There are so many weight loss injection threads, but I thought I'd start this for anyone feeling a bit deflated by their slower than average loses. It can be disheartening to see others losing multiple lbs per week when it is a slower process for some.

Hello there! Yes, 10mg has been pretty much symptom free. No hunger, no intruding food thoughts, just…serene? Yes, really! I know! Sooo not me. But it’s true. Sailed through my hospital pre assessment today (pending knee operation) and it still seems weird to me that all the clinical staff know I’m on Mj but my nearest and dearest don’t. If anyone has an operation in their future and are worried about what they’ll say, it was basically just “if we give you a week’s notice then don’t take the jab that week as the anaesthetic will leave your system quicker, but if you’re called in at short notice it’s not a deal breaker”. And that was it.

Second 10mg jab tomorrow morning. How are you doing with your complicated click maths? Is everything settling down a bit?

This is amazing news 🎉🎉
Oh good luck for the op

Hi, Mumsnet newbie here. I've been loosing a pound a week when I average it out (started in January this year & have lost 40lb total) which I personally class as slow.
I just increased to 12.5mg Mounjaro & lost 2lb last week (woohoo) so hoping things maybe speeding up.
I've had constipation but seem to be managing to keep that at bay atm & some nausea mostly after my biggest meal of the day; dinner in the evening (reminds me of when I had morning sickness & for me is bearable).
Not even half way there tbh, so I guess slow but steady is the goal.

I got a date! 27 December. And a happy Christmas to one and all!

Through a combination of back to back appointments today I have consumed a grand total of one Grenade protein bar all day. I stress this wasn’t on purpose, just the way things planned out. Point is, it’s now 10pm and I’m not the slightest bit hungry, although obviously I’ll have something now I’m home…220 ish calories all day is not wise under any circumstances, I don’t think. But it’s another indication that 10mg might be my best dose yet…I’ll let you know what the scales say in the morning, since contrary to my expectations I HAVE managed to keep the lurgy pound lost off this week!

Ifyounevergiveup · 17/10/2024 22:14

@GoddessCrone 40lb! That is outstanding however long it’s taken! Well done, that’s a fabulous achievement

Ifyounevergiveup · 18/10/2024 06:44

@Pinkyp22 apparently 220-ish calories isn’t low enough to lose any weight 🤭

SaulHudsonDavidJones · 19/10/2024 16:14

Reporting in to add I'm still losing and gaining the same 2lbs these last couple of weeks. Overall down 2lbs properly since I started. I'm genuinely eating much less, and I feel slimmer, but the scales are so slow to move downwards. I'm hoping 7.5 will do the trick (2 weeks left on 5). It's so disheartening.

Have your eating habits changed much at all? I am still enjoying several glasses of wine a week, a habit I’d hoped to sort out! I have the 7.5 ready in the fridge too. I’m trying not to compare to others and tell myself I am investing in myself. Glad you are feeling slimmer, hopefully the scales will soon catch up.

SaulHudsonDavidJones · 19/10/2024 16:43

@Sadteacher Yes definitely, smaller portions and I'm eating healthier. I haven't had the cravings for junk food which has been a revelation. I'm hoping it's a mixture of period and constipation that has slowed things down and I can have a drop on the scales in the next few days.

SaulHudsonDavidJones · 19/10/2024 16:45

Actually, something that's just occurred to me is that my water intake is really low. Always has been. Could that make much of a difference?

Sadteacher · 19/10/2024 16:46

Definitely worth trying, lots of people mention the benefits of drinking more water!

Azuresky68 · 20/10/2024 22:03

Hi everyone. I hope you are all doing well on the slow road to our goals. 8 weeks now and a weight loss of 12 pounds. I had my first week with no loss, which was disheartening, but it helps to know I am not alone. I have averaged 1000 calories max per day. Great NSV is that my favourite holiday dress fits again..last worn in March this year. I plucked up the courage to use a syringe to get out my first bonus dose out and got 10 mls of 5 mg. I injected about 8 mls, and so far, so good. I completely failed with my first bonus dose as I lost most of it when I primed the syringe. After 4 weeks on 5 mg with horrid side effects, I don't have any now apart from a bit of a headache. Away on Wednesday for a week and planning to continue with around 1000 calories if I can. I haven't drunk alcohol for 38 days, which is probably the longest time in my adult life! After taking the higher bonus dose, I have decided to risk taking 7.5 while I am on holiday... watch this space! Looking forward to hearing how everyone else is doing.

Ifyounevergiveup · 21/10/2024 07:49

Happy Monday, everybody! Update after a ridiculously busy week: 11 stone 3 and a total of 16lb in 16 weeks. Like @Azuresky68 I’m averaging 1000 - 1100 calories a day on a 5’1” frame. So far 10mg is side effect free for me but does seem effective. We’ll see how it lasts as the month goes on; Thursday will be my fourth jab. Hope everybody’s doing well - have a good week!

Well done to you for keeping going. You must be delighted to be 16 pounds down! I guess when I started, I was really impatient to see big losses and wake up at my target overnight! Now I can see a difference I am happy with a pound a week off. So many people say 1000 calories isn't enough....but like you I cant lose weight on more. Have a great week and all the best to everyone 😀

Hi everyone, just back from a weeks holiday in the US and despite being wined and dined I managed to come back the same weight that I left. Phew!

