Weekly weigh in update, 3lb off so 47lb in total. (Nearly 3.5 stone!)

SW 13.12
TW 10.07

BMI is now 26.

I have another holiday coming up, and want to take a pen that only has a bonus dose in it. From the attached picture can anyone confirm if this pen has a dose and a bonus dose left in it please?

Definitely looks like you've had 3 doses from that pen.

This thread is so inspiring.
Week 3 for me and total of 9lb weight loss so far.
I'm on holiday on Friday for two weeks so ordered my second pen early (move to 5mg).
I'm a bit nervous about increasing dose just as a go on a long haul flight- so will do 30 clicks of the new pen and leave it in the fridge. Will take 2.5mg pen with me and use that dose whilst away (the 4th dose).
I think that makes sense - but I'm a newbie?! Where I am going is very hot and I didn't want to risk the new pen- will sacrifice the "bonus dose" in the old pen instead. It means I stay on 2.5mg for 6 weeks and I can move to 5mg on my return without risking the new one in the heat.
My BMI is just over 30 but I'm tall- target weight is 11.8 stone, currently 14.6 stone.

Someone at some point linked the dose accumulation graphs- could someone link gain please?

The only issue is, you're meant to dispose of your pen 30 days after it's first use, regardless of expiry date. You would need to do some calculations to see how your plan would work as you risk wasting a lot of the 5mg pen.

Might be best to take your 4th dose from your 2.5 pen this week then bring that pen away and use the 'bonus dose' while away (the remaining medicine in the pen after you've used up your 4 doses is usually at least a full dose or a bit more).

Then have your unopened 5mg ready for your return.

End of week 2 for me and I've lost 1.4 kg, total 4.2 kgs in 2 weeks. I've 38kg to lose so a long way to go but I'm happy with 1.2kg. I've had no food noise, it's been a real liberation to go in the kitchen to make a cup of tea and not rummage in the cupboard for a snack while I'm there. I've eaten really well, plenty of protein and veg, small amounts of good carbs and no processed food other than the occasional Nairns oatcake- which I want to find a sub for as they use palm oil.

DragonflyRuby · 11/08/2024 10:13

Gaaaaaa today apparently I’ve gained 1lb as the seemingly never ending stall continues! I’ve been strength training 4 times a week for the last few weeks, plus swimming 3 times a week so hoping it’s an adjustment to that but feel pretty fed up now.

Copperbeechsilverbirch · 11/08/2024 10:14

Oops- lack of food noise meant I forgot to think about my kids' dinner yesterday too!

Funny thing food noise isn't it?!

Anyway, they managed 😂

BellaCriesAndThatsAlright · 11/08/2024 10:18

I ordered a pen from MedExpress two hours ago and it is already approved and dispensed. Maybe they have recruited more staff.

NotALightPacker · 11/08/2024 10:28

I am on my 10th week and have so far lost 1.5 stone. I checked MFP this morning and I haven't been this weight since 2020. Still have a long way to go but this feels sustainable. My clothes are fitting better and it's certainly easier to get up the stairs!

I need to eat more protein so I need to do a bit of research about how to achieve this.

I love the occasional Grenade protein shake, the salted caramel is delicious. 25g protein for 119 calories. Isey Skyr salted caramel yoghurt is 16g protein for less than 100 calories. Guess you know what my favourite sweet thing is now 😀

Ifyounevergiveup · 11/08/2024 10:37

@NotALightPacker oops, forgot to say the best price I’ve found for the Grenade shakes is Amazon, they can cost a bloody fortune elsewhere

PissedOffNeighbour22 · 11/08/2024 10:49

@ObsidianTree well done on reading so far 😂. I might have a read when I have some spare time. I don't recognise as many names these days with the threads being so busy but I bet there's a fair few who dropped off the threads that were once prolific posters.

@FlappyFish one of my friends is on MJ from my recommendation and she's not these threads. She hasn't done as well and I have wondered if it's because she isn't part of a group.

Something a bit worrying happened yesterday - my c-section scar reopened on one end 😣. My son is 2.5yrs old so there's no reason for it to suddenly open up. But at least I don't have quite as much of an apron hanging over the top of it now which would make it riskier for an infection.

BlackFriYay · 11/08/2024 11:06

Checking in after (almost) my first full week on 10mg.

