Eat a big meal then weigh yourself?! Would that tip you over BMI 30? ...then you wouldn't be lying!

Also can you show your husband another suppliers pharmacy registration to put his mind at rest.

If not I know others use Asda another big name and get on ok with them I think.

Edited

Thank you.

Ah sorry I didn't do the sums I by no means meant to fudge numbers..hence why mentioning a big meal ...I took a touch under 30 on face value...thinking like 29.99...so could potentially be over 30 at different point of the day (like after a big meal)....that will teach me to not all ways take things on face value and think a bit more!

I honestly didn't realise I'd need to gain over a stone to hit a BMI of 30! I thought it would just be a couple of pounds.

Hi. I'm following along very excitedly seeing all your positive stories but haven't ordered my first MJ pen yet. But I have a couple of issues about using it. Firstly, I'm 5ft 6 and 12.8 stone so my BMI is just under 30. Has anyone else told a little white lie in order to qualify?

Also my DH only wants me to order it from Boots because he's heard some horror stories about people being given fake medication that's dangerous. But reading on here Boots sound a nightmare to deal with and are so much more expensive!

I really want to drop 30lbs but my body is so determined to just stay over 12 stone. Any advice would be very gratefully received.

Unless you have a medical condition or are of one of the ethnicities where a BMI between 27-30 is allowed, then you don’t qualify. Those weight ranges are set in place for a specific medical reason - and when would you reveal your real weight to your prescriber to ensure that you were not using it when it was clinically unsafe?

Would I advise lying? No. A&E is full of people who lied to get their hands on it when they should not have. It’s not an ‘easy fix’. You still have to follow a diet, even if it makes that easier - however that benefit comes at a cost: constipation, nausea, diarrhoea for many. Is it really worth risking being unwell when there are many of other methods that could help you lose a couple of stone?

Week Two for me - 2.5g just done

Start date - 3 August 2024

Start weight - 89kg/196lbs/ 14.2stone

Current weight 1 week in 10 August - 193.4lbs

First week loss - 2.6lbs (weighing most days just to keep track of the fluctuation - lowest this week was 191.7 and highest 195.3)

Target weight - 60kg / 133lbs/ 9.6 stone (think this will change to closer to 10 stone)

Have been eating well, swimming and walking a lot more. Not really felt massive appetite suppression and have had good sized portions

need to track better and drink more water!!

Hi All, just had my 2nd 10ml injection which my husband does for me. Today’s one hurt a bit. He seems to find it quite difficult to push the plunger part of the injection. Does anyone else have that problem? Not sure how I’d be able to do it myself if it seems that tricky for him.

I use my thumb.
First time , I did it with my fore finger and it was tricky! (My hands aren't big enough!)
But if you grip with a fist and push down with your thumb it is easy peasy.

I inject myself and DH (he’s scared of needles!) and I find it far easier to do myself than to do him. The angle feels wrong when injecting him, and I don’t instinctively know how hard to push whereas it’s easy to gauge when injecting myself.

Well done to all the loses and NSV!

I had to share I'm under 100kg! Week 17 and 15 kilos lost. I haven't been this weight in over 4 years and I feel so different.

I keep imagining carrying 15 bags of sugar around and can't believe it. Still have around 25 kg to go but it feels so achievable.

W3: 18 st 9.7 -3.3

W5: 18st 4.2 -2
W6: 17st 13 -5.2

Total loss 1 st 11lbs (25lbs or 11.3 kgs)
I'm swimming 5-6 days a week, for about 30 mins and eating 1100 to 1250 cals per day
Generally healthy and minimal carbs but have the occasional wrap or small portion of nachos/ crisps (I weigh everything) to mix it up a bit.
Interesting to see the difference from the enormous portions I was eating prior.

Really pleased.
Only 5.5 stone to go. Eeek 😶

Made me laugh, my hands are tiny and I find pushing the plunger really difficult even with my thumb. When reading your post I suddenly thought, why don’t I use both hands? Genuinely hadn’t thought of it before and will give it a go next Thursday!

  1. contact Eli Lilly to carry out an assessment for you once you get your hands on your pen if warm. They will advise if safe to use (most likely yes).
  2. reach out to your supplier and complain about it; state that per manufacturer guidelines it needs to be stored at between 2 and 8 C (quick google gives you the exact quote from Eli Lilly’s own website); state that they have a responsibility to provide safe and efficient medication, and if they expect you to use it outside of the manufacturer’s own guidelines they’re putting your health at risk. Tell them you expect a swift replacement pen to be sent out to you, and that if they don’t honour their obligation to you as a patient, you are prepared to formally raise a complaint with the GPhC

that did the trick for me .

NewLifter · 10/08/2024 11:03

The pens are very much designed for self-administration so I would very much believe that injecting someone else would be harder!

The plunger is stiff for sure, because it's such a fine needle it makes it harder to push the liquid through it, that's why it takes so much pressure - it's not a design fault.

Just be patient and take your time to press it all the way down, there's no rush.

Yeah, totally get it.

However, Eli Lilly will most likely Confirm it is safe to use and just as efficient, and the 30 days countdown starts after first injection. But do reach out to them to get an assessment for your case in particular.

NewLifter · 10/08/2024 11:06

Slimstar that's terrible! I think it was @3wdavid who had recent success with this.

You could still receive it today - mine always shows as being in a different city right up until my own postman scans it in, then I receive it literally half an hour later (my post always comes really early, we seem to be his first street every day). So fingers crossed it comes yet!

You could have had a dodgy needle that was a little bent so made it a bit harder to push liquid through.

I’m really confused about the storage guidance. The Patient Info Leaflet says don’t use after expiry date, needs to be kept between 2-8 degrees c, and can be stored unrefrigerated for up to 30 days. So by this I understand that if you keep it in the fridge it is fine to use at any point until it expires? So buying a few weeks in advance and using over 5 weeks (to include bonus dose) would be ok as long as it is kept in the fridge?
It doesnt say anything about the 30 days starting from first dose if unrefrigerated - or is that extra info from Eli Lilly? (Interested as mine arrived warm but Voy assured me it would be fine to use. But does that mean I need to use within 30 days?)

The MedExpress pen I ordered on Thursday evening has just arrived. No idea why there is such a variation in their service at the moment.

TheOverweightFortySomething · 10/08/2024 13:29

Just ordered again from MedExpress after my reorder status had a code stuck on it.

Order gone through but now says underneath in red “order restricted until Saturday 24th August”

Cant wait to get back from holiday and call them Tuesday to find out what’s going on. 🙄

I might be wrong but I think that just means you can’t order again until the 24th August? I ordered on Thursday (delivered today) and mine now says under it that repeat prescription is restricted until Thursday 22nd August.
