Mounjaro - Late September Starters

ShiftAMountain · 19/09/2024 14:27

I see so many threads for people who all started about the same time as each other and think it must be good to have people at similar stages that you can share stories with and go through it all together.

There is a Sept thread but those guys have all started already.

Anyone due to start in the second half of Sept that would be interested in a thread?

I am just waiting delivery of my first pen today but don't plan to inject until Sunday evening. I WFH so cannot work out if having the 'worst' of any side effects ruining the weekend is better/worse than having to work through them on Mon/Tue. However, I have a couple of weekend social things coming up and decided it might be easier to do them when my previous injection is starting to wear off a bit - so Sunday nights it is!

It’s so weird isn’t it @holycow1 - I don’t feel full in a “I’ve just eaten” way, more like, I just don’t think about food. Realised I went 6 hours earlier without the thought of food crossing my mind. Is this how thin people are all the time?

Ozgirl75 · 30/09/2024 11:01

Like - my husband has just come back from an overseas trip with a load of sweets and chocolate and I didn’t look at it and think “omg I can’t have that” or “omg I must have some”, I just thought “that looks quite nice, I might have a square or two later”.

Yes, that's exactly it @Ozgirl75 - it's a new kind of 'take it or leave it' mindset that is completely alien to me! There's a biscuit selection box in the kitchen at work today, and I've walked past it a several times, genuinely not bothered about having one. So weird.

Ozgirl75 · 30/09/2024 13:12

I’m probably exaggerating but it honestly feels like a genuine miracle that I’m feeling completely neutral towards food in a way that I can’t recall feeling since probably childhood.

I have managed to lose weight before, with weightwaters but it felt like food was on my mind 100% of the time and I was in a constant battle between what I wanted to eat and what I allowed myself to eat.

But with this, so far, I just feel totally calm about food. I truly believe I could eat a couple of pieces of chocolate and leave it at that - but at this stage I have no desire for it.

boxoftoads · 30/09/2024 13:12

I am just joining, I hope this is ok. I am needing a bit of a hand hold.

First injection was on Friday night and I was hit by an almost instant headache and it hasnt moved. I feel so tired even with lots of sleep.

I am also feeling repulsed by the thought of food and my brain is buzzing with a 'dont eat' message. Woke up on Saturday morning and everything - the smell, the texture, chewing is making me feel quesy. I have barely eaten in 3 days. I am forcing bites of dry toast and sips of water into me. A full meal hasnt happened since my injection.

I have a weird feeling in my mouth. My tongue feels quite rough and I feel seasick.

Tell me this wears off! 😔

JustWalkingTheDogs · 30/09/2024 13:34

I got the headache, first week was awful and ended up with me in bed all day Friday but I seem to have got through it now.

I found water was the best way forward, I got a water bottle and just kept drinking it. Also smoothies, I have protein powder, banana, yogurt and milk in mine, also try to eat little and often. I still know that I've not drunk enough water when my headache reappears

I find I have to be quiet regimented and plan my meals otherwise I forget to eat and then don't know what I fancy, as I don't really fancy anything.

Mydoghealsmyheart · 30/09/2024 13:48

Has anyone else not lost anything? 😭 I’m due to take my third dose of 2.5mg tomorrow and I weighed myself just now and it’s showing no weight loss!! Aaggh!

ShiftAMountain · 30/09/2024 13:56

@Mydoghealsmyheart is that weighing at the same time of day?

I know I weigh a couple or more lbs more by the end of the day, that kind of vanishes overnight. So if I were comparing an early morning reading to an afternoon one, I might think I'd not lost anything.

Also, I know from old that I weigh more just before a period. As much as 5lbs more. That 5lbs also kind of vanishes within the first day or two of my period.

Could either of those explain it?

Mydoghealsmyheart · 30/09/2024 14:01

I weighed in the morning last week and today’s was at 1pm. I know evening and morning weighing can change but I wouldn’t have thought doing it 4 hours later in the day would make such a difference. I feel so disappointed and like I’m destined to be obese forevermore. I know that’s an overreaction but today it feels rubbish.
Time of the month doesn’t apply either but thank you for asking about the two potential reasons.

peonym · 30/09/2024 14:43

Happy Monday!

