I've just started this morning after months of research. Feeling nervous but excited. Any other new or existing users want to join support and share successes?

@OneDisasterToTheNext I've not told my partner. I've not told anyone. I know he won't be supportive due to the cost so I'll just tell family I'm calorie counting (again!)

@simb I am glad someone else has the soreness, I don't feel quite as weird now! I've woken up and it's still there and I ache! Hope it subsides for both of us soon.

I didn't get anywhere near my calories in yesterday due to feeling sick. I need to make more of a conscious effort today. I've woken feeling hungry.

@Peachesandfizz I hope you feel better. Mine is definitely subsiding although not gone yet. I hope your nausea improves as it's really really vital to eat enough. It's a strange feeling to have when dieting isn't it! I actually do hope that I can learn the right lessons and learn how to cope with hunger whilst on MJ... hopefully this is just how it feels in the first day or so after a jab and then it settles. As much as I want to lose weight I also want to be able to learn about my appetite and portion control and keep my nutrients up, not just spend the day trying desperately to eat!!

I've ordered it yesterday but only have 2/3 stone to lose! BMI is 30.
12s10 at 5ft4. Ideal weight 9s7-10 stone. (Size 10)
I'm wondering if I'll even be approved. I'm really hopeful that I will.
I've tried everything diet wise and know how to cook healthily/count cals/check macronutrients/sleep more exercise eat less. Nothing seems to stick for more than a week!

Ordered from Asda.

hello! I am very similar to you - 12 stone 10 but 5 ft 3 and seriously contemplating this . got a hectic few weeks, so will likely register in 3-4 weeks . please keep posting as i'd love to follow your journey. I'm almost 60 so interested to hear from anyone if age makes a difference - and also what happens with all the saggy skin ? l

MrsEmilyGilmore · 02/09/2024 08:48

@Thisjustfinch thanks for posting - I have PCOS too and am nervous about whether this is going to cause any additional issues.

I picked MJ as my SIL has been using it for a few months and said it's done amazing things for her.
Luckily DH is fully on board but I won't be telling anyone else I'm doing it.

I injected my first dose last night and have my fingers and toes crossed that this works - too embarrassed to post my current weight but I need to post probably 7/8 stone Blush

Feeling slightly nauseous this morning but not sure if that's MJ or psychosomatic tbh.

Also I have teenager daughters, who I don't want knowing what I'm doing. Any good hiding ideas for in the fridge?

I'm so glad you asked this! As not telling anyone and I'm not sure what to do with the pen if I get approved. So fridge until you use it then it can be stored anywhere as long as not too warm?

Purplehearts757 · 02/09/2024 09:33

Morning,it the beginning of day 5 im not feeling very hungry but it is there! Got my big cup of electrolytes ready for work Hope everyone has a good monday x

HippoPortlyMouse · 02/09/2024 10:11

Well, I've done it - first injection managed! Prepping for the jab was fine, I followed each step carefully. Holding a needle to my skin was pretty scary, but once I'd found my courage, it didn't hurt at all to actually stick the needle in & inject. Thank you to everyone who told me it would be ok!

My pens are going to live in a lined Tupperware box in the fridge, bottom drawer, under the salad. DH does know I'm taking medication, but I've not gone into any details after his first initial grumble, so he probably just assumes I've ordered diet pills off the internet.

Now to cross fingers and hope side effects are minimal! Here's hoping we all have a less hungry day.

I’ve not told anyone either.

First day - started off feeling sick and couldn't face eating lunch so I had a protein milkshake. Had a small tea of gammon, veg and salad and a yoghurt. I don't feel hungry, but I don't feel full either. I just don't feel the urge to go eat 10 biscuits now the kids are in bed. Willpower or Mounjaro - who knows?!
Weird side effect, my skin is sore! All over my shoulders, back, bum and chest. Just feels sore to the touch like when you have a virus. Weird.

Mine too. I thought I may have slept weird but that's interesting.

It's hardly a lie - you are. All we're doing is 'dieting', probably like we've all done before - the only difference is we're using a medication to help.

