Well I was all over the place with indecision last night…

Was due to jab, but thought I might delay because suppression was really strong. Then had a really grazey day where I wanted lots of things, so thought I might jab on time after all.

I really really fancied a bit of chocolate and a glass of gin, so I got myself settled down on the sofa with a treat. But the chocolate was too sweet and not enjoyable, so went in the bin. I thought maybe a bag of crisps instead, they were better, but I couldn’t finish the pack, they also went in the bin. Even my lovely gin stopped being enjoyable after a few sips. I felt full, and slightly nauseous, so that went down the sink.

I think what I’m saying, in my very rambling way, is that even when you think it’s worn off, it can still be there a bit, working on the background.

In the end I went to bed without jabbing. I’ll have my dose this evening (one day late).

I’m fast loosing interest in the calorie tracking though, all of you that manage to weigh out everything have impressive patience. I’m ok during the day, with my breakfast and lunch, but it’s such a faff when cooking a family meal.

MissFancyDay · 26/09/2024 07:23

@ChunkyMunky I didn't put it very well, I meant that it is because I am being very careful with calories that I am losing weight, it's not because my appetite is particularly suppressed on the 5mg. I could easily eat double that.

However it's working well enough that I am not tempted to raid the crisp cupboard or drink wine. Both my previous downfalls, so I probably will stick with 5mg for at least another month (5 weeks)

Willowy1982 · 26/09/2024 07:44

Had my first 5mg last night and pleased to report nothing unpleasant or weird so far. I'm 5lbs off my first goal weight. Which just feels amazing, this stone would not shift the past year despite exercising and trying to be in calorie deficit. It just seems to have melted away on mj. I think it's because I've not had any sweet stuff, my daily chocolate, cakes and coffees when out and about etc. I've just not wanted them and it's these things despite my best efforts which were always ever so slightly taking me out of deficit, not to mention the cravings and food noise to want them. I'll still have another 2 stone or so to go bit my first milestone is in sight. Well done everyone!

WitchDancer · 26/09/2024 07:50

Found you again. Thank you for the new thread

WitchDancer · 26/09/2024 08:00

I'm really not feeling well at all. I've a belly full of wind and am feeling really sick, plus the sulphur burps are back too. I'm not sleeping either. It would be worth it if I was loosing weight but I'm not.

I daren't go up another dose so I'm stuck wondering whether to stay on 5 or knock this on the head completely. I'm not going to make any decisions right now though as I've got another dose plus my bonus to go.

MissFancyDay · 26/09/2024 00:37

I'm checking in...still dithering about whether to go up to 7.5mg next month or stay on 5mg for another pen.

I've got about another 5 stones to lose so I am in this for a long time and I am really don't want to progress up the strengths too fast leaving me with nowhere to go in six months or so. I am losing slowly on 5mg, about 2lbs a week, but it is only because I am staying under 1200 cals a day.

But if I order another 5mg it will be about 7 weeks (using bonus dose) until I can go up to 7.5mg and will the effects wear off. I'm torn.

Tbh 2lbs a week is good and normal so if you have losses on 5 and don't feel hungry /suppressed stay on it

Oh @WitchDancer - can you count clicks and do 2.50 instead of 5 or even 3.75?

Azuresky68 · 26/09/2024 09:11

Morning everyone. My wrigh in for week 5 is Saturday and I am on 5 mg. I know this has been asked loads but I can't find a search function on Mumsnet (a newbie here) Never taken a laxative in my life but I have 'the problem'! I am taking magnesium, eating cabbage and drinking plenty of water. Thinking I need a supplement that's not a laxative. Any low cost recommendations gratefully received - was wondering about fibre gimmes or fibrogel? Have a great day and keep the faith!

Senokot tablets work for me - or prunes / prune juice. both are pretty gentle

4pink1blue · 26/09/2024 09:31

Checking in for thread 5 (!) I've been quiet because the horrendous side effects are continuing into week 2 of 5mg
I have taken immodium and managed to get some anti sickness pills from my GP which have helped greatly. I've managed a poached egg on toast this morning - first meal since Saturday afternoon! Due to inject tomorrow and I really don't know what to do??

Maybe go back to 2.5 and count clicks

Princessandthepie · 26/09/2024 11:09

When you guys mention suppression, are you talking about the food noise or actual physical hunger?

I can understand wanting the food noise to stop but I'd be wary of not wanting to feel hungry.

I've just done my 4th 5mg, and I do feel hungry so I eat nutrition food.

I'm worried that some of you are wanting to cut hunger so you never feel hungry but that's not realistic.

Sorry if I've got the wrong end of the stick here but you're allowed to feel hunger, surely?

Willowy1982 · 26/09/2024 11:17

For me, appropriate hunger yes. But food noise is constantly thinking about food, getting a niggle of hunger and wanting something to eat immediately. Craving sugar, snacks, eating just for the sake of eating etc. Eating a meal and still feeling hungry after. It's almost an insatiable hunger that I would have. Now I'm hungry, so I eat and then I'm done.

AuntieDote · 26/09/2024 11:45

Hi all, checking in.

I'm definitely feeling a bit happier this week, touch wood. (Though for the last 2/3 weeks my stomach symptoms generally really kicked off around this point in the week after injecting on the monday - so we'll see how it goes tonight!) Bit crampy and windy still, but sulphur burps kept to a minimum (doctor prescribed me some omeprazole so think that's helping), and don't feel as sick.

On the other hand - still bleeding, so very tired, cold and low mood. Mounjaro or menopause or both - who knows?

