Why are you all having protein shakes?
Can't you just eat normal food?
Genuine question, because I haven't received my MJ yet.

Kilimounjaro · 02/07/2024 22:25

It’s because it’s really hard to eat enough protein through normal food - it takes a really conscious effort, most people don’t eat enough protein.….eta and you’re advised to keep your protein intake up to avoid muscle loss during the weight loss.

Thank you!

I try to get my protein from whole foods it depends what you like eating but a combination of eggs, yogurt, milk, chicken, ham in small measured quantities hits 80g a day quite easily and if I’m lacking I’ll have one of those getPro yogurts as a treat. I eat gluten free & try to avoid artificial sweeteners so this works well for me. I’m losing weight steadily. I’m still logging everything on mfp so I can track my calories whilst I reset my portion sizes and snacks. But my go to snacks have been a banana & apple every day where as before it be gf-biscuits. I’ve not touched a biscuit in 3 weeks and I’m slightly scared to now in case eat the whole packet of GF oaties.

Half stone milestone!

15th June SW 13st 7 - BMI 36.9
Day 18 CW 13st 0 - BMI 35.5

daffodilandtulip · 03/07/2024 06:45

@SarahB88 oh that sounds much easier! I'll get those. I think I calculated 50g for me (can't remember the calculation now!) but I don't like eggs or chicken so I struggle even normally, I've just been conscious that with barely wanting to eat, I don't want it to drop too much.

Newme24 · 03/07/2024 06:59

@daffodilandtulip that's amazing! Well done 👏

SarahB88 · 03/07/2024 07:35

@daffodilandtulip I find it much easier as my appetite is really next to nothing but the yoghurt drinks in particular are an easy way to get protein in but they are quite sugary at 17% of daily allowance so just watch that you aren’t going over your recommended sugar limit for the day.

Snozzlemaid · 03/07/2024 09:00

End of week 5 weigh in for me this morning and lost another 3lbs.

SW 18 stone 6lbs
CW 17 stone 3 lbs

I don't have a goal weight at the moment as it's just too big a challenge to think about. But just want to get to a healthier BMI.

Very excited to be edging towards being 16 stone something. Not seen that number on the scales for many years.

5 doses of 2.5mg taken so far and I'm going to do a 3.75 dose today as a stepping stone up to 5mg. I've got a night out on Friday that I don't want to be ill for, so not jumping straight up to 5mg.

Callmejudith · 03/07/2024 09:07

Fantastic @Snozzlemaid

NSV for me - wearing a pair of trousers that have never made it around my waist before 😀

Callmejudith · 03/07/2024 09:11

@daffodilandtulip brilliant well done

greenmillions · 03/07/2024 09:18

Second injection day for me today. Have lost 6lbs in my first week which I'm really pleased with.

I have also had the chills, along with bad back and shoulder pain. Bit bunged up too, although that's not majorly unusual for me.

Sorry to lower the tone, and I can't remember if poo talk was on this post or another, but my poo has gone quite a lot darker than normal. Has anyone else had this? I'm not too worried about it being anything sinister really as I had a colonoscopy in April. Perhaps it's a change in diet? I'm not eating anything sweet really, and no junk either. Perhaps that's why.

The food noise and hunger was back yesterday - I ate all of my calories for the first time since I started. Still in control but just more hungry so that's ok. Hopefully the new injection will see that off again.

Well done everyone! :)

JomonotFomo · 03/07/2024 09:19

I’m feeling much better (fingers crossed) but I’m definitely going to try 3.75 this week as it was pretty bad. Too much of a risk with working.

My clothes are fitting way better now too which is brilliant. I just wish someone would notice, I know that’s very vain of me but I’m nearly 45 and feel invisible at the best of times!

JomonotFomo · 03/07/2024 09:21

Well done @Snozzlemaid and @daffodilandtulip

@greenmillions i think pretty much every time I post I lower the tone!!