LucyBnotG · 21/10/2024 19:03

@Delphigirl Maintaining the preholiday weight is fantastic. I hope you had a lovely time. Well done. I'm flying to the US next week too, may I ask if you injected while away?

I'm planning on taking my medication with me. I know theoretically I should be fine to take it with my hand luggage, but I am hoping to hear other people's experiences with taking it through security.

Delphigirl · 21/10/2024 19:45

Hi @LucyBnotG , I managed to take an empty pen so only took the bonus dose not a full one. I put it in the hold so didn’t try and take it hand luggage I’m afraid.

Absolutely no problem going through security. It was recommended to take a copy of my prescription, but nobody asked. Maybe take the box that says what it is and that it is for you. I bought a little insulated case with small freezer packs to keep cool in transit. Was on holiday for 2 weeks and still lost weight. Good luck and enjoy your holiday 😀

Azuresky68 · 21/10/2024 21:04

@Delphigirl, great news you did so well in your holiday. I am off for a week on Wednesday, but I am reasonably confident I won't gain as I lost weight in my 2nd and 3rd weeks on MJ whilst on holiday. Still only losing slowly though...about a pound a week and none this week 😪

LucyBnotG · 21/10/2024 21:08

@Delphigirl Thank you anyway. 🙂

@Azuresky68 Thanks for sharing your experience. I'd read all of the guidance but I'm a fusser. As I'm away for 11 days I didn't want to fall so far behind as I have a steady dose pattern now. I have one of the little cases you mentioned and I will definitely take the box. Thank you for suggesting that. Did you keep the needles in the hand luggage?

I'm impressed that you continued to lose on your hols. I'm hoping for a maintain but will make good choices where I can.

Ifyounevergiveup · 21/10/2024 21:11

@Delphigirl hey Delphi, welcome back! You’ve been missed! And to come back to such an achievement; well done!

sundaysunday2024 · 22/10/2024 06:41

I've lost my first stone!

SW 13st 7
CW 12st 6

11 weeks on MJ and I'm happy with progress but my BMI is at 30 now so I need to be careful to choose a supplier that will prescribe under this and with PCOS. I"m still about 2 stone overweight but no longer obese!

Will be looking at Oushk (am also a blue light card holder 😁) because of the maintenance packages. Any other recommendations for BMI 30 or below?

I can finally feel a difference in my body, my belly fat is softer and my face is less puffy. Only problem is that I feel a bit saggy now, definitely becoming jowly in my face and for some reason my c section scar keeps getting irritated?! It's a 5 year old scar so the only reason I can think of is that my clothes or knickers are sitting differently and rubbing the scar 🤦

Azuresky68 · 22/10/2024 08:34

@LucyBnotG completly get why you were being 'a fusser' as I am one too! I only ever travel with hand luggage as I am a frequent flyer. Yes, I took everything in my hand luggage, and they weren't even bothered about checking either on outgoing or incoming flights. The main reason I gain weight is the 'excuse' that I am on holiday, out for a meal, visiting friends or treating myself, so I had to address this otherwise the weight will go back on. The hardest bit was avoiding alcohol.. I felt deprived not drinking but managed not to drink 10 days out of 14. Since I returned, I haven't drunk alcohol for 39 days and not been bothered. I log everything on MFP. I am going for a week All Inclusive in November and the room doesn't have a fridge so I might take it the day I fly and leave the pen at home. I am worried I might have a few drinks on that holiday but will wait and see. I will try and adopt the mindset that eating and drinking too much isn't treating myself at all because I feel upset/low mood every day when I am overweight. Everyone is different, though, so I'm not saying that my approach should apply to anyone else. Enjoy your holiday!

Azuresky68 · 22/10/2024 08:38

@sundaysunday2024 well done on your loss. I swapped to Oushk when I got to 29 BMI for the same reason. They have a great FB support group and full information on their website about maintenance. They also have a forever code of 10% off and other offers come up too. Good luck with everything.

Ifyounevergiveup · 22/10/2024 08:49

@sundaysunday2024 I’ve just used Curate for the first time, after Care told me at the last minute they weren’t prescribing for those with pcos/hypothyroidism any more; my BMI is under 30 and I have both conditions, but my order came through straight away. I chose them simply because they were cheapest that week.

side question about your pcos comment; have there been other suppliers who are also refusing to prescribe if you have that condition? Bloody cheek if so, since millions of women with pcos won’t even know they have it!

LucyBnotG · 22/10/2024 11:24

@Azuresky68 I'm reassured after reading your experience, thank you. If they confiscated it, it's a lot of money to lose. I know what you mean about the excuse. Historically food and wine have been treats for me too and I'm really trying to break that cycle. This is a work trip so there will be times where what I eat isn't all within my control. Such is life. I am also going to take my kitchen scales and buy from the local supermarket to keep up the protein and nutrient dense food where I can. Have drawn the line at taking the bathroom scales though!

I hope you have a lovely trip away too 🙂
