Mounjaro - Late September Starters

ShiftAMountain · 19/09/2024 14:27

I see so many threads for people who all started about the same time as each other and think it must be good to have people at similar stages that you can share stories with and go through it all together.

There is a Sept thread but those guys have all started already.

Anyone due to start in the second half of Sept that would be interested in a thread?

I am just waiting delivery of my first pen today but don't plan to inject until Sunday evening. I WFH so cannot work out if having the 'worst' of any side effects ruining the weekend is better/worse than having to work through them on Mon/Tue. However, I have a couple of weekend social things coming up and decided it might be easier to do them when my previous injection is starting to wear off a bit - so Sunday nights it is!

I don't think so...

Day 1 - first shot
Day 8 - second
Day 15 - third
Day 22 - fourth
Day 29 - fifth

But won't that take it over the 30 day limit? Thanks

No so if you do every 7 days five doses is
Day 0
Day 7
Day 15
Day 21
Day 28

Ok, of course, I think my brain is not working tonight sorry!

@RandomID
Where do you get the b12 from? I’ve been looking for my other half who struggles to get in at the GP

I buy from German Amazon, and they ship here. You need to make sure you’re ordering the correct stuff, because of the language barrier (unless you speak German, of course), but I’ve had no issues.

Thank you! Thats much safer looking than the Etsy ampoules I was looking at, and much cheaper than I expected

RandomID · 22/09/2024 23:55

If you include sharps etc. my last purchased batch worked out at just over £1 per shot, which considering aesthetics places up here charge £40+ was a no-brainier for me.

Cocoaone · 23/09/2024 06:56

How is everyone doing after the weekend?

Eager to get going when mine arrives today, but sensibly waiting until Thursday so I don't risk feeling rough on my office days.

I just weighed myself and my bmi is actually closer to 32 at 14st 1lb, rather than the 31 and 13st 13lbs I originally thought.

I'm aiming to eat quite lightly in the run up to injection day, as I'm a slow food transit person and don't want to risk lots of heavy food still in my system once the drug hits - just in case that causes more side effects. No idea if that's rooted in any science, but makes sense to me!

I completely understand how you feel. Apart from having appetite suppression on the second day, there has been nothing since. I’m so disappointed but I’m trying to tell myself that it’s very early days. I’ve been up all night as I’m a carer for disabled dc and I’ve just binged food all night long to stay awake/emotional eating. Now all I want to do is sleep but I’ve got to keep going all day and I just know that food will prove irresistible today. I’m taking my second dose tomorrow evening and I desperately want to have the dramatic change that other people are having.
Have a good week everyone. Onwards and upwards….or rather downwards on the scales! 😄

Last night was a bit tricky. I was very bloated (or felt it) and I had sulphur burps all evening until I fell asleep. They were funny and little inconvenient at first but by the time I'd burped up my 200th sulphur taste they were starting to make me feel ill.

However, I've woken up today and both symptoms have eased a bit, which is good. Makes me a bit reluctant to eat anything else until I know the last lot has been properly digested - perhaps that's how this drug works? Grin

Sorry for those who have not had an immediate effect - but like you say, it is just the start and maybe it means you will get the benefits but less of the side effects as the treatment goes on?

I’ve just done jab number 2, I definitely am feeling a bit nauseous since I did it 10 minutes ago, but going off last week it’ll go away in half an hour and not come back. I’ve done day 6 as it was wearing off

Snapespeare · 23/09/2024 09:12

Feel really well, a little tired, but nothing unusual. Little appetite yesterday protein shake and a chicken drumstick for breakfast, half a salmon sandwich for lunch, small chicken breast, broccoli and roasts for Sunday lunch. My fancy new scales arrived so weighed myself, 17.8. (the horror) weighed self this morning as a proper start weight as mid afternoon weighing isn't my vibe and it's Monday which will be my weigh day -I'm 17.3. - scales suggest this isn't water weight as that's gone up overnight. I promise I won't weigh myself every single day, but that's encouraging and I'd be happy with that for my first weeks loss.

Referral code for newbies XQNNQM £40 off first order, posted in the spirit of me being grateful for the one I used to start.

@ShiftAMountain i have been exactly the same with the burps 😭😭 took my first dose on Saturday morning its awful! I’ve taken an omeprezole each day as well. Last night i was really bloated and uncomfortable and tmi full
of trapped wind 🙈🙈🙈 i’m hoping it eases off soon. On the plus side very little appetite I’m definitely eating less.

ShiftAMountain · 23/09/2024 09:47

What fancy scales have you got @Snapespeare - I keep dithering about changing mine. They were very high tech when I bought them as they were 'smart', but that was more than 10 years ago now.

OP posts:
ShiftAMountain · 23/09/2024 09:51

Commiserations @Bunny2607 - those burps are a lot more miserable than I thought they would be! I take esomeprazole so can only assume it's the combined digestive-delaying properties of both that and the MJ. I'll be keen to stop the esomeprazole just as soon as my weight goes down a bit - which always helps with reflux etc. One of the many things I hope to make healthier about myself.

I woke up a bit better and a dog walk has definitely helped, so if you can have a bit of a walk that might help?

SO fancy! amzn.eu/d/baAGem2 I'm extra delighted to learn my body is six years older than it should be!

ShiftAMountain · 23/09/2024 09:57

Ha! Seems like making them smarter is really just giving them new ways to insult us when we step on 😂

I am feeling slightly better now, a walk doesn’t sound a bad idea apart from we have absolutely torrential rain where I am this morning 😢. Hopefully if its stopped by lunchtime i can nip out of work on my lunch hour and go around the block. I do feel abit calmer though in a strange way, i think its because i’m not constantly driving myself mad thinking about food, my mind feels so peaceful 😂

Rm2018 · 23/09/2024 10:27

What vitamins are everyone taking? I started yesterday and have about 7 stone to lose aagh!

RandomID · 23/09/2024 11:03

I made my ultimate comfort food for dinner last night, which is a ridiculously low calorie curried chicken broth. It hit the spot, and I don’t feel the need to add a ton of carbs to enjoy it.

I have gone off coffee though, which is odd.

I have three GP appointments this week, and the surgery has a free-to-use height/weight machine interception, so I’ll check my progress on Friday.

Orangesandlemons77 · 23/09/2024 11:12

I'm on day 6 of my first week, and today woke up with a strange feeling. My stomach was rumbling, but I didn't feel hungry. very strange. had a banana and it stopped.

Cocoaone · 23/09/2024 11:25

Mine pen has just arrived - still cold but definitely not less than 8 degrees.

Medexpress was replied to my email and said that their packaging is designed to maintain temperature for 48 hours, but that's it's fine for 30 days after going above that.
So I think my 30 days probably starts from yesterday, if they shipped late Friday and the packaging should have kept it cold until mid Sunday at the earliest.

Where is everyone keeping their sharps bin if they aren't telling people? It feels a bit seedy!

FelicityBeedle · 23/09/2024 11:43

I’ve decided to be open about it, I was going to keep it quiet but I’ve decided I’m not going to be ashamed, I need the help and it’s a good thing I’m starting.
@RandomID
recipe for that curry chicken broth? Sounds lovely, I love a spicy soup

I take biotin, multivitamin with iron and vitamin D. I work nights and eat terribly so needs must.