4outof4 · 03/07/2024 09:21

The strangest thing just happened ... made brownies for an event, automatically put the bowls and spoons in the sink without licking them ...
Another victory, a pair of jeans that had become too small are now fitting again. I hadn't gone up a size, just couldn't wear any if my jeans or trousers anymore and lived in elasticated skirts/dress and leggings so I'm not sure if I'm down a full size or not but they're fitting so it's a win!
Haven't weighed this week as due on and have a very large cyst causing pain so I think any inflammation will just make me feel like I'm not getting anywhere when really I am.

daffodilandtulip · 03/07/2024 09:25

Ah thanks for all the well dones! What a lovely group. It's hard not to feel disappointed when you see the other big losses but we need to remember it's not even a therapeutic dose yet.

This is so important to remember I think and definitely something I keep losing sight of. Half a stone is brilliant work!

I've managed to losing the 0.5kg which returned whilst I was away over the weekend so now back to where I was a week ago. Just done my third injection and hoping a combination of that plus my period hopefully arriving today/tomorrow will help shift the number down a bit.

I also keep trying to remember what massively hard work even losing 1/2 a pound to a pound a week would be for me otherwise. And so even a pound or two a week (I'm currently on holiday so it's a mystery until I get back in mid July) without it being difficult would be a massive boon.

100% - my targeted loss on MyFitnessPal is aiming for a pound a week loss and pre-MJ I'd have been delighted to be hitting that (and it would've felt like a lot more work!)

fairydust11 · 03/07/2024 11:19

@daffodilandtulip well done 👏

@greenmillions that happened to me too for few days - it went a dark greeny brown colour 🙈 but I realised I’d taken some pepto bismol (I bought some when I went on holiday earlier this year) as I felt nauseous, so I think it was that as it seems to have settled back down to normal again.

MJ333 · 03/07/2024 11:49

I’m in the 12 stone bracket!!! And 3lb away from the lowest weight I’ve been since pre kids. Very exciting. Having a dilemma about how to dose over the next few weeks.
I’m due a dose today- have got the bonus dose from my 2.5 pen to do. Next Friday we go away for 8 days so I’m a bit tempted to actually do it tomorrow (so Thursday) and then a day later next week, so Friday morning, and then a day later the week after (Saturday, when we get home) so that I don’t have to worry about taking the pen with me as keeping it cold might be tricky.
Or do I just take the doses as usual on the Wednesday and keep the pen with me but unfridged?

I’m also torn between whether to go up to 5 or not. I’ve got another 2.5 pen as I changed provider and thought I might want to stay on a low dose. We’ve got a few hols coming up and I just don’t want horrid side effects plus, like pps are saying, I’ve lost 8lb over 5 weeks without it feeling hard and I’d be very happy to see the same again. I’ve probably got another stone to go until I’m happy to stop/taper off so not in a mad rush as feeling good about how my body is feeling.

TheShellBeach · 03/07/2024 11:57

My first pen arrived and I've injected the first dose.

I am so interested to see what happens.

I couldn't see any liquid in the pen but I assume it was in there.

Do you have to go through all the steps again for the subsequent doses?

Sewfrickinamazeballs · 03/07/2024 11:58

@daffodilandtulip @Snozzlemaid @MJ333 congrats! Fantastic losses and milestones being reached.

Fabulous to read about everyone’s week, well done!
Second weigh in this morning and I’m very happy with a 4lb loss!
I didn’t do this last week but am going to add my Fast800 loss as well so that I can keep track 😁

F8 SW - 17st 7lbs
Loss - 9lbs
MJ SW - 16st 12lbs
CW - 16st 1lb

Does anyone else get ridiculously excited on JAB DAY? Can’t wait for later! 😂

Callmejudith · 03/07/2024 15:24

@TheShellBeach did you not get liquid when you primed the pen?

Some great losses it's so good! Even 1lb a week all adds up - I also think 1lb is actually more likely to be flab coming off
