Mounjaro - Late September Starters

ShiftAMountain · 19/09/2024 14:27

I see so many threads for people who all started about the same time as each other and think it must be good to have people at similar stages that you can share stories with and go through it all together.

There is a Sept thread but those guys have all started already.

Anyone due to start in the second half of Sept that would be interested in a thread?

I am just waiting delivery of my first pen today but don't plan to inject until Sunday evening. I WFH so cannot work out if having the 'worst' of any side effects ruining the weekend is better/worse than having to work through them on Mon/Tue. However, I have a couple of weekend social things coming up and decided it might be easier to do them when my previous injection is starting to wear off a bit - so Sunday nights it is!

Hello all! Back again for my weekly update. Now on my 3rd jab of 2.5mg. Weight loss went down last week - lost about 1kg - but onwards and upwards. It's 1kg more than I'd have lost without MJ. So I count it as a positive and hope for more this week.

Side effects are still the same from last week - I don't really have them and it seems MJ has helped with my constipation problems (Bowel movts seem more regular than usual, no constipation and no diarrhoea. Happy with that).

The suppression wears off within days though so will be going onto 5mg once the pen is finished and hope suppression lasts longer.

rhazhu14 · 03/10/2024 09:30

Thanks for the link. I think I injected it correctly but I was naively expecting it to be like the blood thinners I had to inject after my sections!

I had a headache last night but I haven’t had any other problems and I wish I had as then I would at least know I had done it properly 😂

Ozgirl75 · 03/10/2024 09:35

I’ve been having the same brekky and lunch as normal, but just about half the amount and today I went out for lunch. I was a bit nervous in case I could hardly have anything but we did a load of things to share and it was fine.
And it’s day 4 for me today so I did a sneaky weigh in and I’m almost 2kg (4lbs) down, which is excellent!

FelicityBeedle · 03/10/2024 10:13

So three weeks ish in I’m finally experiencing the not wanting to eat and struggling to finish my plate! Previously I didn’t have much appetite but when I ate I could happily finish a huge portion. And I’m still on holiday so hopefully this last day will be a sensible one

peonym · 03/10/2024 10:56

I was fine with alcohol, I didn't fancy it as much but I still drank a decent amount on holiday and no issues. I was eating plenty though.

Has anyone tried this "bonus dose" people speak of? I'm thinking of using it to bridge gap between 2.5 and 5 when I do move up.

Hello, I've decided to join you all.

I've been thinking about taking Mounjaro for a while now but the cost really put me off and fears about any unknown longterm effects. I've lost weight very successfully in the past through healthy eating and exercise but never keep it off for more than 1-3 years. I'm so big now that I don't even feel I can exercise - I walked less than a mile the other week and was out of breath and an old hip injury flared up. I'm only in my mid-40s!

Anyway, I bit the bullet and ordered from MedExpress, using someone's £40 discount code. I took my first jab on Saturday evening as that's when the pen arrived, but will take my next one tomorrow as I need good appetite suppression over the weekend.

I am 5ft 4" and SW is 15st 3lb (97kg i think) and I have high cholesterol. It would be amazing to get back into the 10st or under range, it's been a good 7-8 years since that last happened.

I've had good appetite suppression but I'm thinking about food a fair bit so far today. Very mild feelings of nausea in the mornings (none today), which disappear within a few hours. I'm trying to make healthier food choices, drink water and when I've lost a bit I want to start exercising. Like many others, I don't want to waste this money I'm spending when it could be going towards a nice holiday or into my pension!

KitsyWitsy · 03/10/2024 11:22

Stupid question alert... Do you count your first day as the day you had the injection or the next full day?

Anyway, I am day 5 or 6! and I had such bad diarrhoea last night. I had to drive someone home and I was absolutely dying from the cramps. Tonight I have a first date, so really don't want to have this happen again! Got some immodium as a preventative measure.