YoureMyWifeNowDave · 02/09/2024 13:08

Hi everyone, I’ve just sent off my verification photo to start mounjaro so I’m hoping to be approved soon, I need to lose at least 3 stone, I’m 52, perimenopausal and currently shaped like a barrel

20bloodypounds · 02/09/2024 13:36

20 pounds! That's what I've put on in the last 2 years (from an already overweight position). It has to stop. So I'm joining you and have ordered Mounjaro. Just waiting for the consultation. Fingers crossed. I actually feel really nervous about it all, worried about side effects etc.

Elephantino · 02/09/2024 13:42

Took my first injection yesterday at 10am, ate a little less yesterday but think that was my own willpower there.

One thing I noticed is I am really cold!

Slept well. Woke up feeling cold. No appetite at all but have just had beans on toast and really enjoyed it. Have drank 3 x 800ml bottles of water this morning at work but only 2 pees so will keep an eye on that. Drank one coffee but not fancied anymore which is unusual for me.

I weigh each day as I like to see the variation rather than just once a week and get down about numbers of scales. Was interestingly 2lbs down this morning. My variation is usually 1 pound up or down.

Hope everyone is having a good day.

InfoSecInTheCity · 02/09/2024 13:52

A bit of a surprise because I was sure they'd say no, but I've just been prescribed Mounjaro by the diabetes clinic so I will be starting on Friday as need to have a few days on no insulin and increased metformin before starting the Mounjaro.

Starting BMI is 32, weight 209lb, height 5ft 8. I already eat low carb, under 1500 calories a day and swim 3 times a week so interested to see how this will change up my weightloss.

Lovethat · 02/09/2024 14:24

What are people eating during the day. I'm wanting to plan what I eat a bit more so I don't end up either not eating or eating things that will upset my stomach.

I'm starting next week and have ordered some protein powder, electrolytes amd multi vitamins

Sadteacher · 02/09/2024 15:47

@20bloodypounds I was so nervous too. I think it is common on here people have done lots of research and worked up to being brave enough to order.

@Lovethat I always have salad for lunch anyway ( so why am I three stone overweight!?) I normally smother with Mayo ( maybe that’s why then!) but haven’t fancied it as much the last few days.
I’ve eaten the same family dinners so far so my husband and son have pretty much decided what they fancy and I’ve managed ok so far. Again, it’s always fairly healthy veg chilli, meat and 2 veg, pinch of nom recipes type of food. It’s probably portion size to watch for me being short, and my wine habit not helping.

I made oats with seeds and sultanas plain yoghurt and milk for breakfast, lunch was leftover bean stew with broccoli and cheese, snacks have been Brazil nuts and apricots. Also had a collagen drink which has protein. Not sure what's for dinner yet but I'm avoiding diet foods in favour of normal healthy wholefoods in controlled portions and calorie counting. I'll probably do tofu and veg with some noodles. Drinking plenty.

Trounlet · 02/09/2024 16:41

What are people taking protein powder and electrolytes for. I'm already on multivitsnut wondering about these too.

Thelastdietever · 02/09/2024 16:41

I’ve took it oh how I held my breath 😬😬😬

SW 21st 9lb
BMI 50 omg that’s bad
goal less than above

calories today so far 820 using MFP

Elephantino · 02/09/2024 17:25

@Lovethat I already ate pretty healthily
My downfall is snacking and wine/cider so I'm going to hope MJ helps with all the wee extras that cause me to maintain/ gain weight.

I had piri piri chicken breast with baby potatoes and brocolli last night it didn't seem to upset my stomach but granted I only took first jab at 10am.

Drinking more water.

Belindabelle · 02/09/2024 19:03

Just posted on the August thread by mistake.

Ordered today, coming Wednesday will start Friday.

Away from home today so will weigh on my home scales on Wednesday.

Mrsw123 · 02/09/2024 19:45

Mine is sitting in the fridge and am going to go for it Thursday night - so worried I'm going to get horrific side effects!

Trounlet · 02/09/2024 20:01

Mine arrived today and I've injected this evening a mixture of trepidation around the possible side effects and optimistic that I will hit my goal weight.

YoureMyWifeNowDave · 02/09/2024 20:05

Just had an email to say Royal Mail are delivering mine tomorrow, nervous and excited at the same time!

piscofrisco · 02/09/2024 20:11

I'm starting tomorrow morning. Had it in the fridge for a month. Bit scared of the side effects. But more scared I will be one of the people it doesn't work for, because I'm so miserable being larger and nothing else has worked.
