I’m travelling a fair bit for work and just been given a job that means picking up
5mg will be delayed by a couple of weeks. Would you eke out 2.5, maybe reducing to 2mg or stick to 2.5 and leave a couple of days between each Injections? Or just rely on will power for 2 weeks? I’m not sure what to do! Argh!

If you go two weeks between injections the official advice is to remain on 2.5

sundaysunday2024 · 24/08/2024 07:08

@creepywoman I have a big birthday in July 2025 so my aim is to be slim again for that 😄

4th injection yesterday. I did my 4th 2.5mg as usual. Then did the hard twist and attempted to do a half dose to get 3.75 bridging in total but am not entirely sure I did it right so can't say for sure how much I've had. I've discovered that you can't count the clicks after doing the hard twist.

Weight loss has been disappointing for me this first month (-4lb in total) so I've ordered 5mg for next month. Am with Zava, was approved the day after reordering and it should be delivered before the bank hol.

sundaysunday2024 · 24/08/2024 07:31

@DinnaeFashYersel Can I ask what your starting weight was? (Still feels rude asking someone their weight even on a weight loss thread! 😂)

I'm thinking that my slower weight loss is due to having a relatively lower starting weight, 13st 7

Well done everyone on their losses and NSVs.

I had jab 2 yesterday, and the suppression doesn’t feel quite as strong as the first week, but is still limiting how much I eat. Snacking and grazing has totally stopped; which is great.

DP & children fancied takeaway tonight. I’d have happily skipped it while they ate, but if I’d not joined in, then they wouldn’t have got one and would have been disappointed. I ordered less than usual, dished up only a small bit of what I’d ordered, and still ended up binning most of it. It wasn’t enjoyable and I felt unpleasantly full, verging on nauseous, pretty much straight away. I’ll have to work on some excuses not to join in next time (I’ve not told them about the MJ).

Hopefully that bit of rubbish won’t sabotage my efforts too much.

My DH knows but the kids don't, so I just said I'm trying to be healthier and fried or carby food doesn't agree with me and I always end up having a really bad stomach ache which is actually true 80% of the time so it's not worth it. That covers most takeaways.

When my dad comes round for dinner and I'm not drinking wine, he has found it odd but I've just said I can't cope with a hangover and the kids being off so it's just easier not to drink and I've been wanting to knock it on the head for a while now anyway.

I'm not lying as these are pretty much true statements and my kids and dad believe it.

Blondeshavemorefun · 24/08/2024 08:26

Same mj sw as me @DinnaeFashYersel

Awful night again weeing every 2hrs

I just don't get why after jabbing the first maybe 3 nights I wake up and wee every 2hrs

Happened with jab 1&2

Shattered again which doesn't help with the over all tiredness anyway

The scales finally start with a 15!

I'm 15st 13lb now.

I've lost 3lb this week.

I was 20st 2lb in January, so I've lost 4st 3lb.

Fantastic news! I enjoy reading about the successes..only started yesterday.

Azuresky68 · 24/08/2024 08:35

Blondeshavemorefun · 23/08/2024 07:56

OMFG. I've lost 9lbs !!! Week 1

I got on and off scales many times thinking much be wrong

I was 17.4 and bmi 37.9 (shameful I know but lost just over a stone (16.3) doing good eating over last 3/ 4mths) but was taking forever but losing a stone my bmi went down by 2 to 35.6

So mj stats

SW 16.3 - bmi 35.6
CW 15.8 9lbs loss bmi 34.1
GW 11. To make bmi 24.1

Have just done my 2nd jab of 2.5. I hope to hell I don't get the headaches and nausea back as first few days last week was awful - still really tired

Well done and all the best. Just did my first jab yesterday....not knowing what to expect!

FlappingMadly · 24/08/2024 08:36

Hey! I’m reading a lot of ‘only’ this morning. Stop it! 5lb of real weight loss in 4 weeks of just 2.5 is fantastic.

artyarty · 22/08/2024 20:41

Newbie here 🙋🏻‍♀️ day one, week one done! Had a few side effects of feeling a bit nauseous today but I'm hoping that will feel a bit better tomorrow. Still can't quite believe I've actually started it after thinking about it for so long. Hoping I've made the right choice for my health but the positive comments on here are big reassurance!

All the best! Did my first jab yesterday. Was so scared of doing it wrong. I didn't feel anything so thought I hadn't managed to do it right. Hoping I did and it's not just a placebo effect that I don't feel like breakfast!

AuntieDote · 24/08/2024 08:46

We’re away - starting our holiday with a couple of days staying with relatives.

Last few days I’ve had some bread each day - just due to logistics, eating whilst travelling so sandwiches were easier, etc. I’ve not really been eating bread since I started this, and oh my god the effect it’s had. My stomach is like a beach ball and I’m so uncomfortable and really constipated. Definitely something I need to avoid I think!

Everyone else was drinking last night and I felt a bit of a misery not joining in but I just didn’t fancy it at all. I’ve not had a drink since I started - to be fair I don’t often drink anyway but I normally would for things like last night’s get together with family. I think if my stomach wasn’t already feeling so sore I might have done.

