I've just started this morning after months of research. Feeling nervous but excited. Any other new or existing users want to join support and share successes?

Hi @Latelifelesbian it happened to me too, on day 3 until day 6. Hopefully you don’t get it for that long. Immodium has helped for some people with the same symptoms. There’s a few of us on this thread who have had the same in our first or second dose, a couple of days after injecting.

Has anyone noticed an increased sense of smell as a side effect?

I'm at the beginning of week 2 on 2.5. Lost 3lbs in week one.

Yes!
Yesterday, the smell of doughnuts at the Lidl bakery section was insanely strong and made me gag. So bizarre!

SwiftiesVSLestat · 20/09/2024 08:35

I did a mid week weigh in. And I have lost exactly 14lbs in 2 weeks. An entire stone!

Though I do think a lot was water, my ankles and calves are not as puffy.

I really need to up my protein though. I am prioritising protein and fibre but don’t think I am eating enough protein. So will work on that.

Sorry it’s 2.5 weeks. Not 2.

@Latelifelesbian oh no… this is always my fear. It isn’t easy to run out of a class of children to go to the loo! I wonder if it is the type of food that triggers it, what did you have last night? Hope you’re ok.

Yesterday I had some pasta at lunch and a jacket potato with beans for dinner. Also had half a doughnut for pudding.

I think I’m going to try smaller more frequent meals today as wondering if that will help

Will pick up some Imodium later! I have a trip to the theatre tomorrow and really don’t want to crap myself 🤣😂🙈

Yes I think it has in some ways, better on the 5mg now and feeling more suppression.

It just worries me when I come off this, will I put some back on.. especially if I want to start TTC/fall pregnant.

I know what you mean. I discussed this with the GP, moving to another but he said all the meds in that class cause weight gain / cravings so would probably be the same.

They said about metformin and put me on that to start with, I wonder if it could be used for maintenance. Not sure if it would do the trick though. It's a pain.

Orangesandlemons77 · 20/09/2024 09:14

On protein: I have just bought some of those Huel bottles and also have some Puritan shakes in the house which are nice. I'm wondering if these might be good for when don't fancy eating much.

InfoSecInTheCity · 20/09/2024 09:20

I can't stomach the meal replacement shakes I find them revolting but if you like the flavour then they're as good a way as any to add in some protein.

My go to's are

  • boiled eggs I always have some in the fridge
  • beef jerky, I like the Ember beef range that is refrigerated
  • longley farms full day cottage cheese
  • full fat real Greek yoghurt.

Small amounts of food but very high in protein.

simb · 20/09/2024 09:58

My vegetarian protein go tos are:
Tofu
Beans/pulses/nuts
Fage yoghurt
Flavourless collagen powder

Also meaning to try:
Quark
Cottage cheese

Trying to avoid upf protein yogurts, bars and drinks

simb · 20/09/2024 10:16

Oh yes and eggs and cheese!

sylv165 · 20/09/2024 10:23

@Latelifelesbian day 3 must be the day for side effects! I’m not as bad as you by the sounds of it, but my bowels are definitely a little looser and I feel a bit sicky today. But nothing too bad. And on the plus side, it is my daughter’s birthday today and she wanted a birthday breakfast of pancakes, croissants and Nutella. I didn’t even feel like having anything, was able to just ignore it all and have an apple instead. I really am surprised by how quickly it has kicked in!

raspberrymeringue · 20/09/2024 10:40

Morning all.

Week 3
Day 1

SW 85.7k
CW 82.9k

Lots of sides on 2.5mg in week 2, so I seriously considered giving up. Eventually decided to do a half dose (30 clicks) this morning. Will see how that goes.

OvaHere · 20/09/2024 11:08

On week two here and I'm finding I'm really tired this week. It's 11am and I can barely keep my eyes open despite sleeping fine last night.

SwiftiesVSLestat · 20/09/2024 11:18

Thanks for the protein suggestions.

