Thank you all!!! Feeling encouraged as well because usually after a pause from the gym I hang onto water and it takes a few days for it to go! So happy!

owlyboo · 08/10/2024 09:08

Yay! Well done @itwasnevermine !!!

I've finally broken my plateau and hit my first "big" goal in nutracheck!!!

Started at 291lbs, now at 263lbs, so that's two stone gone! Very close to 10% off (1lb), and I'm due on my period in the next week or so so usually I'm gaining weight around now! I really can't believe it, I could cry with happiness

That's so lovely to read. I am toasting you with my mug of coffee ☕

pippapumpkin · 08/10/2024 09:23

Well done @itwasnevermine 🙌🏻

itwasnevermine · 08/10/2024 09:41

Thank you!! Celebrating with an hour and a half teams meeting 😴

MargoLivebetter · 08/10/2024 09:51

Wow, @itwasnevermine that is an impressive loss! 👏

And well done on the judgy thread too. There is so much ignorance, it is painful. I commented on one a week or so ago, but I don't have the energy for a lot of them.

I'm opinionated and stubborn, I'm not going to let these peoples ignorance go under the radar

MargoLivebetter · 08/10/2024 10:03

I've trawled my way through the particular horror show that is trending in the weightloss injections section at the moment. It says so much about the posters who are so negative and their outlook on life. They must really hate themselves to project so much hate on others. It is pitiful really.

I'm glad you and others are there to put them straight. Cheats, liars, lazy options, veins full of drugs, anti-feminists ............ - ffs!!!! 😩

Arraminta · 08/10/2024 11:01

The spiteful judging and faux concern reminds me of when DD was born. After a few weeks I decided to bottle feed her and started using the litre cartons of ready made up SMA Gold. A 'friend' accused me of 'laziness and cheating' because I wasn't faffing with the SMA powdered version. She was quite irate about it.

Looking back I think she was cheesed off that I could afford to buy the litre cartons and even worse I didn't feel remotely guilty about it.

AuntieDote · 08/10/2024 11:13

Hi everyone, just surfacing after being so ill for a week with covid. I'm still feeling a bit wiped out but better than I was. I was late with the jab last week, as could not face it on the Monday when I was feeling so rotten, eventually did it on the Wednesday before going back to bed for another 3 days!

So I'll split the difference and do it tonight, then next week back to Mon again, following week back to Sun night.

Still on 5 and suppression has been really strong in the last week, though I think covid has helped with that.

I weighed today for the first time since last week, and had to do a double take. Another 3 lbs down.

So 1 stone 10 lbs lost in total.

SW - 15 stone 2 - BMI 34.2

Current Weight - 13 stone 6 - BMI 30.3

Only need a couple of pounds now to move out of obese and into 'overweight' category. Have also lost over 10% of my body weight now.

It's definitely getting noticeable.

However between perimenopause, all the gut related side effects/ D&V etc, and then covid - I haven't felt well or had any energy in what feels like months now.

I've dialled my HRT right back to the lowest dose, I think I went up too quickly and was contributing to the constant bleeding.

I've started omeprazole, which has massively helped the stomach symptoms/ side effects - between that, taking fybogel every other day, and really good probiotics I feel like fingers crossed I've sorted that issue.

So all I need now is to get over the lingering cold/ covid type symptoms and hopefully I'll be feeling halfway human again.

MissFancyDay · 08/10/2024 11:19

Yay well done @itwasnevermine I'm about halfway to my first goal on Nutracheck, I love that app!!

I dip into those MJ threads that get started on AIBU occasionally, it's interesting to see the prevailing opinions. Still a massive amount of ignorance I see, plus the usual fat and woman shaming. The most ridiculous comments are the ones that are so het up about potential side effects in the far distant future, when we all know the REAL side effects of obesity as we get older.

It's lovely to have a supportive group and to have the few people that know in my life be supportive

I have a pretty good idea who would judge me for using MJ in real life and I enjoy them not knowing to be honest. Onwards and upwards friends.

lookathatbookcase · 08/10/2024 11:24

@AuntieDote Glad to hear you're feeling better, and super-well done on the loss; hope that all of the hormonal tweaking will get you back on track.

On the mega-thread - genuinely incredible. Were the first women who got washing machines seen as feckless slatterns because they didn't have to spend hours miserably manually washing and scrubbing their family's clothes? It's always the same thing - women are born with, and fallen women (fat / ugly / etc) are the greatest sinners of all and must suffer for their sins if they are to ever dream of reaching perfection. It's like nothing's changed since the Middle Ages.

MissFancyDay · 08/10/2024 11:56

@lookathatbookcase Do you know you have reminded me of something, I am in my 60's and my lovely, but very straight laced and Edwardian grandmother ( born in 1902) did have a few disparaging remarks when my mother got her state-of-the-art-twin tub washing machine in the 60s. It didn't do the washing properly apparently.

Same as it's ever been.

