I've just started this morning after months of research. Feeling nervous but excited. Any other new or existing users want to join support and share successes?

Great thank you.

Yes, this suppression is much better and chance to practice the good habits I want to take forward.

I have the same dilemma. Stay on 2.5 or go up. Still not sure yet.

Also pondering this. 2.5 working well - my instinct is to stay with it.

OvaHere · 18/09/2024 20:50

Week 2 Day 1

Did my 2nd injection last night. Felt fairly normal so far today, it's a bit different from the first week. As someone said above I've got more of a normal appetite for meals still but no urge to snack.

I think in the first week days 2-4 had the strongest suppression so maybe it will kick in a little bit more tomorrow. It's a bit weird because last week I could tell within a few hours that I'd taken something but this week I've kept wondering if I did it right. I've even been back to check the pen to be sure 2 doses have been used.

Perhaps this means by week 4 I will be one of those people who needs to go up to 5mg? Last week I was think perhaps I could just stay on 2.5mg but maybe not.

Sadteacher · 18/09/2024 20:54

If the 2.5 and 5 pens are the same price, why wouldn’t you get the 5? Even if you only use half the dose? At least you have the option to go up if needed. Assuming they are the same price with different companies, I know they are with medexpress. I’m saying that from a position of barely any notable side effects though!

sylv165 · 18/09/2024 21:12

Oh wow, I said earlier that I wasn't sure I felt much suppression, but I take it all back. I could only eat about a quarter of my dinner and literally feel like I have had a massive 3 course meal.

No good reason. I think it's just a weird mindset thing.

discomongoose · 18/09/2024 21:52

Hi all, joining the thread having started yesterday! Day 2 today, no real side effects so far and was thinking that meant I'm out of the woods but have just been reading above that they've hit later for other people so guess I need to wait and see.

So far I've been pleasantly surprised by the effects, I was worried it would do nothing or so me eating at all but seems to be a middle ground so far where I can eat and enjoy my meals but not snacking in between. Will see how that changes over the next few days though.

For me I am getting noticeable effects from the 2.5ml.

I would prefer to go up, as and when I need to rather than just because I can.

I think it’s just a preference. While some people think ‘why wouldn’t you go up’ my mind set is ‘why would I, if I don’t need to’

InfoSecInTheCity · 19/09/2024 06:42

I will be taking my 3rd dose tonight and had a 1lb loss this week.

Less loss this week than last but my period is due to start within the next few days and the week before is always a slow lose week for me historically.

Suppression is still good, easily sticking to my calorie count and no side effects to date.

I started low carbing a couple of weeks before I started the MJ, so my total weight loss so far is:

SW (19th August) - 218lb
CW (19th Sept) - 203 lb
Loss - 15lb

suze12 · 19/09/2024 07:31

InfoSecInTheCity · 18/09/2024 15:38

@suze12 I track everything in MyFitnessPal.

My big problem is drinking my calories mindlessly in the form of iced lattes.

If I didn't keep track of them then I could easily drink 12-15 a day, I just refill my glass every time I get up, I bloody love iced lattes and I have no effect from caffeine so don't feel a need to stop because of being jittery or not sleeping.

Problem is they're about 100 calories each using skimmed milk and they rack up carb intake.

So I have to limit myself to a maximum of 3 a day.

Yes I’m using myfitnesspal too. I didn’t want to have to pay for a tracker on top of Mounjaro as it’s expensive enough as it is.

well done on reducing down to 3 a day. This is how I’m trying to approach things- reducing frequency and quantity rather than completely cutting them out as we’ve got to form the habits for life after the injections have stopped.

suze12 · 19/09/2024 07:34

Tailrunner · 18/09/2024 18:50

I read this and had to double check I hadn't sleep posted somehow. These are exactly the habits I want to break! Hope we both manage.
I'm on d5 post my first injection of 2.5 and the suppression is easing a bit so I can now easily eat 900-1000 calories rather than forcing them down. Still no urge to snack or eat sweet treats and I'm satisfied at the end of my meal. It's amazing. I've never felt like this about food.

Yes I hope we both do too. I’m so fed up of this constant desire to treat myself. I’ve got to learn to curb it and really want to try and use the time on Mounjaro to re-train my brain in that sense.

It sounds like it’s working really well for you- good luck!

raspberrymeringue · 19/09/2024 07:40

Morning all,

@Seldomseenkid @mimosa1
My sides on week 2 have been awful. I was seriously thinking about stopping. Also week 2 suppression is just too much. I think I will join your gang and try 1.75mg for week 3. Like simb I don’t want my appetite to be completely suppressed.

