There are so many weight loss injection threads, but I thought I'd start this for anyone feeling a bit deflated by their slower than average loses. It can be disheartening to see others losing multiple lbs per week when it is a slower process for some.

Well done, especially while away from the scales and at an all inclusive.

Sadteacher · 27/11/2024 18:04

@Azuresky68 you look fantastic! Have you bought many new clothes?

letshavetea · 27/11/2024 18:14

@Azuresky68 - you look amazing. You also look lovely and slim. I’d be shopping for a new wardrobe!

Azuresky68 · 27/11/2024 19:32

Thank you, everyone, for your lovely comments! At the beginning of lockdown, I got down to 9 stone 4 pounds and kept under 10 stone for over 2 years. I shot up to 11 stone this year and was so defeated, then I found out about MJ...what a game changer. No need to buy new clothes really as I have quite a lot that I bought when I was 9 stone 4, including a pair of size 10 New Look Faux leather jeans..they zip up now and will be perfect when I lose the rest..don't ever give up..I am 68 and have struggled all my life with my weight. I'm feeling amazing, but I need to keep it off this time, and that's a bit scary. Thanks again x

@Azuresky68 Yet again you make my day! You look fabulous. Those faux leathers are sprinting towards you!

They might be a bit 'mutton' but I don't care..might even add leopard skin top 😅😅

So happy to have found this thread! Was starting to feel a bit disheartened seeing some of the big losses on other threads. I've just finished my first 4 weeks on 2.5mg and took the 'bonus' dose today which worked out to about 2.9mg, I think. Will start 5mg next week. Apart from week 2 when I lost 1.4kg, my losses have been tiny each week but down 2.2kg total in 4 weeks so just keep telling myself it's moving in the right direction.

Azuresky68 · 30/11/2024 18:26

@MJloser welcome to the thread! How much in total have you lost? I have averaged 1.3 pounds over 14 weeks but it all adds up. When I started I wanted to jab and wake up at my target the next day 😅 Slow and steady with a strict eye on calories consumed and eating healthy with plenty of protein is my way of losing the weight...that was what I did before anyway but I struggled with my low calorie intake. For me, the jabs help me stick to the plan and eat the right amount of calories to lose weight. Best of luck, and I hope you don't suffer too much with side effects. The threads are really helpful and lots of support on here 👍😀

Azuresky68 · 30/11/2024 18:32

@MJloser sorry I missed that you posted 2.2 kg in total, so that's over a pound a week and you are on the lowest dose. I have gone up every time and currently on 10 mg. I have 9 pounds to go and then will be on maintenance...my challenge is to keep the weight off this time! Have you worked out how many calories you should be eating for your weight, height and age? It's a challenge losing weight but so glad I discovered MJ!

MJloser · 30/11/2024 19:01

@Azuresky68 thanks for the encouragement! Yes, I think it works out to about 1.2 lbs a week so quite similar to your average. Did you find your losses were quite similar each week and with the different doses or was it quite variable?

I was already eating reasonably healthily and going to the gym before I started Mounjaro but the scales weren't moving. I've always gained weight easily but in my 20s and 30s, I was always able to manage it through increasing exercise. Now in my late 40s, it feels like no what I do my weight just keeps going up and up. So I'm really happy to see the scales finally nudging downwards! I haven't been calorie counting but I think my main issues were portion size and snacking, both of which Mounjaro has really helped with!

It sounds like the slow and steady approach has really worked for you - only 9llbs to your target is great! Best of luck losing those last few pounds and maintaining your new weight.

Pinkyp22 · 30/11/2024 19:21

@Ifyounevergiveup
I have manged to break this 90s funk and can now see 89kg on the scales 🎉🎉🙏
Syill only 1lb loss this week but going in the right direction
Now the dilema, do I order 7.5mg or 10mg for my next pen?
I have got a good discount code for oushk pharmacy, who I was planning to move to soon as they do a blue light discount on every order, but they have a black Friday cose OUSHKFRIDAY for anyone wanting it, £150 for 10mg!
If I only start at 8mg the pen will last a good while too.
Does anyone else use Oushk?

Ifyounevergiveup · 30/11/2024 19:32

@Pinkyp22 oh wow 80s girl, get you! Honestly it was money which made me get the 10mg pen; at that point it and the 7.5mg pen were the same price and I figured that if 10mg proved too strong, I could count clicks and get more than five doses for the same cost. If you do the same, remember to keep the pen in the fridge! As for me, I’m still stalled at 11.1 but splitting my 10mg into two lots of 30 clicks is much kinder to my intestinal tract 😂. Have you come up with a Christmas plan yet? ❤️

Ill get the 10mg
Its the usual worry of a new provider, what they're like with turnover and delivery but ive got plenty ofntime left im my current pen.

I just plan to eat what I fancy but dont over do it, and as I'm off work I can keep up with my workouts

Azuresky68 · 01/12/2024 09:56

@MJloser apart from the first week I have lost a similar amount each week. I had 2 stone to lose so wasn't expecting huge losses. I have been a yo yo dieter all my adult life and as I got to late 60's found it nearly impossible to lise weight. MJ enables me to eat between 800 to 1000 calories a day without hunger. I make sure i eat healthy though. If you are stalling nearer your goal I believe calorie counting is the only way but that's just my own opinion. I tried losing weight a couple of years ago and couldn't understand why it wouldn't budge. Took some professional advice and found that my maintenance calories are around 1300! That's due to age, height, weight and a crashed metabolism from yo yo dieting all my life. The scary part for me is keeping the weight off this time after all the money, time and effort spent.

