To all of you seasoned users, how do you cope on holiday?

My appetite has been really curbed but travelling to the Dutch Grand Prix next week. All the food is fried shit, I think the best I'll be able to get is a cheese toastie. I'm going to take it slow and listen to my body but I'm really worried that 3 days of awful food will do me in!!

Lastchancefatty · 14/08/2024 18:51

I have been a fairly slow user I suppose. Never more than 2lb apart from the first two weeks. I have zero side effects also. It means people don't realise I'm on it which is good for me. I am losing way more than if I wasn't on it and the constant battle with food isn't there so all good.

ItsAlrightDarling · 14/08/2024 19:04

I’m not a particularly fast loser but to be honest I’m ok with that. Partly because if I lost too fast I know everyone would be speculating that I was using weight loss injections! Also I want to avoid loose skin as much as possible. I realise I’m lucky in that I can continue longer term without it being a financial struggle so I’m in no real rush.

CatTraveler · 14/08/2024 19:19

struggless · 14/08/2024 12:49

Hi all, was looking for some advice. I injected myself in my stomach today, but a fair amount of the medicine was on my skin.

This hasn’t happened to me before…so I’m worried I haven’t had the full dose this time.

Has this happened to anyone else? Were you okay that week?

I’m not sure how this happened as the needle was definitely in my skin, I do find holding the end of the pen down to administer the dose whilst keeping it in place a bit finicky

I have had this twice (into my thigh) the first time I forgot to count to 5/10 at the end and the second time it almost popped out. I now use both hands to inject with one holding it in place and the other depressing the plunger.

Both times I stil had supression and still lost so please dont worry - it wont have been as much liquid as you think.

Ifyounevergiveup · 14/08/2024 19:42

@MassiveSaladDodger @Lastchancefatty ooh weird, I just posted on the slow losers thread saying that’s my theory! When I was considering Mj I read this from thread 1 all the way through (took over a week 😆) and I thought I saw a clear pattern of fast losers having stronger side effects and slow losers not so much. I definitely believe this is a Thing.

30not13 · 14/08/2024 19:48

@Chucklesisters I think I'm a medium responder and I too read some posts and think wtf! Also that some people starting weight is my goal weight 😖 but all we can do is make our own journey. Although if dp says one more time that he can now fit in his trousers just because for the last 5mth he has eaten one less packet of crisps a day, I think I might have to do time. It does seem so unfair that some people seem to just drop it doesn't it.

Ha, I hear you about the oh!!! But mine is 6 weeks ahead of me on mj & has lost 27lb.
I am only in week 2, but so far only lost 3.25lb (which I’m absolutely fine with, esp as no side effects so far) but watching him do a wardrobe try on & getting into lots of old stuff, & feeling much fitter whilst being smug about it is a bit “argh”.

Don’t get me wrong I’m chuffed for him but I suspect I am going to be a slower loser!

Ahah I'm now only 5lbs heavier than my husband who's begun complaining about his weight (a size 32 trouser so basically nothing to lose)

I've forbidden him from trying to diet until I'm at least 5lbs lighter than him because it'll make me. Sad when he inevitably cuts out one small snack and immediately loses 10lbs

Lol. A few months ago I told my husband I was catching up with him. He said he would start dieting! Luckily I have over taken him! I'm about 10lbs lighter than him now! Woop Woop! For once in our relationship I am lighter than him! Hope it stays that way!

Before I started my husband was 6 stone lighter than me 😂He's now only 4 stone lighter but I doubt I will catch up with him. He's one of the lucky people that can eat as much as he likes and never gain weight.

@Slimstar13 bloody love this!

QueenOfHiraeth · 14/08/2024 21:38

@Chucklesisters @Mounjaroattheend @Greyrockin Have you lost slowly consistently or have you ground to a halt? I listen to lots of TikTok lives and one US doctor I follow has a theory that in some people loss slows because the thyroid slows down so he suggests increasing calories by about 200 a week (so your calorie deficit is still there but smaller) for 3 weeks. He also suggests, for some people, a short break from MJ, I think it was 2 weeks, to allow the receptors to resensitise.

