Mounjaro October starters

Rockfordpeach · 28/09/2024 17:08

Hi,
I've taken the plunge and ordered Mounjaro through MedExpress. My prescription was accepted today and as long as it arrives in time I plan to start on Thursday (my birthday is on Wednesday 😂😂). I thought I would start a thread for any new starters if anyone is interested 😊

Omg INSOMNIA. Anyone else?

Oh no! Hope you got some sleep last night. When did you take your dose? Was it your first - maybe anxiety was keeping you awake about the effects etc.? Hope you’re ok.

loulougall · 04/10/2024 06:48

Mine is being delivered today (woohoo). I'm usually in the office on a Monday and Tuesday and these days can be full on, is it worth starting at the weekend so I can rest up? I don't want to feel even more lethargic than normal!

UpUpUpU · 04/10/2024 07:03

First dose last night. Slept absolutely fine and woke early feeling normal. Slight stomach ache but otherwise fine.

Have a good day everyone xx

FlappyFish · 04/10/2024 07:30

@NearlyAutumnNow i have just taken a senna tablet at night with my other supplements. I’ve also seen others take Psyllium husk.

Lots of water made no difference to me constipation wise. I think digestion just slowed down so much it made it painful quite quickly. My body just doesn’t digest salad at all.

I have really loved reading the posts here. It took me straight back.

invest in lots of blankets and scarves. I’m always bloody freezing now. 😂

hopeishere · 04/10/2024 07:36

I'm also keeping it a secret. I think that is what is stressing me out the most. Ironically the pen is hidden in a Tupperware of lettuce in the fridge 🤣🤣

It's my birthday this week and I have had three meals out so am planning on starting after that!!

RunSlowTalkFast · 04/10/2024 08:20

Slept fine, woke up feeling normal, don't usually have breakfast until after the school run on wfh days anyway so I'll see how I feel after that I guess!

UpUpUpU · 04/10/2024 10:50

I too am keeping it a secret. I did manage to hit a capillary injecting so have a pretty big bruise. Hopefully partner won’t notice ( we don’t live together and my period started today too so he won’t see me naked any time soon) 😂😂😂

Im feeling Ok. Tiny bit of headache and bloating but also PMT. Was a litt robot hungry about 10am so had a banana and feel fine how. Cakes are everywhere on my training day but I’m not interested x

Maggi85 · 04/10/2024 11:23

Not feeling as hungry as I normally do - but it’s not surprised as much as I was expecting so far. Will see if that changes over the weekend.

It hasn’t surprised me as much as I was expecting either-I have been wondering if I’d done the injection properly!

comewhinewith · 04/10/2024 11:43

I've just done my 2nd injection. Not really noticing much difference so far tbh, but I know it's early days.

  • no difference to blood sugar levels
  • not feeling less hungry, although I didn't have a huge appetite before and now rather than not fancying food it makes me nauseous thinking about it

I'm not sure about weight as I don't have scales and am preferring to go off how my clothes fit, so I'll probably not notice that for a while.

DandelionPockets · 04/10/2024 12:09

@EVK it was my second day and I had a big old headache too. So maybe I didn't eat enough or drink enough water!

mjuser · 04/10/2024 12:11

Hi all 👋

I'd like to join if that's OK, I'm due for my 2nd jab tonight and I haven't told anyone I'm doing this, so I could really do with some community!

47F 168cm tall
SW: 81.3kg
GW: 65kg

My BMI is slightly under 30 but I have co-morbidities. I have been as high as 101kg (thanks lockdown!) so although I have less to drop right now than some, I have known what it's like staring down the barrel of 80lbs to lose!

I cleverly (not) managed to coincide my 1st jab with day 1 of my period, so not sure if I've had any side effects, as I usually get headaches. Nothing digestive though, and I've had reduced appetite all week so feeling really positive that this is going to work.

I've decided to weigh the morning following my jab, as I have found weekly weigh-ins can trigger emotional eating - either celebratory treats, or rage-binges if I don't get what I feel I am "owed". So hopefully the fresh dose will stop that from happening.