It'll always be the way! I remember when my nan would criticise us for using electric toothbrushes for crying out loud! Women will always be shamed

Arraminta · 08/10/2024 13:12

Yes, my Mum was derided by her MIL for using those new fangled disposable nappies when I was a baby.

Azuresky68 · 08/10/2024 13:18

Oh dear..been reading through the latest here. I agree with all the comments. Why can't some women be nice to others? It's really horrible. Completly off topic of weight loss but I had a bad experience yesterday..I bumped into a friend of my friend, if that makes sense? She started bad mouthing the friend in common, and I spoke up robustly about it in defence of the friend. Our mutual friend is such a lovely warm person, and most people really take to as soon as they meet her. The woman I bumped into is very opinionated and confident she is right. It really upset me, and I wanted to tell the friend about it but decided that would hurt her... still left me feeling pissed off. Hope you don't mind the off-topic comments. I meant to come back here today because I am really struggling with nausea on 5 mg and just needed a bit of sympathy, to be honest. 3rd 5 mg injection, then I am going up to 7.5 after I finish 5 mg. Steady weight loss of 1.5 pounds a week, but sickness makes me want to eat and is draining my energy. Hoping that the nausea stops on 7.5 mg 🙏

itwasnevermine · 08/10/2024 13:23

For anyone after a case for travelling with MJ, I got this for £11 in the prime day sales!

@Azuresky68 sorry about your rubbish experience :( people are so rude these days

owlyboo · 08/10/2024 14:13

People are idiots... I can't understand how if you're never tried something you feel you have the authority to speak on it when actual doctors are singing its praises...

Wish me luck I'm about to do a weight training session for the first time in AGES! Moved all my weights in from the shed where I chucked them when I moved and made a proper space in my bedroom. Brought a nice bench to store them all on, including my bar and step. Going to start off light, include some lunges/squats (as I have literally no arse 😂)

Also annoyingly haven't been approved for my MJ yet that I ordered yesterday which is really annoying as I ordered Monday to try to avoid the dreaded Saturday post! Fingers crossed it gets approved and posted soon!!

Blondeshavemorefun · 08/10/2024 14:46

Some People never have issues with their weight

I do think it is something to do with dna

My mum god bless her was always overweight or prob obese (whispers like me) till got cancer and chemo stripped her of weight

She died a couple of months after surviving cancer /chemo but was slim then

Wonder if a decade on would she still be slim

FlappingMadly · 08/10/2024 14:48

Wowsers, that thread was a car crash.
I was going to jump in but really couldn’t be bothered to take them on. Very unpleasant comments.

Timetochange24 · 08/10/2024 15:00

Sorry to hear about your mum @Blondeshavemorefun

I completely agree about weight and body shape being linked to DNA. I used to lust after my auntie's tall, willowy figure. I'm a completely different shape to her (short, muscular) so it was never going to happen. I thought if I dieted enough I could make it happen. Now I can see the difference in my two dd's. The tall willowy one is the less active sugar fiend and the short muscular one eats the most balanced diet imaginable and does a lot of sport. The tall one couldn't put on weight if she tried - doesn't mean she'll be healthy on the inside if she lives off takeaways and pizza, but she'll be perceived as healthy because she's slim.

@FlappingMadly I didn't get to the end. Reminds me why I'm keeping quiet about MJ and staying wrapped up in baggy jumpers until spring.

MissFancyDay · 08/10/2024 15:35

I think that the reasons that we gain weight are as many and varied as we are. I have always found it relatively easy to lose weight, calories in verses energy expenditure has always worked for me, but it always goes right back on and some extra for good luck.

I think my problem is much more mentally related, I use food as comfort and as a treat, and it stems from an assault in my early twenties. Coupled with the fact that Dh is a big man who loves his Guinness, and I just can't say no!

Now though, I'm 66, I'm fed up with the struggle. I want to lose the weight, get my knees fixed, keep the weight steady for a good few months so that my body learns a new set point, and I'm going to do all this with the help of MJ.

The fact that it's costing money, our precious savings, is also a BIG factor in why I think that it will be successful for me this time.

Those people on that thread boil my piss.

owlyboo · 08/10/2024 15:36

Sorry to hear about your mum @Blondeshavemorefun Flowers

I did my circuit, mixture of weights, squats, lunges and some floor work...only did 30 mins but I really enjoyed it! Realised how much I'd missed it. Blasted the tunes, set up the circuit timer and really lost myself in it. Aiming to do it three times a week alongside my walking. Hopefully it'll help a bit with loose skin... probably not but one can hope!

FlappingMadly · 08/10/2024 15:37

@owlyboo go for it! I do power skips, dead lunges and skaters cos google told me they’re good for a flat bum.Time will tell…🤣

Sorry you’ve been feeling rubbish @AuntieDote and congrats on loss! 💃💃

Well done on loss too! @itwasnevermine 💃💃

Gosh some people are odd @Azuresky68 Sorry you’re feeling rubbish. Maybe you do need to eat! Are you eating enough?
