I would go up to 5mg. Your main 'side effects' were caused by your over eating a couple of times and not from the drug itself. Hopefully you are eating more 'cautiously' and slowly now so you won't have those.

Nausea and diarrhoea when you haven't eaten anything is a side effect of the drug. It's different to nausea and diarrhoea caused by eating too much or eating high fat foods or drinking too much alcohol. If you don't repeat that behaviour then you are less likely to be unwell again.

It isn't so much that I am concerned about the side effects I have had so far. As you say they are restricted to when I have overeaten.

I am losing without side effects so should I continue as I am? Is there a benefit to keeping the dose low? Is there a reason to increase if it is working.

I think I am persuaded to move up on the basis that this isn't a clinical dose and probably won't continue working as it has been.

Choux · 30/08/2024 12:39

@WorriedRelative 3.9kg in 26 days isn't a massive loss given people often lose a lot in week 1 of a diet. I am not a super responder to Mounjaro at all and I lost a similar amount on pen 1.

There are a few people who have lost all their weight on 2.5mg as it works so well for them. But not many. If you get the 5mg pen you have the option of sticking to 2.5mg or going up to 5mg.

That's a good point about the first week.

I think I will go up.

MissFancyDay thanks for the advice, I was trying to avoid taking another bloody tablet but I might have to.

Just wanted to share a little victory beside the scales

Last night I walked the dog for the first time in a while (my partner usually takes him whilst I walk with our clingy toddler 😂)

I felt much better walking, more light on my feet and my watch confirmed it for me later when it said I had a change in cardio fitness which was a quicker recovery time. I can’t believe the difference already, I’ve lost around 15lbs, can’t imagine how I’m going to feel when I shift the next four-ish stone.

keep going everyone. Even when the scales aren’t going down as fast as we’d like we are reaping the rewards in other ways!

Be interesting if the weeing starts again tonight now I've jabbed again

Wake every 1/2hrs the first 3/4 nights after jabbing

Then 4/7 ok

OMG me too! I wee a lot anyway because I am on some blood pressure medication but the night or two after I've jabbed is awful! I'm going every 30 mins or so!

DinnaeFashYersel · 30/08/2024 14:02

Nearly finished my first week on 5mg and am feeling much happier.

After only loosing a total of 5lbs on 4 weeks of 2.5mg I have now lost 3lbs already this week.

Its not visibly noticeable yet but my bras are fitting better. So first little victory.

I am still finding I really am not experiencing any bad side effects. Just a little bit burpy for 24 hours after an injection. Oh and up weeing all through the night.

Appetite suppression is well underway and diet is now consisting most of protein and salad. Trying a little bit of complex carbs but struggling to eat much of them.

That sounds really positive @DinnaeFashYersel I can't wait to get on 5mg (10 days for me) because I'm currently week 3 of 2.5mg and not going to lose anything by the looks of it.

Blondeshavemorefun · 30/08/2024 14:28

@CornishGem1975 it's awful. Drives me nuts !!

I'd like some input from those further on their journey on whether to move up for my next pen please.

I'm at the end of my first month, I started on 5th Aug. Bonus jab is due on Monday so I want to get my order in ASAP but I can't make up my mind.

SW: 103kg
CW: 99.1kg

Loss 3.9kg in 26 days.

So far I haven't had dreadful side effects. Apart from a few days when I over ate it has been fine, a bit of wind, I have used a fibre supplement to avoid constipation but generally have felt fine. I am eating smaller portions and my appetite is definitely smaller. I'm not actively calorie counting or low carbing just allowing the reduced appetite to reduce my intake.

On two occasions I ate too much I had fairly unpleasant heartburn and felt sick. Another occasion no heartburn but I felt horribly full the next day and couldn't face eating until evening and felt nauseous and headachy.

So do I stick with 2.5mg or go up to 5.0mg?

If it carries on like this then I would be happy on 2.5 but I am worried it will start to wear off and I'll regret it and wish I had gone to 5.0.

The official advice seems to be only to stay on 2.5 for one month and then move up, whereas you can stay on the other doses longer term.

It feels like staying on the lowest effective dose should be best but am I missing something?