Hungrier today than I was. Ate my usual porridge and I am pretty peckish now. Wondering if it is tapering off for me.

Hi Guys :)

I have been a silent follower for a while but thought I would share my experiences, I started last week on the 21/09/2024 on the 2.5mg pen. I am due for my first weigh day tomorrow so I am excited/nervous. I am unsure if I have lost or not but I think I should have. I have ate in a 1400-1500 calorie deficit all week without fail.

I am a binge eater, I eat when happy, sad, angry, ecstatic. I hide food and will often eat more than one two meals of a night time because I lie about what I have ate in the day, my mind is constantly food, I will lie in bed all night and think what I will eat tomorrow and get up half way through the night and eat! I have tried every single diet and nothing has worked, but this! I am never hungry, food noise has gone I don't think how I used too and I would pay £100s of pounds just for that factor, hope it lasts!! I feel more free, I was mentally drained constantly every thought around food. It has worn off today however I am not starving I am being mindful and sticking to it for weigh in and a fresh dose in the AM. Wish me luck! (this has changed my life, for one week only) (so far) xxxx

SW - 14st 12.5lbs
Height - 5ft 8inch
Sex - Female

UPDATE!! I lost 5.9lbs on my first week :) and I am 5 days into second week no side effects, appetite suppression is amazing and 0 food noise!!

Ozgirl75 · 03/10/2024 13:12

That’s brilliant @SF5960 ! Amazing loss and fantastic that you’re feeling so good too.

Ozgirl75 · 03/10/2024 13:20

I’ve just realised it isn’t day 4 for me, it’s the end of day 5. I’ll be interested to see if my appetite comes back over the next couple of days. It’s been so great so far I hope it stays the same.

One added bonus I love is that I have such a poor relationship with food - according to my failed attempt with Noom I am a “storm” eater. I know what I do is restrict a food, then keep thinking about it it, then binge on it, whilst saying to myself “this is the last time you can do this” which in some messed up way justifies the binge. My “worst” foods for this are chocolate and white bread.

Well I’ve realised I just don’t have that dialogue in my head. Tonight I made home made burgers in delicious soft white buns and normally I would have an internal battle over this, but instead I just….didnt. Ate most of it, felt full and stopped. Had a handful of chips and no more.

For the first time I do feel a bit uncomfortably full but it’s probably the biggest meal I’ve had all week - and it was just a 125g all lean mince burger, a bun and probably 10 chips. I’ll be interested to see if I have any upset stomach tonight - it feels ok so far but definitely more full than I have been, and not in a good way!

I'm a similar age, weight and height (well a little shorter and heavier- I am now a similar weight after a couple of weeks on the med!) I know what you mean about even walking about being a problem. best wishes with it!

peonym · 03/10/2024 14:26

@KitsyWitsy I actually count day 1 as injection day. But who knows!

Well done @SF5960 that's fab.

@Ozgirl75 I also had a failed attempt at Noom, I could have written your post!!!

JustWalkingTheDogs · 03/10/2024 15:29

My next injection day is tomorrow and I'm starting to feel quite hungry today. Think I've felt hungry all week tbh.

Orangesandlemons77 · 03/10/2024 15:38

I've just taken mine early, after thinking I will stay on 2.5 now thinking I will need to go up. feeling much better now. Was worried it might have side effects but just made me feel better.

Have you gone up to 5mg?

Hey1234567 · 03/10/2024 15:48

Hey not on Mounjaro, on Wegovy but hoping this is a good thread to join.!

Just injected 3rd dose of 0.25, I have gone against advice and decided to inject every 6 days as the noise creeps back in on day 6.
Using Wegovy as I went into surgical menopause at 33 and gained weight from 11st to 13.5st and hated myself!
I am still weighing every 7 days and taking that as my loss, but I did jump on this morning and I’m down to 12st.12 from 13st.5 in just under 3 weeks so I’m hoping by Saturday (official weigh day) that it will be half a stone.
I almost feel like I have morning sickness when cooking tea but only the first couple of days after injecting, and I have heartburn, all of which is manageable with Gaviscon.
Other than that feeling good and looking forward to stepping up to 0.5. 😊

JustWalkingTheDogs · 03/10/2024 15:39

Have you gone up to 5mg?

