.

I took my first shot of Mounjaro at 12.30 today and don't feel hungry at all now even though I've only eaten a packet of crisps and half a pot noodle for dinner and have no desire to snack whereas I'm usually picking in the evenings.

Thank you everyone, I have done it! Injection was so much easier and more painless than I thought! Thanks for the encouragement, I’m strapped in for the ride now!

@yummycookie sorry had a v busy evening! Everyone in bed now so planning to do it soon. I feel like I won't totally be able to get my head round the instructions until I'm actually doing it. It seems like there are so many stages and therefore so many opportunities for it to go wrong!

I saw the October thread and I wanted to gatecrash for a moment. I was a February starter. I’ve lost 4 stone 10 lbs and I took my final dose of MJ two weeks ago after titrating down.

I just wanted to wish everyone the best on their journey. I’m so grateful I saw the first thread and jumped in. Nervously of course. Everyone embarking now has so much more info than we did back then. It’s all come on so much since then.

I took my first injection last Sunday, haven’t snacked, but they appetite suppression is lower than I expected, but it does varies from person to person. I do wonder if it’s all in my head. I’m at a hotel this evening and the chocolate biscuits are tempting, but my head is saying no, it’s not good for you. Perhaps when I move up to the higher dose it will kick in more or maybe after the 2nd dose? Who knows, it’s all new to me 🤣

i bet you feel a million dollars. What dose did you go to in the end? I read some people don’t go to the highest dose?
Any tips? I’m not having much side effects as yet, it’s been 4.5 days since first dose.

I took my first dose yesterday and I’ve got a stinking headache tonight. I’ve drank lots more than usual today so it’s not that. It could just be coincidence as I think I’ve been getting mid cycle hormonal headaches this year (possibly peri related as I’m 43).

It finally arrived and first dose taken! Off to bed now as have a busy tomorrow. Will update tomorrow evening.

That’s a very good price! Planning on keeping it a secret too - if I’m ever approved it’s taking an age!

@JulesK17 i did two months on 2.5. 5 wasn’t actually available when I ordered my second pen. 😂 I did two 5, two 7.5 and one 10.

It took a long time to get used to the change in the mirror. But I absolutely feel so much better physically and mentally.

Drink lots of water. Prioritise protein. Don’t restrict too hard and try and keep all food groups in.

Constipation does happen. Keep on top of it before you get impaction!

I wish I had lost weight slower if I’m honest as it may have stopped some of the sagging I have. I also would have not freaked about stalls so much. I think so many of us have “failed” so many diets we are worried it will be the stall that makes us reach for crap.

Really use your time on MJ to reset your normals. Get exercising. Walk more. The food noise does come back, but it’s a lot easier to manage at 9 and a half stone and think well, you just need water, Flappy. Shut up brain!

Oh no !

I am on Day 5 and it was definitely 3 days of strong headaches despite drinking plenty of water. Hang in there!

Finally done it! Working from home tomorrow but might stop at the supermarket after the school run to stock up on some diarrhoea, constipation stuff etc just in case!

It came really quickly and everything was perfect and as it should be. It was packed in icepacks and then insulated with wool. Delivery was with ‘DX’ and was completely smooth. I could track it on a map and they left it in a secure area -no need for me to be home. Good luck 🍀

@FlappyFish thanks so much for dropping in. Really reassuring to hear how it went for you. Congrats on your weight loss, that’s just amazing. Imagine all those lovely festive season outfits you can get into!

can you recommend anything for constipation? Does it happen even if you drink lots of water?

I'm collecting mine from Boots tomorrow - excited but quite nervous about side effects..

What do people think is the best time to inject - before bed or during the day?

@ShineyHappyPeeple im with Voy and they recommended evening to take the edge of initial side effects (as you will be asleep). No idea if codswallop or not!!

Haven't read the full thread, but re food noise, I pretty much went deaf straight away. I started Monday. Normally, I would be nibbling while I do dinner, stopped that. My fruit stays in my bag till lunchtime and so on. I even took a cake to work. Tried a tiny (to make sure it was okay) slice and left it alone after that, whereas before there would be more 'slivers'.... phat slivers!

@DandelionPockets no insomnia here but I was absolutely shattered anyway, will be my first full day on it today, interested to see how it goes!

So good to read about how everyone is doing and I can’t wait to get started although have to admit I’m anxious about all the side effects. Still waiting to hear from Asda after having to send my photos again! The support on this chat is great so thank you all x
