Peri, not period 🤦‍♀️

KrankyKumquat · 13/08/2024 16:05

@mjdle
No tips but lots of sympathy. I'm 57 and now weigh what i did when i was 37. But I look like a fat and frumpy pensioner! I've lost nearly 3 stone and am 8lbs from a healthy BMI, but clothes have only gone from a comfortable size 20 to a tight size 16 so still can't buy new stuff. Just been out to try to find something that fits for a party on Saturday and came home empty handed. I'm living in tracky bottoms and old t shirts. I've got no arse, skinny arms and a jowl plus thunder thighs and a belly that looks like it needs a good iron.
Ah well, just hope another stone will transform me into a goddess 😂

KrankyKumquat · 13/08/2024 09:38

We're all different but i think I could eat gammon OK, it's reasonably lean isn't it. For some reason, potatoes however, in any form, really give me the ick now. Haven't had any in 3 months, even left some Jersey new potatoes a while back and I wouldn't thank you for a chip!

@KrankyKumquat I love a wee jersey potato, ayrshire potatoes too, I've got some left but couldn't eat them now.

Weird isn't it? Potatoes was one of the first things I couldn't face (with alcohol) and it hasn't changed since.

Smallsalt · 13/08/2024 15:08

Fake substitutes are not mounjaro though are they?

People are buying fake glp from dodgy suppliers, many of which contain insulin .

Sp yes, it is scare mongering or at least highly inaccurate, to report that Aand E is full of slim people who are made seriously ill by properly dosed Mounjaro.

A large portion of those will be fake drug, therefore, not mounjaro, and a lot of them will be people not following insttuctions and taking too much, over doses.

In my niece's case it was mounjaro that she bought - she just lied about her weight. I've seen the 5mg pens that were still in the fridge. My niece said she was 5.3 and 13stone. At the time she didn't need to provide photos.

NeedSomeAnswersPlease · 13/08/2024 16:21

@Greyrockin from where? Surely you've reported this to the authorities?

NippyCrab · 13/08/2024 16:28

My suppression is stronger with the second jab and I was floating about the supermarket at the veg bit looking for something green to entice me. It's not happening 😂
I left out mince to make a bolognese so I'm hoping when I'm cooking it I want it.

TheOverweightFortySomething · 13/08/2024 16:33

3wDavid · 13/08/2024 14:47

Yes! I think I called them at like 2 or 3 pm and they picked up after 30 sec on hold, I was mid-wee as completely did not expect such a swift response!! Before that I would always be on hold for 15-20 min until I inevitably gave up...maybe try them now-ish? Also, cheeky, I know, but maybe try a diff option (1,2,3)?

Tried all options and still on hold.
I give up 😂
Just wanted an update on my order as they contacted me yesterday asking for details.

Eyf · 13/08/2024 16:52

I don’t know how anyone is brave enough to inject a substance they bought from somewhere none legit!

My DP friend gets saxenda from his cousins friend. 🫣 I mean it could well be saxenda (he has had no negative affects and has lost weight along side lifestyle changes) but my god what a gamble!? I wouldn’t dare.

It was bad enough injecting the stuff I got from voy!! Did a ton of research to make sure they were actually a registered pharmacy, can't imagine just grabbing it and injecting it

toomanycushionshere · 13/08/2024 16:54

I know I’m being a complete PITA by asking this as I know that it’s been asked before, but I’m hoping you’ll let me off as I’m feeling so rough and I don’t have it in me to scroll through and find the info.

I’ve had some kind of flu / fever / stomach upset / cough for the last couple of days and have barely eaten. I was due my jab yesterday but couldn’t even get out of bed. How long can I put off the next jab before I have to start from scratch? I’m on week 3 of 5ml. It just seems like a bad idea to take it when I’m feeling so disgusting.

Thanks all.

MassiveSaladDodger · 13/08/2024 17:22

@toomanycushionshere I took three weeks off when I had a bad case of shingles, I was due to go up to 7.5 and wanted to make sure the antivirals worked which is why I didn’t risk injecting. I counted clicks to go back on 5mg, was fine so went up to 7.5 the following week and still fine. However I have never had any side effects on MJ at any dose, I didn’t get any appetite suppression either till 7.5 I’ve just gone up to 10 and so far no side effects and suppression only moderate so I’m not typical going my most of the posts on here.

This is just a howl and you can all safely ignore it, I just want to VENT about not losing any more weight, only having lost eight pounds in eight weeks and being sooo much more hungry at 5mg than I was on 2.5mg. I know all the research says a lot of people don’t get much effect until they hit 7.5mg, but it’s so expensive to get there in the first place and I just want to drum my heels with sheer frustration. I remember a similar rant from (I think) @Buffypaws once and I really know how they felt, it’s lovely reading everybody’s success stories but when it’s not you it just makes you want to SCREAM 😱

TheShellBeach · 13/08/2024 18:56

Well I'm on 7.5mg now, and since June 28th I've lost 23lb.

I seemed to get stuck for ages at 16st 10lb but have dropped to 16st 3lb now.