No, I just took the 2.5mg early. It's my last dose next week, so will see how it goes, I should then have the 'bonus' dose so might take that early if it happens again, and then will be on to 5mg.

Bellyblueboy · 03/10/2024 18:02

Okay so I am a little disappointed with week one which I know is silly! I have lost 3lbs. Taking my second injection tonight.

i know 3lbs is a good amount of weight to lose in a week - and I know I won’t lose three stone overnight but I got carried away reading everyone’s stories

WeightyWidow · 03/10/2024 19:31

@Bellyblueboy we must be injection day & 3lb off in the first week buddies! I did wonder if I should be disappointed but I’ve had no horrid side effects & have enjoyed the week. Don’t be disheartened.

I did my second injection at lunchtime today and was a little more confident. I didn’t sit there with sweaty palms for quite so long. Still had to talk myself into it though.

Almost the weekend & it’s my sons 21st 🎉. As we’re entertaining here it’ll be easy to manage the food / drink hopefully!

Cocoaone · 03/10/2024 21:10

Day 7 for me. Definitely feeling able to eat more and I've been hungrier today, which is nice after struggling all week.
It's supposed to be jab time tonight but I'm going to delay until tomorrow to slowly move my day until it's on Sunday.

I'll probably be ravenous tomorrow after complaining about not eating enough all week Grin

ChittyChittyBoomBoom · 03/10/2024 22:24

I had my first weigh in this morning and I’ve lost 7lb! Delighted with that.

ChubbyMcChubfest · 03/10/2024 23:19

Thanks @Orangesandlemons77, and to you too.

I've been a bit unsure how much of my success this week (in not stuffing my face) has been the injection and how much has been a placebo. But I've realised that it's definitely the injection as I haven't felt really hungry at any point. Today I had a very small portion of dinner leftovers - pasta with pork mince in a tomato and spinach sauce and a sprinkling of parmesan for brunch and then nothing until my dinner on a train. Normally I'd use catching a 2 hour train as a reason to buy crisps and chocolate for the train & then dinner on work's expenses account when I reach my destination. Today I decided to just get a Yo Sushi pot of rainbow salmon and some grapes for the train. Unbelievably -to me - that's been all I've needed and I didn't even bother getting dinner in the end. I never pass up the chance of free food! So now I know, it's definitely not a placebo effect for me, even on this low dose at week 1.

Naturally slim people must feel like this all the time and they don't even realise their superpower!

MounjaroHereICome · 04/10/2024 00:57

Decided to have a cheeky check on the scale before I finally go to bed and I've lost 1kg extra! Must have been the bowel movt this night!

I was pleasantly surprised as I half expected it to stay the same having had dinner and weighed myself sometime in the morning or so. So I've lost 4kg in total and now on my 3rd week. Onwards and upwards. It feels so good to see the scales move when they've either stayed the same or moved to the right for a long while now. Finally shifting this weight!!! Hooray to Mounjaro.

Cocoaone · 04/10/2024 06:33

Weigh in today after my first full week on MJ

SW: 196.6lbs / 14st 0.6lb / 89.2kg
CW: 190.2lbs / 13st 8.2 / 86.3kg
GW: somewhere around 10st I think - but it's been 15+ years since then, so who knows!

Total lost this week: 6.4lbs / 2.9kg

Interested to see what week 2 brings

JustWalkingTheDogs · 04/10/2024 07:22

End of week 2 for me and no losses at all. Trying not to let it impact my motivation. 4lbs In total.

I've been sticking to 1100 to 1300 calories a day and tracking these in an app so I know I'm logging correctly Confused
