Mounjaro - Late September Starters

ShiftAMountain · 19/09/2024 14:27

I see so many threads for people who all started about the same time as each other and think it must be good to have people at similar stages that you can share stories with and go through it all together.

There is a Sept thread but those guys have all started already.

Anyone due to start in the second half of Sept that would be interested in a thread?

I am just waiting delivery of my first pen today but don't plan to inject until Sunday evening. I WFH so cannot work out if having the 'worst' of any side effects ruining the weekend is better/worse than having to work through them on Mon/Tue. However, I have a couple of weekend social things coming up and decided it might be easier to do them when my previous injection is starting to wear off a bit - so Sunday nights it is!

Ok, proper weigh in today on the right scales, and I’m 8lb down. I’ll take that.

I’m off swimming now.

Hoping everyone is heading into the weekend feeling chill. I’m making a cottage pie tomorrow for batching for the freezer. Portion control feels actually achievable now which is amazing.

Very interesting thanks @ShiftAMountain

@HippityHoppityhoo I took it in middle of day and had no issues but I think ideally before bed just in case you do have some side effects. It seems some people have side effects the next day, others a few days later and others not at all! Good luck!

Thank you @peonym Flowers

Did it! Gave myself a talking to and just sorted it! Tho re-read the instructions several times. Pleased the needle was so so fine. Onward and upward as they say!

AnybodyAnywhere · 27/09/2024 15:14

48 hrs in and the diarrhoea has arrived ,,, not too bad atm but i’m glad I’ve got a quiet weekend!

A positive is that I breezed through the weekly shop and only came back with what was on the list. The cakes and chocolate and freshly baked bread may have been calling me but I was deaf to them 😊

Hi all, please can someone advise.

After a promising start, I kind of feel as if I am relying on willpower as much as I am the potential placebo effect of the 2.5.

I had the first dose on the 19th and by the Monday / Tuesday I didn't really feel any different so had my second early, this Wednesday 25th. Is the first month often to get used to the drug, rather than anything more substantial? Opinions differ. I was less hungry and also drinking much much less at first but it only seems to be a few days.

I realise it's better to come off slow rather than fast, but I succumbed and weighed myself a few days in and was 4lb lighter and then, in subsequent days, alternated up and down the same 3lb.

ShiftAMountain · 27/09/2024 15:56

We're all only just starting on here but from our experiences so far it seems to me that you are probably expecting too much too soon. None of us 'felt' much different (apart from those with bad side effects) - we just all found it a little bit easier to resist food in the first few days.

2.5mg is not a therapeutic dose. It's not meant to make you feel anything at all, it's meant to just start your body getting used to the drug.

I would honestly stick to the prescribed shcedule of every 7 days, allowing the drug to build in your system and then talking to your prescriber about going up to the next dose for the next pen.

I'm definitely having suppression, but the habit snacking is hard to get my head around!
I keep wandering to the kitchen and then thinking 'I don't actually want anything'

Had a protein yogurt for breakfast, and chicken and salad for lunch. I'm mindful not too each too much (especially fats and carbs) as I don't want to feel sick, but equally conscious that I need to get enough calories. It's very tricky!

@MargaretElsie the first month is definitely just to get your body used to the drug, it's called a non-therapeutic dose because they don't expect the proper impact from the drug as this low level. But lots of people do. It's frustrating if you aren't one of them though!

WeightyWidow · 27/09/2024 16:09

Thank you for the welcome :). Happy Friday!
Over 24 hours in now and feeling okay! Not as hungry as usual and I did just reach for a banana for a snack instead of raiding the biscuit tin. I was out with friends for breakfast but that was easy to manage as had eggs on toast. How much of that is the placebo effect I don't know.

FelicityBeedle · 27/09/2024 16:38

I’m going to Rome tomorrow, interested how it’ll work foodwise, going with DP and PILS and we normally have very foodie very drinky holidays, three course meals and several bottles of wine. I’m being open with everyone except them of course, just to make it harder

Theredjellybean · 27/09/2024 16:40

Those asking about what time of day to inject..I've done all three early evenings and all three times woken in the night with nausea and diarrhea but it has passed by the morning.
I had huge effect from day one but now on week three at 2.5 and definitely not as much...I'm thinking I might be hungry and yesterday did eat a bit more ...
Week one I literally did not eat...most days I have a few spoons of yogurt and maybe a 1/4 of portion of dinner which I often didn't eat...
Second week was less dramatic but still eating very little and just had a couldn't be bothered to eat feeling...now on day three week three I'm thinking about food a bit....