Hey, I moved up to 5mg after the 4 weeks as week three I had all but lost any suppression and only maintained in week three. Week four I took 2.5mg and bonus dose and I’ve just jagged my first 5mg injection today.

I’d prob move up tbh.

Week one I lost 4 pounds
Week two I lost 4 pounds
Week 3 I lost nothing but didn’t gain either
Week 4 I’ve lost 2 pounds

So hoping for a decent loss this week now I’m officially at 5mg.

Good luck with whatever you decide xxx

Well done!!! I’m on first week of 5mg too and hoping for a decent loss xxx

CornishGem1975 · 30/08/2024 14:52

I've had all the suppression on 2.5mg, eating around 1000 calories a day and still not losing!

WitchDancer · 30/08/2024 16:00

I'm on week 4 and am doing my bonus dose next week. The week after I'll be on 5mg as I'm really feeling hungry at the moment. 2.5mg was good as a starter but I really need to up my dose now

lookathatbookcase · 30/08/2024 16:05

Might actually get a takeaway tonight - Turkish, so I can get lamb shish / other grilled main, hummus / taramasalata, big salads, stuff that will keep for leftovers over the weekend. Possibly delusional but i'd like a nice (small) meal before I go up to 5mg on Sunday.

AuntieDote · 30/08/2024 16:27

I’m a bit pissed off with oushk after initially being impressed. I emailed yesterday to ask if I could change my mind and go for 5mg. They said no as they needed 24 hours notice, which I replied that’s fine as I’d ordered it for Tuesday coming. They checked and said no it’s being delivered Friday.

I triple checked I’d ordered it for the Tuesday as we are away this week. I know I did. I remember being concerned as once it got to order confirmation it didn’t confirm the date but I know what I selected and I know I scrolled back to check several times. I’ve managed to rearrange the delivery with Royal Mail but it’s not the point - it will be warm by then. I’ve replied stating this and that I’m really disappointed and had no response.

AuntieDote · 30/08/2024 16:54

Actually, ignore the above about oushk - they’ve literally just phoned me and have sorted it out already, back to thinking they’re an amazing service and if they do in fact sort it how they said they’re going to when I get back, I’ll probably stick with them for good on the strength of it!

Choux · 30/08/2024 16:56

That's very poor service @AuntieDote. If their unique selling point to differentiate themselves from ZAVA, Bolt, MedExpress etc by giving you the ability to select a delivery day, they need to provide that.

Thinking you are going to get a specific day for delivery and then just receiving it asap is worse than not having a choice in the first place.

That's good but I am still a little cynical that, as their customer numbers ramp up, the errors will creep in with no phone call apologies and getting it sorted in the hour.

Blondeshavemorefun · 30/08/2024 17:01

@MrsHerbs79 so you did bonus and 4th on same day ?

Blondeshavemorefun · 30/08/2024 17:01

@DinnaeFashYersel great you had a better loss on 5mg

Well there’s that! They were quite insistent that I’d selected today - I know I didn’t but I did manage to give them my incorrect mobile number originally so that kind of weakened my insistence!

However they’re willing to swap me to 5mg when they rectify it now so I’m happy with that, and I hadn’t realised they are pretty local to me so I should be able to do collection going forward.

Once I’ve got my new pen in my hand I’ll know whether to trust them going forward!!

On another note Voy are emailing me/ texting me now offering me 44% off! I’m not sure if that’s a sale for everyone or it’s their way to lure leavers back. It did make me wonder what would be stopping people, assuming they could afford it (I certainly can’t!) from ordering multiple pens from multiple suppliers to go above the approved maximum dose/ frequency - it is quite scary to think that might be happening.

creepywoman · 30/08/2024 17:12

I’m so impressed with medexpress. I placed my 5mg order today, they approved the prescription the same day and dispatched it and it’s arriving tomorrow! I was expecting a slight delay.

MrsHerbs79 · 30/08/2024 17:59

Blondeshavemorefun · 30/08/2024 17:01

@MrsHerbs79 so you did bonus and 4th on same day ?

Hi, yes a took my fourth dose of 2.5mg and bonus dose on same day as I wasn’t feeling any suppression from week three dose. This week deffo been better and took first 5mg dose this morning xxx

The fact it’s a prescription and will show up on your medical records xxx