Looking forward to being in size 18 clothes.

@TheShellBeach did you find that you didn’t lose much until you got to 7.5? If I thought I’d ever get to 23lb I’d be much more zen! Great results!

I hear you! I did okay for the first few months , slow and steady but I’ve pretty much ground to a halt for the last 6 weeks.
Thought I’d got out of my stall last week but after a couple of nice meals (tiny portions) it’s bobbled back up again. I think I’ve maybe lost a pound in the last month. So argh. I am telling myself water retention from hot weather, maybe extra muscle from upping the exercise? But I just want the scales to SHIFT - and in the right direction

supadupapupascupa · 13/08/2024 19:15

Hello!!
Just had my first jab
I really couldn't pluck the nerve to jab myself so got my husband to do it. He didn't hang about! But it HURT BAD! Is this normal? It left a mark and thinks he pushed too hard? Still stinging half hour later.....

Mine stung yesterday for about an hour!! It didn't hurt going in but I did definitely feel it, it took me a while to jab myself!

You’re doing better than me, I’ve only lost a stone in 3 months 😨though I have had 3 week break during that. I was frustrated at first but have come to terms now with the fact I’m not going to get fast results, but I also have no side effects at all which is a positive. And if I wasn’t on MJ I wouldn’t have lost that stone and would have likely gained 7-10lbs on top as had a lot of weekends away and social stuff on this summer. This is the first time I’ve successfully managed to lose any weight at all since before covid and I’ve not found it hard work so I’ll take it and run - or in my case plod on 🙂

I’m totally with you there! Mine is 1.5 stone loss - in 4 months!

When I consider if it was worth the £1k+ to lose 1.5 stone, I have to conclude that it was, because I just don’t think I could have got there myself.

Im hoping to lose between 1/2 and 1 stone more before stopping. I won’t be taking maintenance dose/stopping slowly as the pharmacist say it is not necessary on this drug.

I understand the lifestyle is not sustainable in terms or amount of food I’m eating, but i feel confident I’ve learnt more about what I should be eating now, and how much I need to eat. Combined with exercise, which I just have not been able to do on MJ as I have felt consistently unwell and exhausted, I think I can have a really good go at changing my lifestyle enough to keep the majority of the weight off.

Im in the slow loser club with you!

NeedSomeAnswersPlease · 13/08/2024 19:44

Day 1's totals.

Ignore activity - doesn't pull through to my app for some reason. 1000 cals burnt by the time I'm done at the gym

@Secretslimmer @Slimstar13 @MassiveSaladDodger @Mounjaroattheend oh guys, I just popped out and to come back to this has made me quite tearful! @Slimstar13 I am so reassured to hear that the suppression came back for you at higher doses. I think that’s what really threw me for a loop today; out of nowhere I wasn’t just hungry again, the food noise and cravings had/have come back and I just had assumed they were a thing of the past. I started my weight loss journey a decade ago and reduced over several years from 15 stone 4 to 11 stone 4 at Slimming World; but over the last six years or so I crept back up to 13 stone 2; tried Mysimba which worked brilliantly for weight loss and took me down to 12 stone 5 but oh my GOD the anxiety it gave me…well, absolute dread every waking hour…was just untenable. That’s when I started lurking on this thread and found you guys! So at (currently) 11 stone 11 and 5’2” with a tiny frame under the flab, I want to lose about 30lb. I should have confidence that I can do it; I’ve lost a lot of weight in the past but somehow that holds no value to me. I have hypothyroidism and PCOS but never had any hormonal issues either menstrual or through menopause. I eat well but should eat fewer carbs and more protein…my biggest enemy has always been hunger and historically protein just didn’t fill me up. I think that’s why today upset me so much…I just can’t tolerate hunger (I guess it rings too many bells from when I was a kid with a fat phobic mother) and until now hunger had been a thing of the past on Mj. On 2.5mg I was able to eat 1000 calories a day and continue going to the gym four times a week with walking 10,000 steps a day, and to feel that slipping away has been just awful. But now I have hope that this is just a 5mg reaction and I just need to plough on. You’re all absolutely right, if I weren’t taking the Mj I wouldn’t be losing at all and it’s so reassuring to know that I’m not the only one who’s going slow but steady. I wouldn’t care, I was the one the other day spouting about comparisons being invidious ☺️. I shall try to take my own advice along with yours and thank you so much for the support xx

chesterlestreet · 13/08/2024 22:37

@ObsidianTree thank you so much for creating this supportive and at times very entertaining community, long may it continue. I started reading at thread 2 and took the plunge at the end of March. Two and a half stone down and half a stone off BMI 25.

I would not have started without this thread and certainly wouldn't have kept it up. I recently had a request at work to consider people for the New Year Honours and I genuinely wished I could have nominated you for these threads. It's a shame you are anonymous. Here's to the last few hurdles (which will probably take way longer than I expect) and maintenance.

Am thinking of moving to Oushk for the final stages and maintenance. Has anyone any recent feedback?