Total lost in the past 6 days - just under 2lb.

Starting weight (on 19th March 24) was 13 stone 8 lbs with a BMI of 34 or 35.

Current weight is 9 stones 8.4lbs.

Goal weight is 9 stones 5 lbs.

I'm 5.4lbs to go to my goal weight 🥳

I've had some good appetite suppression on 10mg which was a welcome change as I spent two months on 7.5 and had virtually none for the duration of my second pen. I injected in my thigh for the first time in months with the hope of minimising side effects (which have been minimal - happy days)

I have, however, had a temporary increase in migraines coinciding with me upping the dose. I'm not too worried about it as I clearly recall getting a migraine every time I injected when I started on 2.5mg back in March, so I know its something that tapers off as I adjust to the new dose and have been migraine free for a while now. I don't plan to be on 10mg for more than the next 4 weeks and will be reducing again for maintenance once I hit my goal.

I now understand what everybody was talking about when mentioning sulphur burps! My god I'm gassy 😂

BlackFriYay · 11/08/2024 11:08

My progress chart since I started using nutricheck (which I love! Thanks for the recommendation)

@NewLifter

Yes I had considered that but was worried I might not be able to get bonus dose out on holiday. And don't want to take insulin string etc in case I get a baggage search and need to explain it!
Is there a way I can try and establish this before I go? If I do last dose from old pen and then a hard twist is it obvious if it's going to work?

@GlitteringUnicorn
You're on a prescription injection so, even if your baggage is searched, you're entirely within your rights to be carrying it. I haven't done it myself but seen lots of others comment that they had no issues at airports - diabetics, for example, carry their insulin without worrying.I've always used a syringe for the 5th dose and it's been really easy and much more reliable than the hard twist method.

Jimmyneutronsforehead · 11/08/2024 11:33

104.25kg today.

A small drop. I seem to have developed insomnia, and I'm really sensitive to the cold whereas before in a past life I think I live in the cold windy mountains for fun. Now as soon as there's a shade my goosebumps are out.

For the first time ever yesterday I had the energy to go out of the house just for the sake of going for a walk. Took my little boy on his bike. It does take more gusto to take my little boy out as he's autistic and has no sense of danger and he's much faster than I am so at times it did feel like I was competing in the Olympics but I genuinely enjoyed going for a walk for the first time in a very long time and not just using walking to commute.

I have taken a pen plus spare needles and a spare empty 1ml syringe with needle through airport security .... no issues they didn't even look at it or turn a hair.
Mine were in my hand luggage on the aircraft.

dmott · 11/08/2024 12:18

I've now been using a 12.5mg pen to give between 6.25mg and 8.33mg for 45 days now with no noticeable drop in effect. And my final dose from this pen will be on day 52.

I did this due to a pen which may have been delivered warmer than ideal and as we hadn't yet begun to have Eli Lilly confirm when pens are safe I didn't want it sat in my fridge for weeks before it needed starting.

My bmi is now 26.9 and I'm feeing positive I only have 11 weeks left of Mounjaro due to costs I can't afford more. But I feel hopeful that I will be able to stay on track and continue to lose.

I will stick around here after finishing for science and motivation

I’ve done that a few times too oops!

FarriersGirl · 11/08/2024 12:47

@Slimstar13 is absolutely right about many supermarket protein offerings. They are also ultra processed foods which I personally try and keep to a minimum. @NotALightPacker don't forget things like eggs, prawns and turkey are all low fat and high protein. I buy the turkey breast steaks and marinate them before cooking which makes them juicier 🍤

TerfTalking · 11/08/2024 14:45

Haven’t updated for a few weeks but I’ve completed week 8 yesterday. Five weeks on 2.5 and 3 on five. The first week or two on 5ml I felt absolutely horrendous, exhausted and sick but it’s really settled down now.

In the 8 weeks I’ve lost 25 pounds
and I can finally feel and see the difference.

I went shopping yesterday and for the first time in so long I actually liked my reflection in shop windows, I didn’t look fat and middle aged.

Today I have cleared my wardrobe and I have found SO MANY gorgeous size 14 clothes still with tags on, that I loved and kept “to slim into” and now they ALL fit perfectly. I’m so bloody happy I have a brand new wardrobe.

I also have about two bin liners of fat clothes to charity shop
or take to the dump and put in the textile bin.