I don't know if this is of any interest but might be worth asking your supplier if they have support. I use Chequp and have found them very good

I'm probably a middling loser, I've lost just under 2 stone in 3 months but, as others have said, I've done it without starving myself and without side-effects so a middling path overall

Ifyounevergiveup · 14/08/2024 21:40

@QueenOfHiraeth slowly consistently for me, a pound a week right from the start. I used to pray for a whoosh but one never came…I just cling onto the fact that a pound a week is nearly two stone in a year which would be unheard of for me

GoSummer676 · 14/08/2024 21:42

@Greyrockin completly understand I’m the same ND mix & after a day all “peopled” out in the office I’m exhausted but a walk with the dog often helps me too. I’m very lucky to work mostly from home now. I do have a dissolvable under tongue VitB tab every morning & fizzy magnesium they help too

I'd be inclined to skip your jab that week. Fried food doesn't mix well with MJ.

Greyrockin · 14/08/2024 21:48

@QueenOfHiraeth I’m losing slowly and consistently so feel okay with that, but you’ve given some good tips if I do get a stall. Losing at a slower pace has benefits in terms of not getting too much loose skin, but I definitely need to start doing some weights to tone up. I’m lucky in that I can find the money to purchase the pens for as long as I need to, so I don’t have to stress too much about slow progress or maintenance.

I’ve lost consistently, other than a week of my birthday when I put on 4 pounds 😂

However….there has now been a study that suggests when you hit a plateau, coming off the diet and then back on it kick starts the weight loss again. A lot like you are saying above.

That definitely worked for me as I lost the 4lbs very quickly and more.
Im averaging 1 pound a week weight loss, I think my expectations on starting were unrealistic - I saw lots on the thread saying they had lost a stone in a month and that just didn’t happen for me.

Like PP have said though, at least it hasn’t been so drastic that people realise I’ve been on weight loss injections. Despite a 10 kg loss, it has been so gradual that only one person has asked if I’ve lost weight - and I’m now a BMI of just over 25!

Fromthesidelines · 14/08/2024 22:00

Interesting. Another slow loser here and also have little in the way of side effects. I'm on 7.5 now and can still eat (and drink occasionally, but not tried to find out what would happen if i had more than a couple of glasses of wine). Main thing is that I can still live my life, eat healthily and no one would think I was on the flab jabs. Losing on average just under a lb a week.
I would love to know whether the seeming correlation between no side effects and slow weight loss was linked to anything else. In my own case, I've never really been a binge eater nor had a particularly sweet tooth and wasn't prediabetic. The issue was consistently eating a bit more than I should and putting on a few pounds each year once I turned 40. So maybe the most dramatic effects might be for those with food addictions or insulin resistance, but also cause more side effects?
Who knows, but here for the long haul!

imnottoofussed · 14/08/2024 22:13

1lb a week is 52lb in a year which is nearly 4 stone in a year not 2 stone

SnacklessWonder · 14/08/2024 22:17

What do you do when you don't feel you're eating enough? I've only managed 700 calories today (1200 is my goal) but if I ate more I'd feel like I was forcing it in.

@Ifyounevergiveup and others, sorry to bring back last evening’s thread into the middle of the next day, but I’m also one of you. And it hurts. So much so that I had to unwatch this thread and mute the FB group because I’m being left well behind in the happy race so many of us here are running.

i’m in such a dark place with SH thoughts because of being highest performer in the slow loser club (untested by data of course). I’ve been on 12.5 and 15mg for the last two months and yet all I see on these threads are people losing 4-5 stone on very low dosages and celebrating maintenance time. People reaching their target weight in two months and posting pictures at 9 stone. People constantly asking here how they can count clicks on 2.5 and 5mg while I bemoan that 15mg is as high as they can go. I won’t quit MJ but I’ve had to stop reading these threads and groups because it bloody sucks to fail at something yet again.

I will always be proud of you lot, however. Keep celebrating.

Really sorry that you’re in a dark place. Just wanted to say I hear you, It’s really tough.

I have been feeling pretty frustrated myself lately but reading tonight’s threads has been helpful and it also reminded me of other things that might help.

I think there is a reasonable case to suggest that the slower weight comes off the more likely it is to stay off. I think I’ve been stuck on a set point for what seems like forever so I’m hoping that at least it means I’m less likely to bounce right back up.

My losses amount to about a pound over the last month, possibly actually over the last 6 weeks if I ignore the odd day thars an outlier. I was really fed up about that.

But now I’m thinking - well I’m still a stone and half less than i was 5 months ago, and I bet I’d have put on weight by now if I’d been going hungry on a normal diet and watching the scales flatline.

I don’t know how slow your slow losing is going but I think anything that’s not a gain is a win in this game, so sending solidarity
