Mounjaro - Late September Starters

ShiftAMountain · 19/09/2024 14:27

I see so many threads for people who all started about the same time as each other and think it must be good to have people at similar stages that you can share stories with and go through it all together.

There is a Sept thread but those guys have all started already.

Anyone due to start in the second half of Sept that would be interested in a thread?

I am just waiting delivery of my first pen today but don't plan to inject until Sunday evening. I WFH so cannot work out if having the 'worst' of any side effects ruining the weekend is better/worse than having to work through them on Mon/Tue. However, I have a couple of weekend social things coming up and decided it might be easier to do them when my previous injection is starting to wear off a bit - so Sunday nights it is!

3.5lbs off on the scales today for the end of week 2. Total loss 12.5lbs.

My hip pain has pretty much gone and my sore ankle is on the mend, who would have thought carting around 12.5lbs was to blame?!

Off to London today for work and David Tennant in Macbeth.

Mydoghealsmyheart · 07/10/2024 07:33

Absolutely no appetite suppression now, I’m so frustrated. I’m due my fourth dose of 2.5ml tomorrow but I'm wondering if I bring it forward to today? At least I can be a day nearer to starting the 5ml dose next week.
Reading about some of the successes people are having is so encouraging and I am so pleased for everyone.

Those of you painting trims are making me feel guilty. I got aboout 3/4 of the way round the house last winter and then allowed myself to stop when the weather got better and I had stuff to do on the allotment etc.

Now the veggies are pretty much all harvested and the ground put to bed, I suppose it's going to be time to pick up my paintbrush again and finish the last bits.

I've ordered my 2nd pen from PillSorted, comes in at £111 Inc delivery with a £20 off code. (First 100 customers in October) Don't wish to deluge you with codes! This is the price comparison link

ShiftAMountain · 07/10/2024 10:55

I just stuck my order for my 2nd pen in - I'm going to 5mg next time. If that's too much, I can do a smaller dose without much (if any) lost money compared to the cost of a 2.5mg.

It's the cheaper mistake to make vs buying another 2.5mg and then finding I need a bit more.

p.s. I am also very jealous of the Macbeth tickets!

That's brilliant, both on the weight loss and the accompanying health benefits.

@Snapespeare that's an incredible loss well done!

Does anyone notice any headaches while on MJ? Can't decide if MJ related, teething baby related or not drinking / eating enough!!

I had horrible headaches last week after my first injection.

This week has been very different. Second dose on Friday has given me horrible wind and what feels like heartburn.

No appetite suppression at all yet. Not like last week at all.

Theredjellybean · 07/10/2024 13:02

@Snapespeare .. fabulous weight loss and tickets ..very jealous
@ShiftAMountain I've ordered 5mg pen and think I'm going half doses with ability to go up ..I'm due injection tomorrow and still having good results on 2.5mg.
Definitely needed to eat at weekend and started to think about food more so due injection but not sure I need 5mg.
I'm struggling to eat much and finding the running harder this week, and having lost 7kgs or 15.5 lbs in first four weeks I actually would like to slow it down and eat enough to lose 1-2 lbs a week. And have enough energy to run properly.
I thought if I use 2.5 mg as well the 5 mg pen will last longer...it does say use within 30 days but I have a healthy disregard for use by dates 😂.
I counted clicks on my 2.5 mg pen ...I think it's 58 clicks is one full dose.
Has anyone else counted?

Orangesandlemons77 · 07/10/2024 13:07

I have headache wiht it, am treating with co-codomol which I have for another problem. Also drinking water.

ShiftAMountain · 07/10/2024 13:20

@Theredjellybean - I can be a bit like that with use by dates!

I will just mention though that one of the theories for the 30 day limit is about how frequently the red 'self-healing' seal at the end of the pen can be damaged by needles and then left while still being sterile. i.e. too many uses and a pen that is too old may compromise the sterility of it. No idea if that is true but please be very careful with sterilising everywhere before use Smile

OP posts:
ShiftAMountain · 07/10/2024 13:21

Sorry, meant to also say - it's 60 clicks for a dose.

Theredjellybean · 07/10/2024 13:27

Thanks @ShiftAMountain
Good point..I'm a doctor and we tend to fall into two camps ...the highly anxious over potential germs etc and the more cavalier...I'm the latter
If you use a new sterile needle each time, and wipe pen first it's probably a very minimal risk. But will be extra careful

ShiftAMountain · 07/10/2024 13:28

...Now chuckling at myself for (unknowingly) trying to tell a doctor how to be medically careful 😂

Week three weigh in and I’m 11lb down. Slower this week but I’ve had a week of night shifts so that never helps, I usually run dehydrated and then constipated, have upped my fibre intake to better keep things moving.

TricksyLiesmith · 07/10/2024 16:30

For those that have reordered second pen - did you stay with original prescriber or switch ?
Did you get notification at all from original when the best time will be to do it ?
Also did you have to complete the full questionnaire /photo again if the original prescriber.

Sorry for the questions !

Theredjellybean · 07/10/2024 16:49

@TricksyLiesmith ..I got email reminder from med express.
I reordered from them and had to do brief form, no photo this time and it was approved and delivered in 3 days

Hi everyone.

I've just decided to dig out my old adult colouring books that I used to use quite a bit during Covid for some mindless relaxation. Trying to get back into implementing healthy habits in evening to avoid fingers reaching for snacks. Anyone got anything similar they are working at?

I knit, swim regularly, and have a kindle unlimited addiction. :o

I’m down 7.3kg over the last 17 days. I’ll take that.

ShiftAMountain · 07/10/2024 18:23

In reordered from Oushk (same as before). I had to select a fresh consultation to start the order but, because I was signed in, it 'knew' who I was and just asked me a few additional questions such as whether anything had changed medically for me and what side effects I'd had so far. No photos etc requested.

I noticed they sent a fresh letter to my GP detailing the new 5mg strength and then approved withinin hours.

I ordered from Medexpress again, no problems, was with me in 72 hours.