Azuresky68 · 01/12/2024 09:59

@Pinkyp22 yes I use Oushk. They charge £5 for a 15 minute maintenance consultation and mine is booked for tomorrow. They are very responsive to emails and phone calls too 👍

Sadteacher · 01/12/2024 10:49

@Azuresky68 it will be interesting to hear what their advice is to you, I wonder if it would be different to someone who loses lots, like a stone a pen? Those of us on here aren’t in any danger of shooting below our bmi taking a lower dose as maintenance… maybe we are the perfect candidates for maintaining as we have lost the weight slowly? Here’s hoping!
I am on 10mg and feel exhausted. I am thinking about getting a couple of 5 mg pens to wean off when I’m a healthy weight. Not sure how easy that is, I’ve been with medexpress the whole time. I do hope I’ll have the energy to do lots of exercise when I’m off the pens though which can only help with maintaining.

Pinkyp22 · 01/12/2024 11:06

@Azuresky68 I was disappointed to see Oushk dont take paypal as a payment option, so Ive talked myself out of ordering with them now 😣
I had problems with Curate and I have seen so many have delivery issues I am very very wary of not using paypal on such an expensive thing now.

NaivePrey · 01/12/2024 13:04

Morning all after a 2 weeks of yo-yo-ing losing and gaining the same 0.5kg - I’ve hit the 6kg loss ☺️ - so just under a stone which hopefully will be lost before Christmas. I’ve counted my weeks properly and it’s within 12 weeks so just over a 1lb a week on average.

How did people decide whether to increase to the next dose - I did 2 months on 2.5mg and just finished my 5mg pen and starting the next pen today of 5mg. I’ve got over the 💩 and feeling sick and not sure I should go up a dose due to side effects. I seem to have a good balance of appetite suppression and not much food noise apart from last day before next jab is due and not being overly tired (was miserable on 2.5mg as was tired so much). I’m tracking my calories as I also weight train 3 times a week so can’t drop them too much on the advice of my trainer.

as I’m losing slowly anyway not sure moving to 7.5mg will be beneficial? Has anyone found the weight loss speeding up after moving up?

onwards and downwards - hope everyone has a great December!

Ifyounevergiveup · 01/12/2024 13:54

@NaivePrey hello lovely! I can only speak for myself but I go up when I find I can feel hunger and/or I start getting the urge to eat crap. Neither of these things are normal now I’m on Mj (they used to be with me all the time) so if they start creeping back, that’s my signal to go up. Personally I don’t go up if the issue is that I want to lose weight more quickly, I share @Azuresky68 ’s view that the only way of managing actual weight loss is to review your food intake. Hunger and food obsession is a different matter; Mj can and does help me with both of those. From what you describe, in your shoes I wouldn’t be going up a dose yet. Hope this is useful!

NaivePrey · 01/12/2024 15:16

@Ifyounevergiveup thanks that is what I'm thinking as well - I'm tracking my calories on myfitnesspal and will reassess after Christmas - but will get another 5mg jab for January.

letshavetea · 02/12/2024 11:32

I’ve just been having the same debate with myself re what dose to order. I settled for a second 5mg pen which I ordered this morning f from Oushk to try and prevent any problems with Christmas delays. I’ve completed two 2.5 mg pens in ten weeks. On Sunday I’ll start my first 5mg pen (probably at 3.75 mg). I’m being cautious as I have some nausea, heartburn and burps. Constipation still returns very occasionally but I control this with water and fibre plus exercise. Suppression seems to have increased and I always leave some food on my plate. It’s a very strange feeling that I’m not constantly thinking about food, but more having to eat the right thing to prevent side effects. The only thing suppression doesn’t seem to stop is alcohol! But, I do control that and don’t drink during the week.

I’ve just returned from a two week holiday and a week later I’ve lost a pound. So I didn’t gain weight on holiday (a first for me!). Total loss in ten weeks is 6 pounds - so I am definitely a slow loser.
In 10 weeks, 5 foot 6. Hypothyroid, post menopause
SW 12 stone 10
CW 12 stone 4
GW - probably 10 and a half stone

I use fat secret to track calories and monitor your weight to record progress.

Azuresky68 · 02/12/2024 18:04

Good evening, everyone. An update on my maintenance consultation with Hira at Ouschk. It was a good 15 minutes, and I have decided to stay on 10 mg until mid-January, then reduce down to 7.5mg. By then I am hoping that I am at target. I have used the OuschkFriday code to get 20% off my January order. It finishes today at midnight. 10 mg is giving me such high suppression. My next jab is Wednesday, but I am still struggling to eat some days. It seems like MJ makes my brain work like people who don't have a weight problem. If they overeat one day, then the next day, they eat less to compensate, if that makes sense? All I have eaten today is a homemade protein pancake with yoghurt and raspberries and 300 mls of skimmed milk in my coffee and tea. I just can't eat anything else. Side effects are slight nausea and just started with burps! As always, good luck to all, and thanks for being on the thread.

Well done on the 6kg!

I took my last dose of 5mg yesterday and I'm also wondering whether I should go up or not. I feel like it's working well at the moment, it's definitely not that I don't fancy snacks sometimes but I'll have a little and then stop which is great for me. I'm also losing around 1lb a week on average.

I did wonder whether to move up to 7.5 as I'm worried 5 may stop working just in time for Christmas and I'm worried about a gain.

So I'm dithering.
