@UsernameTryAnother I use Asda for that reason so I can collect

@Pinkjenny I eat carbs every day. Whether bread jacket or pasta/rice

I lost 9lbs my first week. Yes Somme is water but you do need to eat

At first I was worried as eating 3 meals a day or 2 and a shake and many staying so full they can't eat

I was told on another mj thread that need to eat

Those who don't eat won't lose so much weight as body think's being starved and shuts self down

Or something like that. Prob haven't explained well
But yes to eat carbs and protein

cosylife · 25/08/2024 14:58

@Pinkjenny I eat carbs everyday and lost 12 lbs last week, I even had a bottle of wine and a takeaway curry. I agree with what others have said, it’s more a focus to increase protein to protect muscle mass rather than trying to be carb free.

Personally I couldn’t live without carbs ha

Just getting a bit concerned/confused. I've seen a few comments on here from people avoiding carbs. I know we need to stick to protein and hit our protein target, but if I'm staying within a deficit, why would it matter if I eat carbs? Bearing in mind I only took the first jab yesterday, will carbs have an adverse effect?

Trying to do things properly and would welcome any advice!

Carbs to me are veg and fruit. I eat a small amount of fruit such as half a banana n my smoothie and a fair amount of veg, Starch is potatoes, rice, pasta. I think some confuse starch with carbs and some avoid carbs and starch to do keto. And nearly all are keeping an eye on protein for muscle mass but that only makes sense if exercise is happening, It makes sense to me to figure out a sustainable diet.

Thank you!

I've come out to a christening with dh and I'm determined this will be the last event I attend feeling like I look like crap.

re: carbs. I make a point of eating carbs before I workout every day, because the one time I didn't I was quite lightheaded and didn't feel well by the time I was done.

I've been 'dieting' most of my life so I default to relatively low carb (salads, lean meats) especially during the work week. It's been a specific change to add carbs (usually in the form of a whole meal bread roll from M&S with ham). I'm also having eggs regularly.

Princessandthepie · 25/08/2024 16:27

I feel really lethargic and tired today and hungry!

FlappingMadly · 25/08/2024 16:39

I can’t get on with the apps, having to log macros etc. So am noting every meal in a notebook. I found it interesting that the shake I’ve had every morning for years is 386 calories, slightly more or less, depending on what I add. I’ve never really factored in these calories.

happygertie · 25/08/2024 16:53

I know it is only early days but I am now day 4 after my first injection and woke up hungry this morning and craving something sweet (think I might be due my period) but I've not had much suppression since my injection on Thursday. Have anyone had similar but then gone on to feel the effects on 2nd,3rd and 4th injection of 2.5 ?

I know it's early days and that 2.5 isn't a therapeutic dose but it feels disheartening when so many do get suppression from the off and even continue on 2.5 for an additional month.

GoodLuckBabe · 25/08/2024 17:03

@happygertie yes me! I even started a thread asking whether I was immune after a couple of days of first dose. I lost a measly 1lb the first week, 3lb the second, 2lb the third and then 6lb the fourth. I have a 5mg pen but thinking I might get another 2.5mg one as since last week I have felt really good and able to eat but also able to stick to well within my calories. I think it builds up in your system to an extent.

GoodLuckBabe · 25/08/2024 17:05

@doodles55 my sharps bin from Voy is very stiff. Took me ages to open it as was shut fast when it arrived. I did manage eventually but then it got stuck again when I thought I had just closed it part-way. Now using one another provider sent.

happygertie · 25/08/2024 17:07

@GoodLuckBabe thanks for the reassurance. Those are good loses, I would made up with those. I don't think it helps that I don't have much suppression and I'm bloated so feel bigger than I did before I injected.

I don't want massive loses or full suppression but at the min I could eat a scabby horse!
Hopefully next week I will start to feel something.

MargoLivebetter · 25/08/2024 17:24

Reporting in after my first 7 days. Massive appetite suppression, sensation of fullness after eating a small amount, zero food noise. Had a few side effects, coldness, bit headachey, uncomfortable fullness feeling but mostly fine.

Down 7lb!

Loving the absence of food noise. It is the biggest win for me so far. Had not realised quite how much room food took up in my head.

The threads are so inspiring. Love reading about so many positive experiences. Smile

trulybee · 25/08/2024 17:25

Took 4th injection of 2.5 on Friday. Definitely feel like I am ready to do up so am going to use bonus dose as a stepping stone. Main issue over the last week has been Gerd causing me a really sore throat. I had a couple of Nexiums and it has eased off but it was horrible. Made my ears feel full. It was so bad I thought I was going to have to come off mounjaro but fortunately it hasn't come to that.so this is my fourth week. Not weighed myself at all so as not to obsess and can feel I am lighter, clothes starting to fit better. Losing weight of my huge boobs - I hate them being so big. Tried on a shirt dress that I couldn't button up across the bust before. I can now with only a very slight gape at the buttons. Another couple of weeks and think I will be able to wear it. Yay!

Wingingit11 · 25/08/2024 17:44

I’m hoping my 5th dose has about 3.5 mg or so in it !

It will. You need to measure it with an insulin syringe so that you know exactly how much you're getting.

Can anyone point me to the right insulin syringes? I’m anxious not to buy the wrong ones!

Yes - I have them already

Wingingit11 · 25/08/2024 18:21

@MidLifeResurgence74 most chemists sell them

Can you not just use the pen to inject the bonus dose?

creepywoman · 25/08/2024 18:58

I’m just posting to say how happy I am that I decided to take MJ. I’ve been slim my entire life, until recent years when I started a horrific job and worked from home. I stopped walking as much and would stress-eat and the weight piled on.

For about 18 months my attempts at weight loss plateaued and I ended up being obese at 74kg. It feels good losing 6kg, I’m already starting to feel more like myself again. You can’t really put a price on that feeling

Wingingit11 · 25/08/2024 19:10

@Princessandthepie you can if you can force it by twisting hard but I want to know how much does there is so the insulin needle seems more effective

Wingingit11 · 25/08/2024 19:11

@creepywoman I completely agree: now I am a few weeks in I feel like I can start to see/feel differences in my body that is just so amazing after struggling for years

trulybee · 25/08/2024 19:29

I just though I'd mention that food noise was only quietened for about 24 hours after my fourth injection. Food noise back with a vengeance until my next injection on Friday. Craving wine for the first time since I started 1st August. I think I must be ready to step up as now resisting is will power alone.
