There are so many weight loss injection threads, but I thought I'd start this for anyone feeling a bit deflated by their slower than average loses. It can be disheartening to see others losing multiple lbs per week when it is a slower process for some.

Yes but probably only two or three times in two years. You have just hit a small blood vessel this time.

Ifyounevergiveup · 11/11/2024 20:14

@Azuresky68 both @Pinkyp22 and I have had the same experience as you, and it’s why I record everything I eat. If I didn’t I’m the world’s best liar to myself, so I get into the “but I’m eating nothing, it’s sooooo unfair that I’m going to have a cake” vicious circle. I started on 1300 calories a day on Mj but had to drop to 1100 to lose weight at the rate of a pound a week. Hormonal issues such as hypothyroidism and PCOS (I have both) mean sufferers just can’t eat as much as someone identical without the issues; in fact those two issues together knock 20% off a “normal” calorie limit. But you’re right, Mj at least helps us exist on that level of calories without wanting to eat our own limbs. Have another wonderful holiday and you watch, you might come back lighter again!

DropOfffArtiste · 11/11/2024 20:55

I opened a pack of stollen cakes yesterday and had one. Today I worked from home and completely forgot about them whereas before I would've been obsessed.

Ifyounevergiveup · 12/11/2024 09:26

@DropOfffArtiste I read your post too quickly and thought it said stolen cakes; I thought desperation had struck 😆

Fancy cake not being able to talk to you any more!

RunSlowTalkFast · 12/11/2024 13:48

I'm due to do my 7th jab (2nd of 5mg) on Thursday and have not yet experienced any of the appetite suppression or quietening of food noise thar others seems to experience almost immediately!

Is that a bit early to join this thread?

Did anyone else get no effect from either 2.5mg or 5mg but did eventually at a higher dose?

🤞

BackToWegovy · 12/11/2024 14:06

Yes - I found the 7.5 mg better. But then developed bad side effects at 10mg. The research graphs show a much better effect on 10mg than 5mg.

Ifyounevergiveup · 12/11/2024 17:50

@RunSlowTalkFast hello my lovely, yes, many of us have been there. At one point the only thing which kept me taking Mj at 5mg was knowing that I’d always wonder if it WOULD have worked eventually, if I stopped taking it.

at the risk of boring everyone’s pants off with repetition, here’s my weight loss on each increment.

start weight in June 12 stone 5
after 5 shots of 2.5mg 12 stone 4 and livid
after 5 shots of 5mg 11 stone 13 and still pretty pissed off at 6lb off in 10 weeks
after 5 shots of 7.5mg 11 stone 5 and getting a little bit cheerful
after 5 shots of 10mg 11 stone 1.

so I lose broadly a pound a week but it took until 7.5mg to really kick in. Until then I was still hungry every week and the food noise never really went away. Now I eat 1100 calories a day with a stone and a half still to lose and for the first time in my 58 years I know I’ll get there. So have patience, if you’re not losing look critically at your calorie intake, if you’re feeling hunger pangs and/or food noise continue to up your dose, but if you’re not, don’t. In retrospect I shouldn’t have gone up to 10mg and will be reducing to 45 clicks (7.5mg equivalent) from my new pen this week onwards. My only side effect is gastrointestinal but no one wants to know they could shit through a needle whenever required 💩💩💩. @BackToWegovy I hope you haven’t suffered in the same way on 10mg!

BackToWegovy · 12/11/2024 18:19

Yes - my side effects were cramps, vomiting, sulphur burps and bad diarrhoea. For about 3 days each time and I first had it on my 4th 10mg dose, then I cut down to 5 the next week and it was the same. Then I had a break and restarted at 2.5 mg and it did it again at 5 mg and at 4 mg when I tried to creep back up gradually. 4 times was enough and I quit. But before that I thought Mounjaro was amazing and better than Wegovy.

ShrinkingMama · 12/11/2024 19:52

I've now moved onto 5mg and so far so good, the last two days seem to be better than the last few weeks on 2.5. Hoping for a steady loss now for a while.

Aha! Hence the name! I love making sense of peopke’s handles!