Off on holiday proper today. Looking forward to it. I do really want to loosen up a bit and enjoy a bit more, maybe get an ice cream one day or share some fish and chips. But something about it makes me feel panicky too - I can’t weigh myself and am just so anxious about undoing any progress I’ve made. I don’t think I’ve ever been this fussed about sticking to anything before - holidays would absolutely be a time to eat/ drink whatever I wanted and worry about it later. I just have this feeling of this HAS to be the last time I’m in this situation - with mounjaro I’m finally feeling like I might have a realistic chance of getting back to a healthy weight and I just don’t want to mess that up. But I need to find a balance - I’m already aware that it’s taking over my life a bit and I’m boring DH rigid going on about it. Hopefully I can ease up a bit this week!

@Aunty Dote thanks for your help! Going to order some

Azuresky68 · 24/08/2024 08:51

@Willowy1982 did mine yesterday (Friday) all the best to you x

Willowy1982 · 24/08/2024 08:51

Yes, what is it with the weeing all night?! I'm actually on a medication which has a side effect of bladder suppression which has been amazing at night, but since jab one it's like that side effect has worn off and I'm back to weeing all night!!

FlappingMadly · 24/08/2024 08:53

Enjoy your time on holiday @AuntieDote without guilt .
Enjoy your food, eat mindfully and stop when you’re full. You’ve got this.

Azuresky68 · 24/08/2024 08:54

@Willowy1982 yes petrified about doing injecrion wrong. Did mine yesterday and still can't believe I did it right!

Hey! I’m reading a lot of ‘only’ this morning. Stop it! 5lb of real weight loss in 4 weeks of just 2.5 is fantastic.

Exactly!

I think some people have hyped up how quickly the weight will / should come off and are setting themselves up for disappointment when:
1 they don't immediately feel zero hunger after the first injection
2 they don't lose 7-10lbs in week 1 and
3 they are 'only' losing an average of 2lbs a week.

Everyone is different in terms of how and how quickly they react to the drug. For everyone losing 10lbs in week 1 there's someone losing nothing and there's a whole range of losses in between. Once you start the drug you get evidence of how it's working for you.

If you have lost 10lbs you might be a super responder with strong suppression and you need to start really focusing on how to ensure you eat enough nutrients and ensure you lose fat and not muscle. Extreme weight loss can cause your hair to thin and other issues so it's not the goal although week 1 losses are usually larger than subsequent weeks.

If you haven't lost anything or very little you need to honestly assess if you are eating too much, if you are constipated or have eaten a lot of salt which would cause water retention. It could be that you have massively overhauled your lifestyle and been going to the gym so have built muscle which slows down the scales showing a loss but does mean you will be losing inches.

It can take a while to get to the right dose for you and get into the right routine and understand what is happening to your body on Mounjaro. If you keep going you will get to your goal!

ChunkyMunky · 24/08/2024 08:57

Well I can report back that last night’s small takeaway was definitely NOT worth it. Along with feeling full and nauseous while eating (and managing only a small amount) I’ve had cramps, diahorrea, and sulphur burps since. My body is definitely rejecting it. Also had a very strange and stressful dream, but that may be unrelated.

This is definitely going to be the hardest thing for me; I don’t mind not having, I don’t mind not joining in, but I feel guilty about spoiling other people’s fun.

On the plus side, my collagen has arrived, so I’m starting on capsules to try and support my skin.

Choux · 24/08/2024 08:59

Enjoy your time on holiday @AuntieDote without guilt .
Enjoy your food, eat mindfully and stop when you’re full. You’ve got this.

Eat the fish and chips - your portion will likely be much smaller than before. Eat more of the fish and less of the batter and chips to make it lower calorie.

Go for a walk along the beach or a swim and then have an ice cream.

Enjoy your holiday @AuntieDote

Choux · 24/08/2024 09:02

@ChunkyMunky what kind of takeaway was it? Perhaps you needed to swap one of your usual dishes for something with less fat and carbs. Eg if it was Indian swap a couple of dishes for tandoori chicken and dhal which are better for you.

MidLifeResurgence74 · 24/08/2024 09:06

16 days since I took the first dose and I’ve lost a stone. That’s not healthy. I ate at 3.30pm yesterday (two salmon fillets and some lettuce) and from 6.30pm until I finally got to sleep at 10pm I was bloated, sore, burping constantly and felt like I’d eaten a three course meal. I’m eating so clean and yet I still feel grim. Lots of water. I don’t understand what more I can do bar let these side effects pass.

Seems a few of us do. It's so weird and annoying and bloody tiring

Daytime I can not wee for 5/6hrs. Night time every 1-2 all night 😴😴

@Azuresky68 thank you. And good luck. It's weird and scary starting but good you have

I seem to get nausea headaches and very tired on mj

thesnailandthewhale · 24/08/2024 09:18

Can I join you all please, I ordered on Tuesday and have had the email this morning to say my prescription has been approved and will be dispatched within one working day, I'm assuming it will be dispatched on Tuesday so here on Wednesday? (Not sure if online chemists work bank holidays?)

Very excited! I am wanting to lose just over 2 stone, I'm hoping to be there by the end of the year?

Pinkjenny · 24/08/2024 09:23

Joining this thread now, as I've taken my first injection. I'm absolutely petrified. But honestly, I'm scared that this isn't the answer I'm going to want, I'm going to just try and take it day by day. I have struggled with my weight my entire adult life, and I just couldn't face another slimming world/online coach episode that never ends in me losing any weight or getting control of my issues around food.

What's the etiquette, do I share my starting weight?