I did not do particularly well food wise yesterday - the craving for carbs/ sugar is very much there pretty constantly, and I think hormonal tied into the never ending periods. Also, it's a pretty ingrained habit to comfort myself with that stuff when I'm feeling shit so I think it's a struggle to beat it. I did ok in the morning with protein yoghurt, some seeds, few berries. Then for lunch I ended up having a packet of microwave rice and 4 rich tea biscuits, and for dinner I had a (grilled) bacon sandwich. And then a protein bar as it was so low for the day. Terrible choices, though still brought my calories in under my allowance. I seem to be having all of the side effects but not much suppression since I moved to 3.75 and then 5.

And fruit and veg is just not holding any appeal for me whatsoever, neither is fish, chicken etc. The thought of those kinds of foods are turning my stomach a bit, all I seem to want are simple carbs. This wasn't the case for the first pen, but since I've felt like a sack of shit since starting the second my enthusiasm for healthy living has definitely waned! I'll get back on it though.

On the upside, I seem to have had a little whoosh on the scales - another 4 ish lbs gone so 18lbs down altogether - not going to log that in my tracking app till the end of the week/ official weigh in day though as I'm aware it might not stay at that!

Going to order another 5 tomorrow - this week so far hasn't been as bad as the last few, so I'm hoping I might be tolerating 5 a bit better.

Blondeshavemorefun · 26/09/2024 12:15

@AuntieDote as I only weigh weekly

If you do when not the time do uou feel ok if not the same

Ie now you've lost 4lbs

But when you weigh and it's say 2lbs - do you feel annoyed /upset it isn't 4

Suppression

For who asked. Sorry can't R.E.M. or flick back to name check

It's not I don't want to feel hungry but seems so many just don't want to eat or think it's 2pm and I haven't eaten

Where im it's 830/9 and hungry

I want breakfast

12/1 lunch

7 tea

Rough times but I do eat 3 meals a day - healthier choices but seems many can't manage food

Part of me thinks wow I want that - equals I know the body needs to eat and learn to control urges and eat less

I don't have food noises but then never had them to the extreme or what can I eat - I've eaten and now want pudding - or what we food noises are

I don't get that

Hope all makes sense

AuntieDote · 26/09/2024 12:35

@Blondeshavemorefun - honestly it doesn't really. I'd probably be better only weighing weekly. However I'd weighed mid week last week and it registered a small loss, then when I weighed on my proper day it was back to normal. I was a bit disappointed but the thing with MJ is I do trust that it's coming off and all going in the right direction. I'm being really strict/ honest with my tracking - weighing rather than guessing and ensuring I stay in a pretty big calorie deficit so really, how could it not come off eventually? Plus, you know, for at least 6 days of the last 14 I've ended up throwing up everything in my stomach, that's got to show up on the scales eventually - even if I'd rather not have had to go through it. So the only reason I stepped on today was because I was pretty sure it would have gone down again, and felt that would give me a boost and bit of optimism whilst I'm feeling a bit crappy!

Also - I've had a couple of holidays/ trips away etc. Even this weekend, my aunt was here and wanted a chinese. I had a few mouthfuls - a fraction even of what my little daughter ate - but I know that I always seem to have a small gain after that stuff, it must be the salt or something. So I knew that Monday's reading was probably a bit harsh, and wanted to try again later in the week to see if that was a truer reflection.

If the normal fluctuations were going to stress me out too much I just wouldn't do it - last year I did lose a couple of stone and mostly did that without weighing along the way, as I was aware that whatever the scales said, whether good or bad, usually led to my brain thinking oh well I can eat something 'bad' now, or 'well sod it it's not working anyway so I'll just comfort eat'. With mounjaro, my brain doesn't seem to be working that way and it's all a bit more detached! I feel confident the overall trend is down. I wish it was a bit easier to achieve - with a bit more of the suppression I had at the start, and fewer side effects - but I do still believe I'll get there!

I think if it was really sticking for a long time though I'd have to stay off them for a while - that must be so frustrating for you!

Blondeshavemorefun · 26/09/2024 12:48

I'm royally kissed off and frustrated but guess my time will come

Hoping it will be on 7.5

Or I will be wishing I'm
Starting 10 or 12.5 or 15 😂

A lb a week js 4stone a year

If this is long haul then a lb a week should be doable

Blondeshavemorefun · 26/09/2024 12:48

Pissed lol

Even my iphone is getting annoyed now 😂

MabelSpan · 26/09/2024 14:04

Feeling a little nauseous today again. I have discovered that if I eat something, it reduces or clears the nausea. I took a cyclizine for it yesterday but am doing ok without one today.
Just ordered my next pen, I am sticking with 5mg for my third pen.

MissFancyDay · 26/09/2024 14:16

@AuntieDote I weigh daily partly to try and understand my body and how it works, although some of the fluctuation are a mystery. I have definitely noticed a correlation between constipated days and slight increase in weight or staying the same, I mean it makes sense.

Blondeshavemorefun · 26/09/2024 15:01

Yes eating def helps nausea

Usernamechangeforthis12 · 26/09/2024 15:14

Hi all

I’ve lost 2lb this week. I actually lost more but have put a couple on in the past 2 days when I’ve felt well enough to eat again!

5mg was too strong for me so I’ve gone back to 3.75. I had 5 days last week where I could barely keep hold of anything so have waited an extra day before my latest
I want to get back to jabbing on Mondays as that works well for me but not sure how best to do it.

Azuresky68 · 26/09/2024 15:41

About to order 7 5 mg but wanting cheapest but reliable supplier. Is there a way of finding out cost of pen and delivery please other than doing whole consultation. So far Curate is £169 less 10% but can't find cost of p&p. Ordered 5 mg from MedExpress but nobody has used my £40 off code. Any advice would be wonderful. Thanks in advance ☺️
