And any of you who are worrying about your weight staying static for a week - that's normal, and it happens to everyone.

After my initial big loss, my weight was static for nine days.

Then it started to go down again. The human body works like that.

And another thing - you must eat. Don't starve yourself. It's very bad for you and it's not realistic or sustainable.

NippyCrab · 30/08/2024 09:39

Good morning all Friday weigh in warriors. I'm another 2.5lbs down today 🥳 I'm going to measure later too and do my monthly pics.

SW- 14 st 6.8lbs (Jan 24 non MJ)
CW - 13 st 2.8lbs
GW - 10 st 7lbs

Total loss - 1st 4lbs and 9lbs of that is being on MJ from 5th August.

I feel great, I feel great both physically and mentally for the first time in years! I have my bonus dose left from my Voy pen and another 2.5mg pen from Oushk in the fridge. Dose 5 is due tomorrow.
@4pink1blue is that an app you've been using for updates? Which one is it? I like the look of it.
@NeedSomeAnswersPlease you're already doing fantastically well. The initial loss is a significant one, you don't want to lose too quickly either because then you will have loose skin and maybe look haggard. Take your time and if you feel hungry just eat, don't feel miserable. You will get into the swing of things, it's a big change going from one extreme to another with eating. I had carb and sugar withdrawals 2 weeks before I started MJ, I'm glad a did it that way because of the initial side effects i had on my first weeks of jabbing. You are super hard on yourself, could you stop calorie counting and just start to make smaller meals? Change small things and definitely make sure you're drinking enough water, if you like milk have a glass for hydration. I only buy full fat yoghurt and milk, that fills you up. How can we help you not feel despondent? Xx

weaseleyes · 30/08/2024 09:44

Congrats to the stone losers!

My pound which appeared out of nowhere yesterday obligingly disappeared today for my weigh-in and took another one with it! So I'm three pounds down this week, which is fab. I expect the third one is as meaningless as the extra one yesterday, but I'll take the boost. My NSV was having non-puffy ankles last night for the first time for ages, which I was really thrilled about as it made me feel I was genuinely getting a health benefit.

I do think it's quite hard not to panic in the face of feeling hungry, as it's so lovely not being enslaved to it, and the return of it - even fleetingly - is a bit scary. But @AnnieMcFanny is quite right - we don't have to act on it and realising this is really helpful. I think for me that when I was feeling stressed and overwhelmed - which is more frequent than I would like - feeling hungry and then eating something made me feel I was solving a problem, and that was more soothing than the food - even though I was of course just creating more problems. I am now trying to tell myself that for someone weighing what I do, feeling hungry one day is never going to be a medical emergency and I can ride it out.

NeedSomeAnswersPlease · 30/08/2024 09:46

Thanks all

Think this morning I was just panicked as I woke up SO hungry - but that's subsided now I've had a coffee, a big water and a protein shake.

Now I'm home and in a solid routine until Christmas, I'm going to work on nutrition e.g., no protein shakes but instead using Greek yoghurt etc in the morning to get my protein in. I started taking MJ in a very hectic period of my life which probably hasn't helped!

All the LOLZ, as they say.
I'll remember that - "feeling hungry is never going to be a medical emergency"

🤣🤣

4pink1blue · 30/08/2024 09:53

@NippyCrab it's just nutricheck which I use for calorie counting x

creepywoman · 30/08/2024 09:54

@TinaTotal I think you’ll be alright, they might just want to have a brief chat to better understand how you have responded to MJ as it’s a relatively new medication for weight loss. Out of interest, how much did you lose?

Blondeshavemorefun · 30/08/2024 10:13

Measured self - only been 2w and 3rd dose eventually today lol

But

Lost 4cm on hips and thigh and 2cm off waist

owlyboo · 30/08/2024 10:18

Been on it 1 week and 2 days. Just weighed and lost 2kg. Pleased with that!

thisiswheretheseagullfliesaway · 30/08/2024 10:25

Just been approved this morning. I'm 5ft 1 and 14 stone 9. I've never been over weight until peri menopause hit me like a train. I need surgery and can't have it as my BMI is way too high. Hoping to feel more like me again

WorriedRelative · 30/08/2024 10:27

I'd like some input from those further on their journey on whether to move up for my next pen please.

I'm at the end of my first month, I started on 5th Aug. Bonus jab is due on Monday so I want to get my order in ASAP but I can't make up my mind.

SW: 103kg
CW: 99.1kg

Loss 3.9kg in 26 days.

