Well done @ChunkyMunky that's brilliant. Good luck moving up to 5.

Timetochange24 · 18/09/2024 14:35

I'm hovering at 13 stone and half a measly pound. Been here nearly a week now. That half a pound is taunting me! I feel much better reading about set points and plateaus though - this is the point where I'd normally give up and put the weight back on. Next pen is arriving tomorrow and I'm still feeling good about the whole process. It's really helped.

NippyCrab · 18/09/2024 14:56

I'm not sure about sizes, for me it depends on the retailer and fabric. I'm a 16 but if I was buying trousers I would always get an 18 because of my belly, I have a pair of linen trousers that I love but they look stupid now because my legs and bum are smaller but this fluctuating belly just won't let me get non stretchy clothes. I'm living in leggings for my bottom half, and stretchy jeans because I'm not buying anything. My 18 tops are too big, the 16 is nice and looser. I've lost 1.5 stone and I'm 5.5 for reference. Xx

You will see that 12 soon! I was hovering for ages just above 13 and I did an air punch last week when I did. Xxx

poppym12 · 18/09/2024 15:19

Thanks @NippyCrab. I'm not bothered about other clothes. I've always preferred a loose fit in most things - even when I was a size 10/12. I've never owned any leggings so nothing to fall back on like that.

I've ordered the trousers in the sale (both sizes) and I'll gauge how they fit now after this first month's quite quick loss. I'm expecting it to slow down now anyway so hopefully one of the pairs will look less ridiculous by December. My fattest area is my thighs but as these are very wide leg, they're quite flattering.

weaseleyes · 18/09/2024 15:25

I find clothes sizing so variable and challenging. I don't tend to wear very form-fitting clothes even when slim, and whilst big I tend to skulk in stretchy trousers and loose tunic type things. My current wardrobe - very limited as I'm not much interested in clothes at the best of times and particularly not when I feel so bulky - ranges between a 14 and a 22, so I've no idea what size I am really. It doesn't help that I'm short and quite broadly built, even when I'm very thin. I also hate trying things on and haven't got much spare cash!

I think I shall just rummage through my drawers and dig out stuff I haven't worn for ages because it got too tight and hope that will see me through. I don't want to buy anything till I'm at goal weight, and then I intend to use getting the odd new thing as a way of making myself stay there. I thought I was having a NSV the other day when I found a slightly more fitting fleece-type thing that I'd barely ever worn and thought might fit me better now. I tried it on and it fitted perfectly, so I felt very smug at my evident weight loss. Then I looked at the label and saw it was a 22 - absolutely at the biggest end of my fat clothes! 😀

Mum0ntherun · 18/09/2024 15:36

Oh, Lord! I have the worst sore tummy and cramping. Last night, I ate a ciabatta roll, followed by a couple of squares of chocolate (I thought I was doing well, as I'd normally hoover the bar!). And boy, am I paying for it - any suggestions, please, ladies?

ChunkyMunky · 18/09/2024 16:12

I’ve been a size 20 forever, occasionally get a 22 if I want something particularly loose. Although I’m made up to have lost a stone & half do far, I wouldn’t say I’ve dropped a dress size yet. My existing clothes seem to look a bit better on, but there is no way I’d be the next size down. I think I’d need to loose about 3 stone to get down to a size 18, and then probably another 2 stone to get down to a 16.

I remember being so disappointed to be buying size 16 clothes after I had my first baby (13 years ago!), now it seems like an ambitious goal! Funny how our perceptions change.

I thought I’d gone right off the rails earlier, had a little snack in work and it opened the flood gates to a little bit of this and a little bit of that. Was feeling guilty but have just popped it all into My Fitness Pal, and turns out it was only 400 calories worth, so not feeling too bad now. It wasn’t the best choices ( Kit Kat etc) but I’ll still be within calories for the day so not as worried now. Half hoping that I don’t pay for my little chocolatey indulgence later on, but also desperately looking for signs that the new 5mg is kicking in.

NippyCrab · 18/09/2024 16:45

I've not bought nice clothes for such a long time I wouldn't know where to start with a new wardrobe. I seem to live in dog walking clothes, and I never go anywhere nice that warrants anything more than jeans and a "nice" t shirt or shirt. I read posts on the S&B section with envy.

@Mum0ntherun oh no! Immodium? And buscupan for the cramps. There seems to have been a wee group of us had the scoot. I've stayed away from anything other than dark chocolate because I've had one awful episode of a dodgy tummy and never again!

NippyCrab · 18/09/2024 16:47

Ps I'm now experiencing constipation, I've not had this with MJ before. I don't think I've drunk enough water the last couple of days but I got Lactulose from the pharmacy hopefully it works. I've still to take it. I'm not sure when is the best time.