I am a daily weigher and know things fluctuate and can cope with that but somehow 100g in a day is overly disappointing. Have to tell myself that 0.7kg in a week would be pretty good for me and it all adds up.

It's always helpful to read your posts! Curious to know how 10 mg will impact me. On Monday I extracted .9 mls of 7.5 mg MJ gorgeous my bonus jab, so guess that's 10 mg? I set off on holiday yesterday and no side effects so far, apart from a headache. We are all inclusive but have stuck to meat and veg/salad so far. Haven't even fancied potatoes, rice, pasta, ice cream, desserts vodka and coke or wine so hoping to stay the same or lose!

Azuresky68 · 14/11/2024 08:27

After jabbing 10 mg I don't fancy eating anything at all or drinking alcohol. I can really tell the difference on 10mg. I thought I had suppression before, but this is another level. When I read that people were struggling to eat all, I didn't have the same effect although it helped keep me to 1000 cals or under.

Pinkyp22 · 15/11/2024 12:13

@Ifyounevergiveup 🎉🎉 a pound is a pound!! Are you still on 10mg? How is it going?

I have been ok on 7.5, I had terrible fatigue on Sunday but it did pass quickly. Really strange how our bodies react, I seem to have just needed that period slowly going up doses I guess.
I have changed my jab day to Thursday evening in an attempt to ward off this fatigue I'm getting at weekends, when I need brain power for studies.
I have thank god lost 2lbs this week 🎉, so im on the move again 🙄 I was hoping to be down in the 80s bracket but 90kg it is 🙄
How have I broken a stall, honestly don't know, I did up exercise at the weekend but had very little time to do anything this week, I have eaten a less than I should , just because I havnt felt hungry and have been busy, probably less than 1000 🙄 I'm not proud of that because it wont be sustainable for me in the long run. Next week is my last week on placement, so after that Ill be back to my normal working hours and a bit more routine and time to plan and make evening meals, and do some proper exercising. Now I have typed this, I am wondering if the stall I had is stress related, as its coincided with my 6 week uni placement 🙄. My usual habits would have seen me binge eating for stress relief, I obviously havnt doje that but the stress still found to a way to get to me 🙄😣
I am getting more and more comments on my weight loss, its a strange feeling when I catch myself in the mirror! I know 90kg is probably more than some people's starting weight, but being tall and thick framed, its really showing on me now.

I cant remember the name of the person asking, but I have bruised on occasion, I do bruise easily but you can hit a teeny capillary which can cause bruising, or you're just a peach like me. I have saying this though noticed in the last month or so I have a little local reaction at the injection site, I get a little red itchy patch for 2/3 days after, it has only just started happening, previously I've only ever had a small bruise here and there. I spoke to diabetes nurse at work who said try a slightly longer needle - I used 5mm last night instead of my usual 4mm, so far no redness BUT it actually hurt for a while after 😅🙄. I'm thinking I might need to give my poor tummy a little break but as its the fattest part of me I prefer to do my injection there!
Sorry I've really waffled on there, well done if you got to the end 😂😅

Hi all good too see some more losses. I got back from a few days away and weighed myself yesterday as had lots of nice food albeit small portions while away. I’m on week 3 of 5mg and my total loss has been 5.5kg / 12lbs, and I’ve been doing this for 12 weeks so averaging about a 1lb a week. Although I am still weight training 3 times a week so thinking it will be slower as I’m trying to build my muscle up or that is what I am saying to myself.

I actually had more suppression on 2.5mg for the first month at least and I did two months of it as I felt quite sick and cold. The 5mg is a bit better apart from the sulphur burps and I can’t tolerate any amount of alcohol - not that I drink much but the odd glass of wine or spirits wakes me up in the middle of the night.

As the weight loss has been so gradual I don’t feel like I’ve lost anything although I have started feeling squishy on my fat bits? Has anyone else had this especially on the love handles and outer thighs? It’s like I’m melting 🫠

NaivePrey · 15/11/2024 20:06

Forgot to add does anyone else get bunged up one day and the following it’s ploppity plop all day? It’s like make your mind up body!