So far I haven't had dreadful side effects. Apart from a few days when I over ate it has been fine, a bit of wind, I have used a fibre supplement to avoid constipation but generally have felt fine. I am eating smaller portions and my appetite is definitely smaller. I'm not actively calorie counting or low carbing just allowing the reduced appetite to reduce my intake.

On two occasions I ate too much I had fairly unpleasant heartburn and felt sick. Another occasion no heartburn but I felt horribly full the next day and couldn't face eating until evening and felt nauseous and headachy.

So do I stick with 2.5mg or go up to 5.0mg?

If it carries on like this then I would be happy on 2.5 but I am worried it will start to wear off and I'll regret it and wish I had gone to 5.0.

The official advice seems to be only to stay on 2.5 for one month and then move up, whereas you can stay on the other doses longer term.

It feels like staying on the lowest effective dose should be best but am I missing something?

Blondeshavemorefun · 30/08/2024 10:28

2.5 is to get your body used to it

Should go up to 5

My 5 has just been approved and will be here Monday

Arraminta · 30/08/2024 10:30

I'm happy to report that I've lost 2lbs in my 2nd week, so that's 7lbs in my first 2 weeks which is just under 25% of how much I want to lose overall.

mm81736 · 30/08/2024 10:37

TinaTotal · 30/08/2024 07:40

@WitchDancer I ordered my 5mg pen from MedExpress, had to fill out the questionnaire again and then they put a hold on my order and emailed me saying I had lost too much weight and they wanted to review me. Arghhh. It's weight loss medication. They still haven't made my prescription and my jab is due on Monday. So irritated.

How much have you lost @TinaTotal ?

MidLifeResurgence74 · 30/08/2024 10:38

@WorriedRelative I’m in exactly the same place/timing. 2.5mg has worked well for me but I’ve been plagued by side effects. I’ve ordered 5 but will probably titrate - so do a half way house of 3.75 rather than making the jump immediately.

TinaTotal · 30/08/2024 10:42

@mm81736 @creepywoman
I've only lost 11lbs! 7 in the first week then 1 in week 2, then 3 last week!!
I don't think it's excessive. I've answered all their questions so hopefully it'll be prescribed today and delivered Monday or Tuesday. 🤞🤞

NeedSomeAnswersPlease · 30/08/2024 10:48

@Blondeshavemorefun I definitely struggle with breakfast, used to be I'd bring Greek yoghurt, chia seeds, and fruit but fell off that when starting MJ because the thought makes me sick. I have to eat at work so that doesn't help matters either!

Pinkjenny · 30/08/2024 11:18

I'm due to weigh in for the first time tomorrow morning and take my second jab, but I'm getting a bit worried that the scales are going to massively reflect the fact that I've barely been to the toilet in a week. I've tried everything, gallons of water, a fibre supplement, broccoli, chia seeds, apples. No joy.

I have dulcolax which I'll have to take tonight as a last resort if nothing happens today.

Well done on all these amazing weight losses!!

I'd go up to the 5mg pen.

You then have the option of using 2.5mg (0.3ml) from it if the side-effects from 5mg get to you.

For nausea, try Equate motion sickness tablets (dimenhydrinate 50mg) which you can get online easily. They're on Ebay and other sites. Only about £14 for 100.

NippyCrab · 30/08/2024 11:46

@NeedSomeAnswersPlease I made my own granola from a Tom Kerridge recipe, I just omited maple syrup and used more local honey. I changed some of the seeds and nuts. I have 50g with Face 5% and whatever berries I fancy and I sometimes add a banana. It doesn't make me feel nauseous about eating it and I'm full for a long time, I don't get hungry as such as it's a different feeling now and I eat again about 1 ish. If I eat later than that I don't want my dinner. I normally have breakfast between 6 and 7am. Xx

I would go up to 5mg. Your main 'side effects' were caused by your over eating a couple of times and not from the drug itself. Hopefully you are eating more 'cautiously' and slowly now so you won't have those.

Nausea and diarrhoea when you haven't eaten anything is a side effect of the drug. It's different to nausea and diarrhoea caused by eating too much or eating high fat foods or drinking too much alcohol. If you don't repeat that behaviour then you are less likely to be unwell again.

I have just had exactly the same problem, I don't think that I went apart from a couple of pebbles for a week.

I tried Fybogel and Dulcoese. I find Dulcolax gives me terrible tummy ache. It worked and the scales moved down, so good luck.

Blondeshavemorefun · 30/08/2024 12:21

Be interesting if the weeing starts again tonight now I've jabbed again

Wake every 1/2hrs the first 3/4 nights after jabbing

Then 4/7 ok
