When you guys mention suppression, are you talking about the food noise or actual physical hunger?

I can understand wanting the food noise to stop but I'd be wary of not wanting to feel hungry.

I've just done my 4th 5mg, and I do feel hungry so I eat nutrition food.

I'm worried that some of you are wanting to cut hunger so you never feel hungry but that's not realistic.

Sorry if I've got the wrong end of the stick here but you're allowed to feel hunger, surely?

I'm meaning appetite suppression when I mention it. On 2.5 I felt much less hungry and couldn't eat big portions, but still rumbling close to meal times. I've felt the opposite of hunger since going up just to 3.75 and have struggled to eat for a few days. I don't like feeling so un-hungry - it's nice to feel that prompt as mealtime approaches.

I think of food noise as completely separate. I also used to snack a lot but MJ has completely stopped that. I hear no food voices at all and if, out of habit, I think "I could have a kit kat right now" then a little voice in my brain says "nope, you don't do that now" and that's the end of the discussion.

Blondeshavemorefun · 26/09/2024 18:27

So many of you have voices in your head over food

Is food noise a real thing ?

Yes, for me it is, it is what compelled me to eat when I wasn't hungry, snacking in the evening, biscuits with coffee, hoovering up the kids leftovers.

I wasn't ever hungry when I did those. It's not wanting to miss out, having treats before I diet, just all the thoughts that I assume slim people don't have.

I still get it now on these low doses, but I don't seem to have the compulsion to act on it as much.

happygertie · 26/09/2024 18:57

Weigh in day for me today. And 2nd 5ml injection. Lost 5lb this week which is amazing as only lost 1lb last week. Although had an awful period last week so maybe some of this week's loss is from last week too.

I have lost a total of 17lb in 5 weeks. I don't look any different yet, but feel better, more energy.

MabelSpan · 26/09/2024 19:05

I am much the same as @Timetochange24 and @MissFancyDay food noise for me is that voice or constant thought in my head about deliciously unhealthy, sweet and fattenings foods and the compulsion to eat, gorge on them regardless of whether I am hungry or not. And this food noise is relentless.
Or it was until MJ.
Now I have no food noise and havent had since I started. I dont have any thoughts of unhealthy, sweet and fattening foods. I have no compulsion, craving or the slightest desire to eat any of those cakes, crisps, pizzas or ice creams that I did before.
Apettite supression is just that. I do get hungry on mj if I havent eaten but I much prefer eating healthily, I always have. I am being accountable by counting my calories and macros and I am satisified on my reduced calories.
I am happy to be hungry sometimes, especially in the evenings, I like to go to bed on an empty stomach.

MissFancyDay · 26/09/2024 19:09

@MabelSpan Yes, I sleep better when slightly empty, and don't dream as much 😄

Azuresky68 · 26/09/2024 19:12

Hi again. I am on week 5 of Mounjaro. Decided to use the Voy code on here and they offered me Orlistaat not Mounjaro! No option to order Mounjaro. Is it because my BMI is 29 7?

MissFancyDay · 26/09/2024 19:14

Also, before MJ I was completely unable to refuse things when offered. It wasn't a politeness thing, it was just if someone offered me something, cake coffee etc I'd always say "no thanks"...two seconds later..."oh go on then"

I don't have that problem now.

Azuresky68 · 26/09/2024 19:17

Thank you! Decided to use the Voy code on here and they offered me Orlistaat not Mounjaro! No option to order Mounjaro. Is it because my BMI is 29 7? So I think it might be oushk for me as well. The other cheaper ones are Curate and Ashcroft

Blondeshavemorefun · 26/09/2024 19:22

Thanks for explaining. For someone who doesn't hear food noises it seems weird to me that people do

But if mj works it's magic for that then amazing

Soberfutures · 26/09/2024 19:25

Checked in 👋 had my first 7.5 on Wednesday. Feeling freezing again and very low mood. Also noting others saying periods longer or break through bleeds??? I've been on the mirena for a year and it seemed to stop all bleeding but sometimes need a light pad, now since 5ml and now 7.5 I have actually bled. Not flooding but definitely red and cramps. Has this been a trend for others???

troppibambini6 · 26/09/2024 19:29

Hi all just checking in. Finished my 5mg pen and have decided to stay on 5 for another 4 weeks. It's doing its job and I'm hoping to stay on each dose for as long as possible.

I previously took ozempic which also worked well for me (mounjaro much better) my advice would definitely be stay on each dose for as long as you can. Don't know if MJ will be the same but when you I got to the top dose of ozempic it definitely became less effective after a few weeks.

Wingingit11 · 26/09/2024 19:32

@Azuresky68 I think you’ll need to show previous prescription/ box to show you’ve been above 30

@Blondeshavemorefun If you have no food noise why do you think that you gained weight, do you feel very hungry a lot of the time? My problem is food noise and portion judgement, I very rarely felt hungry pre Mj.

Please don't answer if too intrusive

MabelSpan · 26/09/2024 19:55

Just to add that the reason I opted for mj above the others was because it specifically stated that it reduces cravings, which is food noise for me.

Yes exactly the same. Coil for 10+ years (on my second) no bleeding and had bleeding last month!

Good question

I def didn't think - if lunch. What's for tea. Oh hello biscuit. Yummy. Want more etx

But

Prob portion control

And maybe too much bad unhealthy stuff

But it wasn't if I wasn't Constantly eating

I lost 4w 15yrs ago or so. Put it back on maybe 2/4yrs later

But been the same weight for 10/12yrs since

If that makes sense

It's not like I be gained a stone eveey year for 10yrs

MissFancyDay · 26/09/2024 20:09

@Blondeshavemorefun portion control/judgement is definitely one of my problems. My weight has crept on over about 30 years , 25 of those living with a 6ft 4in Guinness drinking man. We always have equal portions and I don't seem to know when to stop when I am full. So it's no wonder that it has crept on.

Dh wants me to be slimmer for my health as much as I do so we are under no illusions that it will have to be different going forward. Even eating separately for a while until I have it under control. Mj has really hit home that, at my age this is the last chance saloon. Again sorry for the merail.

Timetochange24 · 26/09/2024 20:11

I'm just the same @MissFancyDay Snacks are definitely my downfall. I've never had a problem holding off for a meal - as long as I knew there was one coming it didn't matter if I was hungry an hour before that. It was the boredom snacking and the comfort snacking and the munchies after a glass or four of wine. I've never had much self control over chocolate and biscuits either, so I got round that by just not having them in the house, then the dc got older...

Princessandthepie · 26/09/2024 20:17

Maybe I misread a few posts but it seemed as though some were saying they don't want to feel hunger which is obviously not realistic.

No, not for me. I just took my last dose of 5mg and will move to 7.5mg next week. I used to take the Depo but came off a few months ago. My periods have been normal and last a few days, MJ hasn’t impacted it. Aside from, it’s more noticeable when I’m bloated or I notice the changes on the scales more which I attribute to my period. The low mood that you’re having is concerning, definitely contact your physician.