Theredjellybean · 27/09/2024 16:41

I'm thinking about having my last 2.5 dose early...and moving up to 5 next 10 days as my 5 mg pen has arrived

@cocoaone Toast do a very fine range of elastic waisted trousers, I bought my first pair, an XL I think, as a size 20 and they were super-comfy. I carry a lot of weight in my upper legs and stomach and they're good disguise!

Constipated again despite loads of water, Fybrogel and senacot.

Day 6, breakfast pret Salmon Sandwich, lunch - pret chicken salad. Friday night is takeaway and Taskmaster night, am going to attempt to have a quarter chicken, a handful of chips and a glass of wine. Shall report back. :-)

KitsyWitsy · 27/09/2024 18:47

Oo. Mine is coming tomorrow between 9 and 11.

I will be piercing myself with it immediately.

Bellyblueboy · 27/09/2024 18:52

I am on day two after my first injection.

It’s very strange - no side effects but appetite suppression is real! I am making a point of eating well - plenty of vegetables and protein. Drinking loads of water and taking fibre gummies.

no cravings for sweets or crisps or wine! Hopefully it lasts

KitsyWitsy · 27/09/2024 18:56

That is really interesting about toast. I’ve wanted to order from there before but been worried I won’t fit into the clothes. I’m a big 18 atm.

Although if I’m hopefully losing weight, I’ll wait till I’m smaller since it’s an expensive brand.

rhazhu14 · 27/09/2024 19:29

So I’ve been approved and mine will arrive next week - I ordered Wednesday so hoping Monday or Tuesday would be good as I’m off work then!

Some of these posts have made me nervous, worried about feeling sick all the time. I hate feeling sick! I have two young children and work three days a week so this is a worry for me. Does it get better?

Bellyblueboy · 27/09/2024 19:32

@rhazhu14 where did you order from! I ordered from medexpress - ordered on a Thursday night- they shipped it on Friday and I got it on Monday morning

rhazhu14 · 27/09/2024 19:33

Boots, although from what people are saying they are quite a costly option!

peonym · 27/09/2024 19:33

Evening of day 3 for me! I had scrambled eggs and toast for lunch, and then had a small beef stroganoff for dinner. Very thirsty. Going to have a small glass of wine this evening (whispering angel is calling me from the fridge).

@rhazhu14 I also have two young kids (currently on mat leave with one) and have had zero sickness or side effects - try not to worry!

Snapespeare · 27/09/2024 19:37

I've just poured half a glass of wine down the sink. I don't even know myself anymore!

JustWalkingTheDogs · 27/09/2024 19:39

Well that's the second dose done. Let's see what this week brings

Bellyblueboy · 27/09/2024 19:44

rhazhu14 · 27/09/2024 19:33

Yes - I paid £123 from medexpress. I hadn’t realised the discount code thing until I came on here. You get £40 off your first order if you use someone’s code (they get £40 off too).

Thehop · 27/09/2024 23:45

I'm a late September too

second dose last night, forst weigh in today and 10lbs down.

very happy as I have 12 stone to lose

I'm doing calorie counting and trying to walk alongside

have felt an effect from day 1, when I woke up and didn't want breakfast. A first for me!

ive found I'm not exactly not wanting to eat, but I'm not constantly thinking about eating rubbish and snacking. I'm having 3 really sensible nutrient dense meals a day and sticking to about 1500-1800 cals which is amazing for me. Like the MJ is a nice quiet personal trainer keeping the bad devil in my shoulder quiet!

i do need to drink more water I struggle with that.

flobbynomore · 28/09/2024 00:02

I've done my second jab tonight, Scales say 5lb lost in the first week which is pretty amazing for me! No side effects yet. I love the feeling of stability, instead of the usual feeling that my blood sugar is rocketing all over the place Was out for lunch today with 2 slim friends, we all ordered the same meal and all left most of the chips on the plate. I'd have hoovered it all up before Mounjaro but I'm eating like a thin person - what a revelation!

Theredjellybean · 28/09/2024 06:47

@flobbynomore ..that's exactly it !
I said the same to a friend " it must be like naturally slim people think or feel all the time"
