Mounjaro - Late September Starters

ShiftAMountain · 19/09/2024 14:27

I see so many threads for people who all started about the same time as each other and think it must be good to have people at similar stages that you can share stories with and go through it all together.

There is a Sept thread but those guys have all started already.

Anyone due to start in the second half of Sept that would be interested in a thread?

I am just waiting delivery of my first pen today but don't plan to inject until Sunday evening. I WFH so cannot work out if having the 'worst' of any side effects ruining the weekend is better/worse than having to work through them on Mon/Tue. However, I have a couple of weekend social things coming up and decided it might be easier to do them when my previous injection is starting to wear off a bit - so Sunday nights it is!

It's the doing it myself and looking that's the problem Grin

@MounjaroHereICome I am using the syringe rather than the pen ($50 cheaper!) and it is honestly ok. The needle is so tiny and thin and I honestly wouldn't have known it had happened if I wasn't doing it myself and looking! You can do it!

Thanks AussieMum. Sorry I edited my last post before I saw your post and have expanded a bit on why I'm afraid of the syringe. I suppose if the hard twist doesn't work, I'll try and see if I can use it but I'm seriously hoping it doesn't come to that.

I’m taking dose 4 on Saturday, will try the hard twist for dose 5 and then move to 5mg.

RandomID · 04/10/2024 14:54

I ordered 5mg, it was delivered today. I have one dose of 2.5 left, then the ‘bonus’. I inject b12 weekly too, so have just ordered some very fine needles and will extract the bonus dose that way.

Hope everyone has a lovely weekend.

Snapespeare · 04/10/2024 14:57

Still feeling good suppression on 2nd dose day six, but god I wish I could poop!

Have ordered pen needles to try and squeeze out the golden dose, don't know if I am going up to 5 at the end of this pen or not - MedExpress have very helpfully reminded me to order, exactly two weeks after I ordered the first one, but I'll leave it a week or so to see what I weigh after week 3 weigh in....

I think most of my loss has come off of my face and neck, hello neck wattle - which was not in my head based manifestation board.

boxoftoads · 04/10/2024 17:05

It’s dose 2 for me tonight, first three days this week was rough then the last few days I’ve been back to normal.
2,5mg obviously doesn’t last the week in my system.

I have lost no weight as of this morning but it’s only week 1 so let’s keep going 😊

Sunbeamturtle · 04/10/2024 17:22

Normally I'd use catching a 2 hour train as a reason to buy crisps and chocolate for the train

hah, this is how much Mounjaro is affecting me - I read this and thought ‘oh gross!’

What are people taking for the constipation? I'm onlactulose currently following an op but not for long. Don't want to go even less than already do lol!

I’ve been helped by the nurses at work to borrow some supplies for my bonus dose, I’m going to take everything I can from the pen to maybe make it slightly more than 2.5mg to begin the titration up? Need to order pen number 2 today, for hopeful delivery on Tuesday when I’m off

I take a fybrogel orange drink most days, a glass of aloe Vera juice and have just resorted to fybocalm - senocot isn't shifting anything. I'll have a banana at breakfast..

I drink 3l or so of water everyday, swim every morning and bodypump x 3 a week for exercise , so I'm doing everything as advised re water and exercise ..still nothing.

Did my weigh in and I’ve lost almost 3kg this week, about 6lbs. I’m so pleased because there has been no stress and effort to this at all.

Interestingly I have woken this morning on day 7 and I am actually hungry for breakfast which I haven’t been all week. I’m taking my second dose this evening.

Morning everyone.

Midway through week 2. I did a sneaky step on scales and have lost 2lbs, so that's something. Would love to get to 4lbs. As I didn't lose anything in week 1 I feel like this has been a slog already (even though of course it hasnt).

Food noise still dimmed, although I'm not making the healthiest of choices.

IrisMac · 05/10/2024 09:32

2nd injection due today, DS has his theory test this morning so I need to drive him to a nearby city, so will wait until I get home to do the injection just in case there are any side effects, although haven’t really experienced any so far. Had a glass and a half of wine last night, when I would normally have had at least a bottle on a Friday night! No I’ll effects either. Weighed this morning and I’m 8lbs down! So happy, I, like most of us, have lost and gained weight so many times but it feels so different this time.

Cocoaone · 05/10/2024 10:16

I took my second dose yesterday on day 8 and I'm already regretting it. I think I need to drop down to a half or 3/4 dose as 2.5 is just too strong for me.

Luckily still no bad side effects, but I'm so full after eating even a small amount each day, and worried this week will be worse as the dose in my system will be slightly higher. Averaged 1000 cals a day for past 8 days. Maybe that's ok - people do 800 a day for 12 weeks on the fast 800 don't they?

I'll just have to see how it goes. Maybe my body will get used to it. If not, I'm definitely going to reduce the dose for week 3

I'm on week one and am averaging between 800 ans 1000 calories. I do think that it's fine and enough, obviously depending on activity level. I think you should have a chat with a doctor about your concerns to help put your mind at ease. Your mental health is important on this journey too xx

Snapespeare · 05/10/2024 13:18

If you're on my fitness pal, click "plans" and there's a GLP-1 eating plan! Suggests eating the protein on your plate first, presumably for when you lose interest in your meal halfway through it!

Ozgirl75 · 05/10/2024 13:33

I’ve also been on between 800-1000 calories per day. To be fair, it’s a small breakfast, medium/small lunch (normally about 4 spoons of plain yogurt with various seeds) and a normal dinner, followed by a nut based protein ball in the evening. It’s all well balanced, based around protein, low carbs, good fats and with no sugar or ultra processed food. I am pretty short though at 5ft 3 and I have a sedentary job so it works for me (so far!).

I can imagine it would feel very little though if you were used to a lot more. I reckon I’ve dropped 1/3 of excess calories but they were mainly though snacks, biscuits, chocolate and bread, so nothing I can’t do without!

Ozgirl75 · 05/10/2024 13:42

Well, second injection just done and I felt less nervous this time. It’ll be interesting to see if I get any side effects this week, hopefully this coming week will work as well as last…

ShiftAMountain · 05/10/2024 13:46

Eek! I eat about 1400-1600 a day!

But I am 5ft 8 and I walk about 4-6 miles a day with the dog. Maybe that helps Though I wfh at a desk so on weekdays, the walking is just about the only exercise I do.

Maybe I need to up my game...

Ozgirl75 · 05/10/2024 14:01

Our bodies are all so different though @ShiftAMountain - I gain weight on over 1600 per day! Years of dieting plus being in my 40s have just screwed my metabolism I think. I figure, if you’re losing, it’s working.

Cocoaone · 05/10/2024 14:07

Thanks all and @AussieMum135

I've emailed my provider so I'll see what they say. I haven't dared do any exercise other than walk the dog as I'm eating so few calories, I'd probably pass out!

I'm also going to order some digestive enzymes to see if they help me digest my food a bit easier. I think this is part of the problem and I know it's what the drug does, but a couple of mouthfuls of chicken and a few chunks of cucumber was all I managed at lunch today before feeling full, and that fullness will last until dinner time, if not more.

It's interesting though, I'm so worried about making sure I'm getting enough nutrients to stay healthy. But I certainly wasn't worried when I was devouring bags of Haribo or crisps or pizza most of the time before!