I think I don’t eat anything with cows milk in, so cottage cheese etc is out. Although maybe you can get non cows milk cottage cheese. Will have a look.

I find eggs really filling for the amount of protein, they have and it stops me eating anything else. So calories wise I end up barely eating anything.

I think I am going to make a chickpea curry for dinner. Get more fibre and protein in. Even if it’s a small portion. I think I am finding it hard to balance getting enough calories when protein and fibre is so filling.

Need to take the puppy to weighed today. So going to walk him to the vets and get some exercise in. Working from home kills my step count!

SybillaB · 20/09/2024 12:43

1 week after 1st injection and 2lb lost. Normally I would feel disappointed and eat chocolate thinking I've been depriving myself for little effect. However I have lost my taste for chocolate and sweet things so feel quite positive that this is just the beginning. Just had my 2nd injection so onwards and downwards on the scales.

HippoPortlyMouse · 20/09/2024 12:48

I am struggling with getting enough protein. I'm realising my diet before MJ was pretty poor as well, although I was eating more, I was heavy on the carbs. I don't really fancy bread and pasta now, thankfully, but replacing it with decent protein is hard. I am bored of cheese (and I never thought I'd say that)!

@simb which vegetarian collagen do you use? I'm assuming it isn't actually collagen, (which is an animal product). I looked at the Ancient and Brave 'collagyn' one but it didn't look like it measured up well to actual collagen.

I have some protein powder and bars, but they're not ideal and I don't want them to be a long term solution. Like @InfoSecInTheCity I don't like the shakes although I've got an unflavoured Huel powder that goes well blended with fruit.

InfoSecInTheCity · 20/09/2024 12:53

If anyone here is a cottage cheese hater then you have to try Longley Farms full fat cottage cheese.

It is a completely different experience to all of the other brands which are lumpy sour pots of disappointment. The LF one is thick, like stand your spoon up in it thick, creamy and delicious. Must be the full fat one though. I get it from Morrisons, Asda or Home Bargains.

Same. I'm a usually very clean eater, but a can of diet coke sorted me out this morning!

I'm also going to delay future doses by a day each time to get them closer to the weekend when it's less problematic to be sleepy!

raspberrymeringue · 20/09/2024 14:57

OvaHere I am too. So hard when you are trying to work or do day to day activities

Richtea67 · 20/09/2024 15:02

So after 1 week first weigh in:

SW: 14.5
CW: 14
GW: 11

I'm pleased with that. I'm aiming for slow and steady so thinking this may drop to 1-2lbs per week, which for me is ideal. I'm not calorie counting as I can get obsessed...focusing on good habits, reduced portions and reducing carbs. A bit of tiredness, feeling run down but I've also had a cold. Fingers crossed no issues after second injection. Good luck everyone!

Thelastdietever · 20/09/2024 15:23

Weigh in day 1lb week 3 that’s 13lb total yay I lost 12 lb before MJ so really cuffed despite the dreaded Covid grand total 1 st 11 lb so pleased

OvaHere · 20/09/2024 15:28

raspberrymeringue · 20/09/2024 14:57

I just realised my period is starting so it will be that too. I'm always more tired at this point in my cycle. Hopefully I'll be less so next week because I've ended up cancelling stuff this week because I'm knackered.

drowningbutwaving · 20/09/2024 15:42

Week 3 of 2.5mg. No negative side effects and 4.5lbs lost.

I'm thinking about using the bonus dose to go up to 5mg next since I've had no issues so far. Has anyone else done that?

StanleyCup · 20/09/2024 16:11

I’ve really not had the best week this and im wondering if this is pretty normal? Im at the end of week 2 of 2.5mg. First week i lost 7lbs. This week nothing at all. Not even 1/2lb
Ive had really good suppression, my calories have barely gone over 800 a day and i’ve worked out most days. No serious side effects either except a little constipation maybe but nothing major? Am i just one poo away from a whoosh or am i doing something wrong?? Please help i hope this doesnt carry on.
