I've just started this morning after months of research. Feeling nervous but excited. Any other new or existing users want to join support and share successes?

Hi there! I'm thinking very hard about starting this. But I'm so so scared about injecting myself. Does it hurt? Where do people inject? Sorry for the questions!

I was the same. It is the thought of it which is worse for me. I had to do a finger prick blood test at home once and nearly passed out, had to get my husband to do it without me looking!
It sounds weird but I ‘practised’ poking myself in the tummy with a pen a few times waiting for my order. When I came to do the actual one I pretended it was just another biro. I know it sounds bonkers. Anyway, it really didn’t hurt, the needle is so thin.

Arlanymor · 01/09/2024 16:55

👋Hi, may I join in too?

Have thinking about it since the spring and after a summer of being sick of feeling like a moose I have taken the plunge and placed my first order of Mounjaro - all being well I hope to start on Wednesday.

I’m 45 and have just under four stone to jettison. A medical condition, then lockdown and then perimenopause in the last few years have all contrived to make losing weight ten times harder than it used to be. Until 40 I didn’t struggle half as much with my weight, so injection assistance it is.

I’m naturally an hourglass so podge does tend to cling to me. I’m not looking for supermodel status, just to be leaner, lighter and stronger. Also toying with the idea of doing weights, but would like to shift a bit before I brave the local boxing gym… good luck to everyone!

ThisJustFinch · 01/09/2024 17:03

I’ve just finished my third week of Mounjaro and I am 15lbs down. Me, a fast food addict with PCOS and an allergy to exercise!!

Welcome to all newbies and to anyone who is apprehensive, I encourage you to just go for it.

I inject in my thigh, make sure to have 100g protein a day, drink at least 2l of water a day and haven’t touched fast food/takeaway as don’t fancy it. Other than that no huge changes - have still had treats, meals out etc. Tho appreciate I am lucky and have not had many side effects

famcynags · 01/09/2024 18:14

So I've just ordered via Superdrug. Currently away so will send my pictures tomorrow when home and hope to start on Friday. I have my vitamins and I eat well, I'm hoping it reduces my wine craves. I will do a start weight when I do the first injection.

Trounlet · 01/09/2024 18:49

Can I join?
My first injection arrives tomorrow, I've been losing weight since May by eating healthily. 8kg so far, but I've fallen off the wagon and put 2kg back on over the school holidays.

I've been researching injections and settled on Mounjaro, and I hope to get to 90kg by 20th Dec.

Good luck to all, if we had a headache we'd take the tablets and I see Mounjaro as a similar thing.

SW 112KG
CW 106KG
TW 90KG (interim, overall my target is 80kg)

poppy80 · 01/09/2024 20:39

Some amazing success stories here, really encouraging. I'm a bit anxious going about side effects but trying to stay positive. I'm also 6 pounds heavier than I thought. 3 stone to lose.

CW 13.6
BMI 31.3
GW 10.2

Good luck everyone! Let's keep encouraging each other and fingers crossed for some amazing weight loss this month 🤞

@notnotenoughcaffeine I was also really worried about injecting myself but I honestly didn't feel a thing. I watched the video twice before and injected into the front of my thigh. Painless and quick.

Also I have teenager daughters, who I don't want knowing what I'm doing. Any good hiding ideas for in the fridge?

Me too, I'm thinking top shelf behind the jars of pickles etc in a tomato puree box

It only needs to be in the fridge before you start using it. I hid it at the back of the salad drawer. Now it’s in my wardrobe

raspberrymeringue · 01/09/2024 21:29

Hi all, can I join? Been debating over Mounjaro for a few months. Finally bit the bullet and ordered from Pharmacy2U, and I'm now waiting to hear.

BMI 31.5
Would love to lose 3 st which would make my BMI 24.5
But would settle for 2.5 st as I've struggled so much on the past.

famcynags · 01/09/2024 21:37

Hmmm, my teen has taken a new interest into cooking so it will have to be something that she doesn't like. Maybe fish paste box or something. Also I thought I read that before it's needs to be in the fridge before the first use then fine to be at room temp?

Samisam86 · 01/09/2024 21:44

I have taken my first injection this morning. Feeling fine so far. Definitely not eaten as much today. I'm hoping this will give me my confidence back after having a really unhealthy relationship with food and binge eating evenings/night. Anyway first evening now and so far no snacks etc and no desire to eat anything. Got to the point I avoid situations because I feel like I have out too much weight on, avoid most social situations and just want my life back. Here's to a good week for everyone. Can't wait for the results to start coming.

EJA24 · 01/09/2024 22:01

Hi all, started MJ on Friday 10pm and zero side effects so far. Don’t feel like it’s done anything to be honest but calorie counting anyway and making good choices - I guess I’ll notice the effects more when I fall off the willpower wagon! 🤣 Anyway SW 16.7 and 5’4 so have A LOT to lose. Really hope this works as I’m so fed up feeling how I do.

Peachesandfizz · 01/09/2024 22:26

First day - started off feeling sick and couldn't face eating lunch so I had a protein milkshake. Had a small tea of gammon, veg and salad and a yoghurt. I don't feel hungry, but I don't feel full either. I just don't feel the urge to go eat 10 biscuits now the kids are in bed. Willpower or Mounjaro - who knows?!
Weird side effect, my skin is sore! All over my shoulders, back, bum and chest. Just feels sore to the touch like when you have a virus. Weird.

