For anyone wanting a syringe with needle for the 5th dose.
Where you do you get them from? I am considering Amazon or buying from a pharmacy online.
But could I just go into the local pharmacy and ask?
I think there is a nationwide scheme where you can get a few for free.
I wouldn't want them to think I am taking illegal drugs though!
Happy to pay for them, my thinking is a local pharmacy might be cheaper as wouldn't have to pay postage.
Thanks.

Just checking in here so I get notifications. Posted in the other thread that I’ll be changing supplier as I just got notification that my 4 weekly subscription due on Friday and they want to charge £215 for next pen. Don’t even think that’s an increase in dose xxx

Cha-ching.
Would love to know what the cost price of these drugs are for the pharmacies.

@NeedSomeAnswersPlease

When you do the bonus dose do you just inject with the same needle or twist it as it's in your skin?

This month I withdrew the needle after injecting dose 4. Wound it on and then did the bonus dose with the same needle.

This is because I wanted to go up to 5mg early.

Next month I intend to do the bonus dose a week later (with a new needle) so that I get 5 doses out of one pen.

This stuff is so expensive I don't want to not use the extra 20% in it.

You should use a new needle for every injection:

What are the risks involved in reusing needles?
Bacterial growth on the needle
Likelihood of experiencing pain when injecting
Risk of lipohypertrophy (lumpy skin) occurring
Risk of the very fine tip of the needle breaking off
What does a reused needle look like under the microscope
The naked eye cannot see the damage you are causing to your needle.
Parts of a damaged needle can fragment upon injection and lodge under the skin. This will be difficult to remove and will lead to pain and other complications.

This site has microscopic pictures of re-used needles:

sundaysunday2024 · 18/08/2024 12:25

@Addictedtobeauty I'd be interested to hear how much extra you get out with your experiment! I've read elsewhere that 0.6ml is a normal dose and someone extracted 0.8ml with a needle. This is why I'm not adding the bonus dose to my 4th injection - it could be more than a normal 5mg dose.

Zava sent me 2-3 extra needles with my order so I'm going to use these for the 'bonus' 5th dose but I won't know for sure how much there is.

Blondeshavemorefun · 18/08/2024 12:33

@DinnaeFashYersel thanks for new thread

Hi all. Think I got the last post on old thread

@weaseleyes @WorriedRelative glad you have wee issues

It's constant at night !!

Well done on huge loss @NeedSomeAnswersPlease

I'm day 3 of week 1 and I still do feel hungry at meal times so not sure it's working but am eating less

NeedSomeAnswersPlease · 18/08/2024 12:43

Thank you @Blondeshavemorefun

I think before I started I thought id lose a stone or so but it wouldn't really work for me, but wow!!! All I've had today is a coffee and a burger in a lettuce bun (saving myself for a little roast dinner tonight!) and I'm full, I've just said no to having some chocolate after my lunch

For now my plan will be to stay on 2.5 for as long as this works for me. I don't want to move up just because the guide says you should, if I'm getting good results on the lowest dose

doodles55 · 18/08/2024 12:49

Hello to you all, I injected my 1st dose this morning @11:45…
no noticeable change in anything for me
I ate fresh fruit & Nat yoghurt afterwards for breakfast… no sense of fullness, I’m so disappointed…
can I ask how do you dispose of the sharps container?
thank you for reading and sharing

CornishGem1975 · 18/08/2024 12:52

@doodles55 You're expecting way too much too soon.

HamAlive · 18/08/2024 11:32

Pharmacy2U have been great. Very quick service, and sent me £30 off my second pen.

Voy aren't covering themselves in glory here.

I am on my first pen/first week from Pharmacy2U - at what point did they send you a voucher out of interest?!

NeedSomeAnswersPlease · 18/08/2024 13:02

CornishGem1975 · 18/08/2024 12:52

I would agree @doodles55

The first night I injected I think I recognised around bed time that I was feeling fuller than I would normally, but it wasn't overwhelming. It was the next day that I really felt it

Peak of it kicking in me for is about 30 hours after injecting.
2.5 is only a starter dose. For some people it has no effect until they move up.

re the sharps container.. I think you can arrange this through your local council for free. You will probably need to create an online account on your council's website (if you don't have one already) and request through that.

HamAlive · 18/08/2024 13:03

@doodles55 it won't work that quickly. It takes a day or two to feel the full effect for me, and each week I have felt differently. 1st week I had no appetite, 2nd week I had an appetite but not for junk and I couldn't eat huge meals, didn't want snacks between meals. This week has only been a few days and I thought it wasn't working but then had a fatty meal yesterday and have felt crap since! Give it time.

I’ll keep you posted.

If you wanted to double up on the last dose and click the pen around to 1, you will get 0.6ml of whatever is left, so an extra 2.5mg dose. It won’t be more but there might be a smidge left unused in the pen. This smidge is my area of interest!

Blondeshavemorefun · 18/08/2024 13:15

I don't get this bonus dose

If they give extra liquid then why isn't is a 5w pen

Or that they give less liquid and be 4 doses with no extra

Why do they give extra liquid

Blondeshavemorefun · 18/08/2024 13:17

@doodles55 I feel the same. I still feel hunger but am eating less

Feel nauseas and very very tired and wee lots

Day 3 for me

Hoping by 2nd week so 4 days time things will be diff

lookathatbookcase · 18/08/2024 13:18

Day 15 (?). I've had a few meals out now, and a few more to come in the coming weeks, and have managed better than I thought. Ordering food to share is great, inevitably, my dining companions have taken the lion's share leaving me with the small amount I want. Also, protein + veg, and even then, it's always fine to leave food you can't finish. And it's been fine to have a little dessert / cheese, and fine to only have a bite of it (to be clear, because that was all I wanted). We went to a place that's famous for ice-cream yesterday and I ordered two flavours which I really wanted to try, and left about 60% of what came and I felt ok with that. I don't think anyone noticed or cared that I was eating far less, and I was very happy that I got to try the foods which looked good.

lookathatbookcase · 18/08/2024 13:18

@Blondeshavemorefun I think the extra liquid is for when you prime the pen.

TheShellBeach · 18/08/2024 13:19

CornishGem1975 · 18/08/2024 11:27

I want to know this too - can I do bonus dose at the same time as the 4th jab?

I did.

But I bought insulin syringes, for accuracy.

I had the 4th dose as normal, then extracted 0.3ml of the remainder. That gave me a total of 3.75mg from the 2.5mg pen.

I've never tried twisting the pen as I like to know exactly how much I'm injecting.

One week later I extracted the remainder.

NeedSomeAnswersPlease · 18/08/2024 13:20

lookathatbookcase · 18/08/2024 13:18

@Blondeshavemorefun I think the extra liquid is for when you prime the pen.

Yeah the point is so that you prime each time without losing a dose

TheShellBeach · 18/08/2024 13:21

If you buy insulin syringes and needles, you'll find that the needle is longer than the needles provided with the pens.

You just inject them at an oblique angle, to get to the subcutaneous region.

DinnaeFashYersel · 18/08/2024 13:25

@CornishGem1975

When you do the hard twist, do you get it to go back to showing 1 in the window

Yes

OP posts:
DinnaeFashYersel · 18/08/2024 13:29

@Choux

You should use a new needle for every injection

Sure but there was literally 30 seconds between injections so am ok with that.

It was inject, twist, inject.

If I was injecting at a different time or different day as I shall next month I will use a new needle.

I get what you mean but I have a big belly so think I will be OK :)