On holiday so overindulging still. Will weigh when I'm home on Thursday. Have also got a heavy postpartum period so hoping I'll have shed a couple of pounds from that alone...

Food noise not really there as much but I'm definitely still eating plenty (not one of the lucky few who have to force themselves to eat lol)

Gingerela · 30/09/2024 16:53

Hi all. I've had my second jab last night so wanted to share my first week experience.

First day I had a dull headache and slight nausea but the food noise disappeared the first morning. Ive been still enjoying my food but get the message that I've had enough so the best changes for me is portion control as well as no urge to snack whatsoever. Started to feel more energised ed by Wednesday.
All was going great til Thursday when I realised about 6pm that I had completely forgot to eat all day 🤦. I'd just been so busy and it didn't cross my mind.
I did notice the munchies creeping in on sat/sun.

Anyway first weigh in and I've lost 7 pounds and 2 inches from my waist. Obviously a long way to go and I'm sure some of that is fluid but I'm over the moon so far.

Thanks for all the updates everyone it's really helpful to read others experiences and to be part of this group. I hope you all have great results.

ShiftAMountain · 30/09/2024 17:46

I have a bit of a weekend coming up. Dinner out on Saturday night to celebrate a close friends wedding anniversary and then Sunday lunch out to celebrate a family member's birthday.

I shall be endeavouring not to over eat, not to over drink and to get through all events unscathed. I've spaced out my jabs so I'll next take a dose on Sunday night. Hopefully that'll help!

@Gingerela well done on the first week and the loss. And thank you for the remainder to me to get some measurements tracked pronto!

KitsyWitsy · 30/09/2024 18:48

Nearly 7pm and only just doing my tea. Unheard of.

Sunbeamturtle · 30/09/2024 18:51

Hey all, I started last Wednesday and today took my next dose as I was suddenly starving and didn’t like it!!!

Sunbeamturtle · 30/09/2024 18:53

Also I stupidly didn’t do proper research and bought from Superdrug where my first pen was £225 😭

letshavetea · 30/09/2024 19:15

Today was my first day (after injection last night). Digestion felt sluggish (burps and nausea) this morning. I found lunch actually helped as did drinking water steadily. I feel fine this evening. Have posted what I ate on the ‘what I ate today thread’. I decided to take heed of what others had said made them feel uncomfortable, so I had a very light eating day. I focussed on protein and fibre (fruit or veg) at every meal.

I don’t feel hungry. Quite amazing!

Snapespeare · 30/09/2024 19:40

I can't finish anything today. Breakfast - pasta salad, couldn't finish it. Lunch - a sandwich, left half of a half, dinner m&s crayfish salad ,- couldn't finish it. Still feeling a bit carby.

I think the important memory from this is not having to clear my plate - I think that's a deeply ingrained childhood thing & not thinking about food constantly.

This is such a good point. It's something I've had to get used to with the feelings of guilt and wasteful leaving food on the plate. Once you realise it's a stupid thing we were told as children, that for me it probably added to my disordered eating and it's more important to only eat til we're satisfied it's actually quite freeing.

Orangesandlemons77 · 30/09/2024 21:01

I've just taken my third dose a day early as the cravings were starting up again.

Theredjellybean · 30/09/2024 21:05

I took my fourth dose today instead of tomorrow as was grazing the fridge at 6:30
Opened a packet of crisps but ate about 5 and gave rest to the dogs.
I was hungry but was able to stop myself picking at stuff while I waited for dinner to be ready.
Also now 8 days with no alcohol...

JustWalkingTheDogs · 30/09/2024 21:33

Hungry today, I was like this last week on day 3 but the appetite suppression kicked in again the next day. Hoping it's the same.

Mydoghealsmyheart · 30/09/2024 21:55

As I’ve seemingly no weight loss with two weeks of 2.5mg, I’m wondering if I should take the third one tonight rather than tomorrow to see if it helps at all? Are there risks to taking it early does anyone know?

Sunbeamturtle · 30/09/2024 22:02

As long as you leave 4 days between doses it’s fine