Mum0ntherun · 18/09/2024 16:55

@NippyCrab Nothing 'explosive' fortunately, 😊 just the worst stomach pains and hard tummy - will pop out to get Buscupan. I think I said never again this morning too😁. With Christmas coming up might be a good opportunity to look for some more dressy clothes for an evening out - equally, why save things for best, dress fabulous on that dog walk 👗👙👠

eeeeeeeee · 18/09/2024 16:57

Ah thank you everyone. I’m still undecided about taking the bonus dose but I understand it more now. Thanks for the tips

@MinervaMcGonagallsCat that’s a lovely compliment!

eeeeeeeee · 18/09/2024 17:00

Also sorry to use this thread as a general food thread, but has anyone tried the M&S “kinder bueno” drink?? I bought the ingredients today (white chocolate milkshake, iced latte, hazelnut syrup). It is incredible and really hits the spot for any dessert cravings! I haven’t had any sweet things really since MJ and this is a relatively guilt free treat

Princessandthepie · 18/09/2024 17:15

I'm 18lbs down now after nearly 7 weeks, and it's only this week my jeans have felt looser, I noticed I'm puling them up more but I don't think I can actually move down a whole size just yet.

But it's nice to look down and see my feet rather than my belly but there's still a long way to go with this belly!

Wingingit11 · 18/09/2024 17:18

@eeeeeeeee I’ve really lost my sweet tooth but have been making amazing ice cream made up of almond milk and protein powder that is amazing and low cal!

Me too @Wingingit11 - I haven't touched the dc's packed lunch supplies for weeks now.

Even though my weightloss has stalled, I'm feeling slimmed down in the strangest places... Shoulder blades and the back of my neck feel different today. Didn't notice they were getting fat, but they're definitely feeling smaller now 😁

Wingingit11 · 18/09/2024 19:08

@Timetochange24 completely blown away too by the need to graze on their leftovers gone! I also loved fizzy drinks and they have just gone too. It is so wierd this is how “normal” minds work. I’m starting to realise how dependent and f*cked up my relationship with food was

MidLifeResurgence74 · 18/09/2024 19:16

I’m not sure this is for me 😢😢Having just finished the worst 48 hours ever through constant diarrhoea, and now feeling worn out and exhausted, I’m reflecting on how tough this journey is. I couldn’t eat for ages, then I could but get bloated as if I’m pregnant if I eat over an amount that is completely unspecified and seemingly arbitrary. That feeling lasts anything up to 12 hours. I’ve lost stamina at the gym because I’m not eating enough but if I try to eat I feel nauseous for days. Is it even worth it?

I’ve had 4 x 2.5
1 x 2.7
1x 3.75

Yes it works but at what cost? I just want to feel normal again.

SilverSprings510 · 18/09/2024 19:40

I’ve lost another 2lbs today, so 1st 3lbs on 2.5. Not feeling any major side effects from 5 yet either.

Week 1: -7
Week 2: -5
Week 3: -3
Week 4: -2

Wingingit11 · 18/09/2024 19:43

@MidLifeResurgence74 that sounds rough. Do you think you’ve had a bug this week?

@Wingingit11 💩 sample currently with GP so I might find out.

Willowy1982 · 18/09/2024 19:50

I've just done my bonus dose, I got 0.8 out of the pen and used a 6mm insulin syringe. It was scary at first, but all OK and didn't hurt. Onwards and upwards. So that's 5 weeks and 12.8lbs lost. Fingers crossed for continued minimal side effects. Sending hugs to everyone struggling with side effects.

weaseleyes · 18/09/2024 20:01

Poor you @MidLifeResurgence74, that sounds rotten. At the very least I'd go back to 2.5, but there's always going to be some people for whom the side effects are worse, and you may just feel it's not worth putting yourself through it.

AuntieDote · 18/09/2024 20:05

@MidLifeResurgence74 - sorry to hear you’re suffering too. I’ve definitely been questioning whether I can carry on over the last two weeks.

I’ve been so hungry today after my first 5 dose yesterday that I’m genuinely questioning whether I did it right! I did actually do it in my thigh instead of my stomach to try to minimise any side effects but wouldn’t have thought it made that much difference?

MidLifeResurgence74 · 18/09/2024 20:11

@AuntieDote I read your long post too and extend my sympathies. For me it was realising how much medication I now take! Anti sickness, extra fibre, anti bloating, etc etc etc. Just seems a lot of additional things to counteract all the side effects. But then rationally I also know that I’m a secret comfort eater and I’ve done almost none of that for nearly seven and that’s a total miracle.