UpUpUpU · 04/10/2024 12:51

For lunch I packed leftover pizza (literally all I had in until I get to shopping tonight). 3 slices of thin based pizza. I’ve eaten 2 of them and feel full. It’s this I need to think about as I massively overeat and binge without thinking and don’t stop even when I’m not enjoying it anymore or forcing it in 😖

My big test will be this evening and whether I’ll end up bingeing or thinking about it. I’m hoping at the very least it will have a placebo effect or even a guilt about the money I’ve spent and not do it 😂😂

MarshmallowsOnToast · 04/10/2024 13:03

I've been doing great this week, my first week.

No side effects & really good appetite suppression.

This will be my first weekend though & they are always the downfall of my previous diets. Too much nibbling and eating the wrong things.

Just need to stay strong 💪🏻

Good luck everyone x

Rockfordpeach · 04/10/2024 13:07

I've had some crackers with houmous and a tandoori chicken skewer thing for lunch and now I feel a bit sick. There's no way I would have been satisfied by that last week. I don't know if it's the Mounjaro or if it's because my mindset has changed. I know 2.5 isn't supposed to do much but i definitely don't feel like I could eat anything else right now

WeeklyJab · 04/10/2024 14:12

The apetite suppression really did drop off this morning. I didn't eat until noon but I had 2 pieces of toast and 2 eggs (scrambled) which is much more than previous days and I definitely felt quite hungry.

However, it's still there to some degree - I didn't fancy a biscuit with my coffee when offered and I still feel very full 2 hours on from my meal. This is not like my normal life. I also don't have a headache or feel so tired.

If I had any sense I wouldn't be checking the scales until my full week is up... but I couldn't resist. I have lost 3.4kg - half a stone! In my first week - that helps the bear the idea of side effects rather better.

2nd Jab due tomorrow afternoon. I might stretch it to Sunday morning, depending on our plans for the weekend. I don't want to sleep through another Saturday evening.

Wildywondrous · 04/10/2024 14:15

Hi everyone, it's nice to be part of such a big group of new starters.

(I lost just over 50lbs between November and April on Wegovy and back to lose another 40lbs)

I took my first shot just over 24 hours ago and other than having zero appetite I have no side effects so far, I do feel tired but I'm always tired so I can't really tell if there's any difference.

I've had a meal replacement drink so far, I don't plan to follow a meal replacement diet but didn't fancy anything so had that to ensure I'm getting enough nutrition.

YummyCookie · 04/10/2024 14:30

This is the strangest! I just don’t fancy anything at all. Had my usual morning coffee ok. Went for coffee with friends and couldn’t drink it. They both got breakfast but I didn’t want anything. Only just having some toast with Nutella on (it’s my favourite and usually kills the chocolate cravings) and I’m struggling to eat the whole slice.

FlappyFish · 03/10/2024 21:11

I saw the October thread and I wanted to gatecrash for a moment. I was a February starter. I’ve lost 4 stone 10 lbs and I took my final dose of MJ two weeks ago after titrating down.

I just wanted to wish everyone the best on their journey. I’m so grateful I saw the first thread and jumped in. Nervously of course. Everyone embarking now has so much more info than we did back then. It’s all come on so much since then.

Happy losing and reclaiming your life back. Flappy.

Cannot even tell you how motivating this is to read! Thank you so much and congratulations , how are you feeling now off the MJ?

igivein · 04/10/2024 14:47

I just ordered from Medexpress. Uploaded the picture and the prescription was approved 20 minutes later. It says it will be despatched in one working day - so does this mean (if no delays) I'll have it by the middle of next week?
I work from home on Fridays, so was thinking if I took it on Thursday evening any side effects might settle over the weekend. Does this sound like a plan?
Feeling quite nervous, but I'll have to go for it now - it's too expensive not to! Although it has to be said, it'll be cheaper than my current chocolate habit ...

RunSlowTalkFast · 04/10/2024 14:53

Took my first dose at about 10.30 last night. Not a hint of suppression yet 🤷🏻‍♀️

Same - took mine before bed last night and feel totally normal today. No side effects but no suppression either.

Rockfordpeach · 04/10/2024 14:58

I have greater suppression on day two than I did on day one

Glad it's not just me, hoping it'll kick in at some point!

AlwaysReadyForABlether · 04/10/2024 15:08

Great to hear success stories from earlier users.

I’ve had no issues after my first injection - slept well, no side effects - but I’m well aware that can change at any time.

Went to B&M last night to get cat food. Normally that would include a sweep of the chocolate aisle. Didn’t even occur to me to look at it 🤯