BaldricksWife · 01/09/2024 22:29

Literally just done my first jab. Hoping I wake up in the morning not in Ganet mode.

Izzydogmum · 01/09/2024 22:40

Hi all!

Did first injection yesterday, only a little heartburn today other than that no side effects yet.

Thought it wasn't working but realised tonight I hadn't snacked at all this weekend and tummy wasn't rumbling for lunch as soon as it used to.

Tomorrow is the real test, back to work (WFH) normally I would get bored/snack around 10.30-11, so let's see what happens!

SW 305lbs
Interim target 275lbs (Xmas if possible!)

Good luck to all of you.

MeandBobbyMcGoo · 01/09/2024 22:49

I've just put in an order this afternoon with Asda. Really hope I get approved soon. I weigh 14st 14 and my knees hurt and creak very noticeably when I go up or down stairs. I'm nervous to see how my body reacts but really need a boost to get started to lose some weight. I'd like to be 11st.

acaciabluebell · 01/09/2024 22:52

Hi everyone! I am new to mounjaro, I took my first injection of 2.5mg three days ago.

First few days I felt sick at the thought of food and my neck/back felt sore to the touch which I thought was really strange.

Bit of info about me, I am 28yo, almost 12 months postpartum. Instead of losing the baby weight I've gained weight over the last year from comfort eating due to traumatic birth / high appetite due to breastfeeding. Finished BF last week so I can get started with mounjaro and get serious about weight loss!

Height: 170cm
SW: 101kg
GW #1: 90kg (pre baby weight)
GW #2: 80kg
UGW: 70kg

Hello!

I'd love to join for support as only my partner knows I'm doing this in real life. I'm 39, 12 stone 5, 5 foot nothing so my goal is the low 9 stones, although I'll be really pleased with anything under 10 stone.

I took my first jab (2.5) today and had quite an emotional response... I've cried 3 times today!! But feeling very positive as the effects were noticeable after only a couple of hours. Reduced appetite and a feeling of fullness. And just not being that bothered about food. I don't think this was just placebo... definitely think the meds kicked in.

@Peachesandfizz I also have the weird skin feeling like you have when you have the flu... hoping it'll reduce by tomorrow. But other than that it's been a good day and I'm making a huge effort to follow all the advice from those who have gone before - drinking plenty but not with meals, smaller meals and snacks, focusing on nutritious wholefoods. I think it's going to take some effort to get enough calories and nutrition in and this is something I'm absolutely resolved to do as I don't want to exacerbate my existing hair thinning, so I have supplements and have planned for really nutrient rich meals and snacks.

Today I've managed just under 1200 calories and really needed to 'down the hatch' some natural yoghurt to get me up to this by the end of the day... hoping this doesn't lead to any nausea!

Really appreciative of everyone's experiences and insights as we go on this journey together. The main group is so informative! Would love to hear from other newbies.

If anyone needs a medexpresss code let me know and I'll pm you.

OneDisasterToTheNext · 02/09/2024 00:24

Hi,

I've taken my first dose this evening. I'd been considering using Mounjaro for a while, did my research, spoke to someone I knew in real life who has had huge success with this, and finally took the plunge.

One problem, my partner is unsupportive. I appreciate that he loves me as I am but he keeps referring to me 'injecting sh*t into my body' and it's wearing a bit thin. I'm really going to need the support of the group I think!

Excited to get the excess weight off!!

Trenwith · 02/09/2024 06:29

Good morning all. I started my first Mounjaro jab Sat evening. Didn’t eat until 3pm Sunday then lots of D&V. Have 3 st to loose and nothing is shifting since peri/menopause. Hopefully will gets lots of motivation from this Sept group!

Justasmallgless · 02/09/2024 06:43

Morning
Can I join please as did my first injection today. At 52 I've tried pretty much everything going but menopause has hit and I need something different.
The food noise and emotional eating resonates with me and has done since a child.
I have just been diagnosed with sleep apnoea which am so ashamed of and weight is a contributory factor. Was mortified on the phone appointment has hadn't realised just how bad it had got. Wearing stretchy dresses for work, comfy gym clothes out of work and hating getting b dressed for any type of going out

CW 16 st
BMI 31.5
GE 12.5 st

Sadteacher · 02/09/2024 07:31

I’m back to school tomorrow so hopefully I’ll continue with little to no side effects! I had a sore neck too but didn’t associate with mounjaro, but nothing else really. Just feel a little bit bloated after eating.
I am also on HRT, and hobble around with sore joints so am hoping the jab/ weight loss will have an impact there too.
@Justasmallgless will weight loss help reverse the sleep apnea? I know I snore quite a lot since being over weight.

Peachesandfizz · 02/09/2024 07:55

@simb I am glad someone else has the soreness, I don't feel quite as weird now! I've woken up and it's still there and I ache! Hope it subsides for both of us soon.

I didn't get anywhere near my calories in yesterday due to feeling sick. I need to make more of a conscious effort today. I've woken feeling hungry.