Justasmallgless · 19/09/2024 07:44

My thoughts for what it's worth on increasing dosage.
5mg is the clinical dose as I understand it for weight loss.
Our bodies are all very different and respond differently to drugs. 2.5mg is a starter dose to get your body used to the side effects and get into good habits.
If you are losing weight and getting into good habits then stay on 2.5mg. If you feel the effects wear off quickly and you are ready to move up then do.
Steady weight loss at 1-2lbs is the aim of the game here.
We have all been there at the beginning of a duet with a huge whoosh and then disheartened when you don't then lose or only lose 1lb.

1lb is great and should be a weekly aim! Don't forget - it's a Guinea pig!

These threads are great for support but don't compare yourself to other's journeys.

You have your own journey to travel downwards and we are in this for the long haul

mimosa1 · 19/09/2024 08:00

That's so interesting @raspberrymeringue - sorry you're feeling lousy though. Would you say they were worse than the side effects of week 1 or the same for you?

doodleschnoodle · 19/09/2024 08:03

Two weeks today since I started. 12.1lbs down. Absolutely delighted and amazed. I'm now back the weight I was before DC2 more than two years ago.

SW: 203lbs
CW: 190.9

20bloodypounds · 19/09/2024 09:09

@raspberrymeringue that sounds like a good idea to take a smaller dose. This way of losing weight has the be manageable and healthy over the short term and the long term.

@doodleschnoodle well done, even if weight loss slows down a little you've made a fantastic start.

Apart from a bit of nighttime heartburn in week one (which felt miserable enough at the time!) I've been very lucky with good appetite suppression and few side effects - strangely sore muscles in neck and shoulder...

I notice that the first couple of days after an injection my gut is slower, not constipated but just not going. After that I've been fine although the overall quantity is much less (sorry TMI). I imagine that's because I'm eating less food, but also there is no junk so my body is extracting all the nutrition it can and there is much less waste.

I once ready that processed bread often includes an 'inert' ingredient the purpose of which is to stop the dough sticking to the factory machines, making it run smoother through the process and making cleaning easier. Probably did the same to my guts!

sylv165 · 19/09/2024 09:22

@Justasmallgless I totally agree with your point on sustainable weight loss. I hesitated a little to join the thread as I know I am generally a very slow loser and didn't want to get disheartened seeing others huge drops compared to mine. I have never lost more than 2lbs a week even on the most restrictive diets, so I'm hoping for 2/3lbs a month and expecting lots of stalls.

raspberrymeringue · 19/09/2024 09:52

@mimosa1 thanks for asking. Week 1 was great for me. Slight headache that came and went , occasional lightheadedness and I could feel the MJ effect waining as my appetite started to return on day 5. Week 2 has been extreme suppression to the point I’m struggling to eat, and along with the above, massive tiredness, fatigue, reflux and a general feeling of being unwell, and a heart racing panic attack in the middle of the night (which to be honest really scared me). So the day after that I was thinking I’m done. But spoke to DH, who has to take many meds for various issues, and he told me you do have to give your body a chance to get used to new meds. And I’ve taken advice on here about multivitamins and electrolytes and eating little and often, which isn’t what I really wanted to do as IF was my plan. So I’ve decided to continue with a reduced dose for the next jab and see how it goes. Sorry that was a bit long. I am getting results though.

Can I ask why you wanted to do IF?

caffelattetogo · 19/09/2024 11:39

After no effect on week one of 2.5 (and feeling a bit disappointed) on week two it has started working and now my appetite has started to go. Feeling much more positive now. I wonder if it's been a time of the month thing (had my period this weekend). Anyone else noticed monthly fluctuations?

raspberrymeringue · 19/09/2024 11:54

@Justasmallgless I hoped to get the habit of IF for going forward. I don’t see myself on MJ indefinitely, and feel I need a plan to maintain once I’ve reached my goal.

Perhaps whilst your body is adjusting to MJ stick to little and often as you seem to be having a lot of side effects.
Now that I'm settled I'm doing IF without trying as not hungry Ian's the mornings at all, so hopefully you will be the same once you get used to it.

There are lots of health benefits to IF

raspberrymeringue · 19/09/2024 12:50

@Justasmallgless Thanks. How long have you been on MJ for, and when did you add in IF?

HOL2024 · 19/09/2024 13:29

About this bonus dose - am I looking for pen needles to hard twist or insulin needles for extraction? Any help would be appreciated

Hildabaggins · 19/09/2024 14:21

I took my second dose today, I’ve lost 4lb this week. I’m happy with that.

I need to have healthier food though. I am still eating chocolate and cake, albeit a much smaller portion than before.

Whereisthewine · 19/09/2024 14:31

Day 4 week two and suppression def wearing off, feeling cold and achey trying to hold of weighing until Sunday which will be dose 3 of 2.5
