@BlackFriYay im sorry to see you’re having swallowing problems. I’ve got experience of both sides of that coin - I had trouble swallowing and the feeling of a lump which I had an endoscopy for. This was a truly horrible procedure without sedation so if they offer it to you, bloody well have it! The results were clear; a combination of reflux and anxiety. The anxiety part came from a close relative who had the same but the outcome was the complete opposite :(

I find now I’m on MJ that I have trouble swallowing cheese. Everything else is fine, but cheese just does not want to shift 🤷‍♀️ Your GP has to rule out anything sinister happening and I’m really glad that they are taking you seriously. If you aren’t already, you could get some omeprazole over the counter and see if that makes a difference while you are waiting for the camera.

Most people who need to have the scopes find that their problems come from reflux or hiatus hernias, both of which are very easily treatable, often with nothing more than twice daily omeprazole. The percentage of people who do have unfavourable outcomes is very small.

I know only too well how much easier said than done it is, but please try not to worry about it, and bloody well stay off Google 🤣

@BlackFriYay hopefully it's nothing serious and they are just being cautious. I also sometimes feel like swallowing is hard. I just assumed it's a weird side effect of MJ

Just noticed on the main thread that someone has been cut off from care pharmacy as they will no longer prescribe to people with PCOS or an underactive thyroid. So worrying! Hope this isn't all pescribers. I know a lot of people have had success on MJ with PCOS and under active thyroid. So terrible if they are now cutting people off for those reasons.

NHS criteria is opening up rapidly. I think we will see a gradual shift down on private pharmacists criteria as NHS opens theirs up. They will want to buy this drug in vast bulk if it’s going onto the NHS tariff for primary care. I think these women will get it on the NHS very very soon.

That would be amazing if that were to happen

I have PCOS, so I do hope so 🤞🏻🤞🏻🤞🏻

There was an announcement the other day about the NHS preparing for a big MJ rollout. Starting with BMIs 40+ with three comorbidities, then two, then one. 250,000 people in that rollout over a decade supposedly although I’d be astonished if MJ is still the key treatment in a decade.

I mean, it’s the NHS so it will probs be the NHS key treatment in a decade. Like metformin (shudder) is right now.

@BlackFriYay I have a mild version of what you describe, but not all the time. The feeling is as if my stomach was so full, my swallowing mechanism cannot force more food down. Pretty sure it is an MJ side effect.
Best to get it checked out

Flapearedknave · 09/10/2024 23:53

@BlackFriYay I'm thinking of you.

Om struggling as you all.saod recently staying on plan with water and protein etc

I've now got collagen powder to add to my clear protein so hoping that gets me back on board.

15mg ordered and arriving tomorrow

BlackFriYay · 10/10/2024 08:37

Thank you for the well wishes and kind replies 🙂

I've had the odd symptom that points to GERD / reflux before now so hopefully it's just that. I do find it encouraging to know that some others have had some minor difficulty swallowing certain things on MJ and I'm not a total outlier with that.

I'm definitely going to opt for the sedation @guestusername as I don't fancy attempting it without, it sounds horrid! I'm really glad yours was negative but I'm also really sorry about your loved one. I think anybody would fear the worst in your situation. Anxiety is hugely underestimated isn't it? As somebody who has suffered with anxiety in the past it's quite scary just how physical symptoms are, I've felt so unwell when I was going through it (postpartum)

So I mentioned awhile ago how food suppression ebbs & flows for me. I am on day 7 of having taken my bonus dose of 5mg, & suppression is still quite strong. I should take my next dose today (7.5mg), but don’t really feel like it! I guess I will take it eventually, maybe right before bed.

I reel like that sometimes too. Sometimes feel like I have no suppression, sometimes feel like it's too suppressive! Even with same pen!

We've not heard from @MelissaLouRocks lately, and I can't tag her as she's not on this thread. Anyone know if she's ok? Is she in the Facebook group?

Buffypaws · 10/10/2024 17:13

Does anyone get irritation at the site of injection?

i have been getting itchy redness and a weird hard swelling lately

Edited

I'm OK, thank you for asking, just quiet. I came out of hospital to two family bereavements so been a bit tough.

The good news is the surgery seems to be holding, I'm having bloods done every 48 hours and things are looking positive.

Hope everyone here OK, congrats with all the losses. 💐

Bloody Med Express

They have been happily price matching Family Chemist for a few months. They are the cheapest w/o offers etc.

Today a smart ass informed me that of course they price match but it must be like for Luke offers.
As Family Chemist don't supply needles then they can't match it!

Have fired off an email pointing out that this is an utter cop out and that the 4 needles that Med Express supply cost a few pennies and certainly not the £30 price difference.
I suggested that they price match and keep their needles as I have a box of 200 that cost buttons!

Amen.

Mellissa Lou - sorry to hear things have been tough but glad things looks more stable health wise.

I’m in other news I’ve been given about 200 1ml syringes. Anyone need any for drawing out the 5th dose from a pen?

So sorry to hear of your loss, but I'm so pleased the surgery went well and things are looking up in that respect. I think of you often and wonder how you are. Take care. 💐

Moanranger · 10/10/2024 21:45

@AgathaMystery I could use a few…

KrankyKumquat · 10/10/2024 21:57

@AgathaMystery
Me too, I'm down to my last two and about to order some more.

AgathaMystery · 10/10/2024 22:43

@KrankyKumquat @Moanranger pm me your address and I will send you some. They come in 10 packs which is handy.

Joining this thread. Started in April. 49lbs down on between 2.5-5mg doses, my weight loss has slowed right down but I'm not coping with the side effects of taking a 5mg shot every week. Does anyone split their doses up and jab twice a week and have success?

Have seen this mentioned on a fb group, try a slightly longer needle as that seemed to cure everyone else with same issue.

I got them to price match and put a credit in my account the other week but I went with Oushk in the end as their subscription plan which I'll go on to next month (after using their initial discount code) will work out cheaper in the long run. Medex need to up their game to be competitive and they clearly just can't be arsed!
