Mounjaro - Late September Starters

ShiftAMountain · 19/09/2024 14:27

I see so many threads for people who all started about the same time as each other and think it must be good to have people at similar stages that you can share stories with and go through it all together.

There is a Sept thread but those guys have all started already.

Anyone due to start in the second half of Sept that would be interested in a thread?

I am just waiting delivery of my first pen today but don't plan to inject until Sunday evening. I WFH so cannot work out if having the 'worst' of any side effects ruining the weekend is better/worse than having to work through them on Mon/Tue. However, I have a couple of weekend social things coming up and decided it might be easier to do them when my previous injection is starting to wear off a bit - so Sunday nights it is!

That’s brilliant @TheCatterall - what a great loss!

KitsyWitsy · 02/10/2024 15:38

I got those renpho scales people keep talking about. Of course, I’m heavier on them… isn’t that always the way! So I’ve just adjusted my numbers in my apps to reflect it. So annoying because on my old scales I am 15st something but still 16st on new ones. Oh well.

RandomID · 02/10/2024 15:41

I drink squash if I’m thirsty. It’s not berry calorific and it means I’m getting my 2l a day.

Allmyfavouritepeople · 02/10/2024 15:45

Had some fun with two separate scales in two separate houses but got a proper update today.

SW 12st 6
Week 1 - 6lbs
Week 2 - 1lb
Week 3 - 3lbs
10lbs lost in 3 weeks!
CW 11st 10
GW 9st - 9st 6

I'm expecting to put on a little bit of weight once I stop taking the injection so thinking of aiming for 9st to give me some wiggle room.

This week has been so much better, hardly any side effects and got into a real rhythm of 3 small meals a day and a couple of healthy snacks if I fancy them.

Ordered my 5mg but going to count clicks to get a 3.75 dose for at least the first week.

peonym · 02/10/2024 16:12

Thanks for the kind words and perspective @ShiftAMountain and @Obeseandashamed Flowers

Tomorrow is a new week jab wise!!

Well done on all the losses guys, it's incredible to seem them rolling in.

JustWalkingTheDogs · 02/10/2024 16:49

Does anyone know how I stop my order with VOY? My 5mg pen die in two weeks time is £200, I've seen I can get it for £130 elsewhere. I can't see anywhere in the app where I can cancel it

Ignore me, I logged onto the website and could cancel it there. But as soon as I clicked the 'I've found it cheaper elsewhere' they knocked £50 off, so it made it the same price as the other place as they charged for postage.

A tip for anyone who is with VOY!

rhazhu14 · 02/10/2024 19:48

I’ve not got off to a very good start. I can’t work out how to use it? My instructions are just all about side effects.

Sunbeamturtle · 02/10/2024 19:54

There should be a separate one with instructions. If not give it a Google sure it’s online

Can anyone recommend a set of bathroom scales? Mine have given up, just as I start losing 😂

lespameo · 02/10/2024 20:34

@Allmyfavouritepeople what a wonderful weight loss in such short time! Are you exercising as well as watching your calorie intake?

TricksyLiesmith · 02/10/2024 20:57

Urgh bloating ahoy today . I feel like a huge whoppee cushion full of air .
It's been non stop burping most of the day. First real symptoms since starting over a week ago . Hoping it settles down again

Snapespeare · 02/10/2024 21:44

@IrisMac Runstar Scales For Body Weight,... www.amazon.co.uk/dp/B0CJJGYXHG?ref=ppx_pop_mob_ap_share these tell you everything except your shoe size.

Honestly not particularly. I've been to the gym twice in that time and once was just to walk on the treadmill. I walk my dog everyday but again it's a start stop 40 min walk with a bichon frise so I'm not doing miles a day. All down to calorie intake really and much less chocolate!

Cocoaone · 02/10/2024 22:17

Day 6 today and I felt so incredibly full this morning, I managed a protein drink and picked up some dates and nuts for low volume high calorie/fibre snacks.

Managed to eat a small lunch and dinner. And was actually hungry just now so had a small pack of mini cheddars. Finally managed to make it to 1200 calories in a day. I really hope the fullness goes soon - I've replaced constantly wanting and thinking about sugary carby food, to constantly worrying that I'm not getting enough calories and all my hair will fall out!

Definitely going to try and move my injection day to Sunday, otherwise it feels I'll never be able to eat out on the weekend again. And it's very tricky not telling people, I'm already worrying about our work Xmas do - there's no way I'd be able to manage the dinner and it's traditionally very boozy. I'm not sure how booze will affect me, but I've heard it's not good on MJ. I'll have to start thinking of excuses

WeeklyJab · 02/10/2024 23:26

I told my close friends - partly to explain standing them up because I slept through the entire afternoon! But I am not embarrassed about using MJ - I’ve had decades of failing to find something that works!

I was in a cafe around brunch time with DH today. It sold all my favourite things, but I only fancied a coffee because I was still full after a slice of toast 2 hours earlier.

This never happened before!

Sunbeamturtle · 02/10/2024 23:31

@Cocoaone theres no issue with alcohol as long as you’re not feeling sick etc

peonym · 03/10/2024 08:34

Well I plucked up the courage to weigh after the first week and my holidays. I've maintained, so I suppose it could have been a lot worse without MJ.

Took my 2nd dose last night, definitely feeling suppression effects although suspect that's also guilt at overeating on holidays still lol.

Really really want a decent loss this week, would love 4lbs.

Interestingly, the lead pharmacist at Oushk did a live facebook session last night and reported that Wegovy has just been licenced to reduce cardiovascular event risk (as well as for diabetes and weight control) - and that they would expect that to apply to MJ too in the future. Interesting.

I thought there was an issue with alcohol - I've seen a few people report their sensitivity to it is increased and hangovers the next day are much worse. Following as I have a few days away with work coming up, which includes a night out and I'm trying to plan how I hande it.

That's promising!

I've also had a few drinks and had the same feeling as @10storeylovesong. Normally I would want to have more but I've been able to moderate myself. Also no side affects at all.

Sunbeamturtle · 03/10/2024 09:05

Any additional sensitivity is probably down to not eating as much so alcohol affecting more.

Cocoaone · 03/10/2024 09:14

Definitely worth testing before any big events I think. I find a heavy alcohol session (more than just a glass or two of wine) really affects my gastro system with horrendous poos the next day. Maybe it would just get things moving a bit more on MJ instead of the constipation Grin