Onwards and downwards and hope everyone has a nice weekend 😀

Azuresky68 · 16/11/2024 09:07

@NaivePrey similar to you..my average is around a pound a week. 14 weeks with 15 pounds off and 13 more to go. Gone up the doses at the end of each pen and managed a bonus dose 3 times- first one was a fail! When I get home from hols I will start 10 mgs but managed to extract equivalent of 10 mg from 7.5 mg. Suppression is great. Side effects - not bad, just Indigestion, a bit of sickness and headaches. Might stay in 10 mg. I didn't weigh before holiday and will try not to weigh for a week after I get back. If suppression stays high I am going to do a really strict but healthy week. About the fat melt...well I am 68 years old, under 5 foot - struggled all my life and never had a bikini bod!! My tummy is awful ...I do a bit of sunbathing on holiday so guess I will end up like a wrinkled prune.. but I really don't care 😅

ToBeOrNotToBee · 16/11/2024 17:28

Back from shopping today. I have to keep reminding myself that I am no longer XL/16 in shops and went into a few boutiques that I'd never previously step in as they wouldn't carry my size.
Today though, I tried on a size 12 in one shop and found it was too big, so size 10 it was!! Even as a teen I wasn't a size 10!

It's interesting because even though my weight it still overweight, the shape has massively changed.

Ifyounevergiveup · 16/11/2024 19:09

@Pinkyp22 hello dear heart, how’re you doing? I really suffered last weekend on my 10mg bonus jab so last Thursday I dropped back down to 7.5mg out of my new 10mg pen. It’s Saturday night now and so far zero side effects, which is a huge relief. Equally importantly, I’m less hungry than I was on 10mg. Counterintuitive but true. So if hunger starts to strike before Thursday I’ll jab 15mg to top up. If I get to Thursday just fine, I’ll stay on 7.5mg. Which would be nice because that would be six doses from one pen. I have kept it in the fridge just in case!

@NaivePrey you have described so well something I have struggled to articulate. It’s like I’m wearing a fat suit made of foam and I can feel my real body underneath it. This is really weird because although I’ve always been fat, I’ve never been flabby, I had more the Shakespearean “too too solid flesh” which refused to melt! It’s happening from my stomach downwards and it’s weirdly fascinating!

@ToBeOrNotToBee I’m so glad you!re persevered with the shopping and are getting such great surprises! Did you ever think you’d try a size 12 and find it too big? So proud (🥲!)

Pinkyp22 · 17/11/2024 12:52

@Ifyounevergiveup that sounds like a plan. Isn't it funny how people experience different levels of hunger on the higher doses.
I am not hungry on 7.5 but I think I could very easily get more in me that I could on previous doses!
I got 6 injections from my last pen, it was great.

I have tried on a pair of jeans today (Shien so I wouldn't like to guess the actual size) I have had them about 2.5 years, never been able to do them up, come close to it last year when I lost a bit fo weight for my wedding.
Well I can not only do them up, but I now have room 😱

Ifyounevergiveup · 17/11/2024 14:33

@Pinkyp22 wow, how’s that for a NSV! I bet you were over the moon!

Sorry to read this. Have you got any “lifestyle” support with your provider ?

I’m on 5mg and have actually gained weight since starting …very tempted to give up.

Azuresky68 · 21/11/2024 17:41

@Delphigirl @Bakedpumpkin, I'm so sorry to hear about your frustrations and feeling depressed. Does your prescriber offer support? I'm not sure if you are after any advice, but here goes. 1. If you give up, what will your alternative plan be to lose weight? I see MJ as my last resort after trying everything else. 2. Do you know how many calories you can eat to lose weight? 3. Do you track everything you eat and drink? I use the free version of My Fitness Pal. 4. Maybe you have reached a plateau? I don't really know about the theories to do with plateaus, so no good for advice on that one.
Sadly, the injections only work alongside an eating plan by enabling you to eat less. When I first started, I wanted to inject once and wake up at my goal weight! Sorry if the advice is something you know anyway. All the very best and good luck whatever you decide.
