There are so many weight loss injection threads, but I thought I'd start this for anyone feeling a bit deflated by their slower than average loses. It can be disheartening to see others losing multiple lbs per week when it is a slower process for some.

@LucyBnotG it's a prescription medication. Airport security are not in the habit of confiscating prescription medications which could be a matter of life and death for the patient eg if they were diabetic.

I have taken Mounjaro through security. I had the pen in my liquids bag and had the needles and swabs in the box which had a prescription label on it. I didn't have any letter or anything although my orders were on email on my phone.

Nothing happened. No one even asked about it. My Mounjaro pen might as well have been a tube of mascara.

LucyBnotG · 22/10/2024 11:45

@Choux You are correct, and I had read the airport and US travel rules and knew that I was fine to take it with me. I was still feeling a little nervous about it, but feel much more confident in travelling with it now. Thank you for sharing your experience, I appreciate it.

I've really found a difference this week with not craving sugar like I used to. I used sugar and previously caffeine to power through an energy dip. Now, tired but not the same cravings at all.

No success here, lost not a lb!

No success here, lost not a lb!

Hang on in there...I weighed after 7 days..no loss. After 10 days it was 1.5 pounds. Good luck 👍

So I’m just about to start on the 1.7 dose. I’ve gone up each time and therefore have had 12wks so far. I’ve lost 4kg - that’s 0.3kg a week! I’m not really experiencing any hunger reductions. I feel my diet has deteriorated as I only want to eat beige carbs and sweet foods (I used to eat a lot of vegetables). It just feels so expensive now, £260 to lose 1kg, I’m not sure it’s worth it.

QueryA · 24/10/2024 12:50

@Shibr I have similar feeling. I've lost 3.3kg in 9 weeks, so about 0.3kg a week too. I just don't know if its worth the cost. But then I keep telling myself that at least its going down.
There is so much publicity around weight loss injections. It seems to be hailed as a magic bullet. But its still hard work. I'm just trying to focus on the long term and hope that I'm a bit lighter by Christmas. At 0.3kg a week thats another 3 kg by christmas, which is a stone. I know it seems slow but it does mount up.

Glad there is someone else! Well, I wish it was working for you, but you know what I mean!

My friend has lost 10kg in the same time and says she has to force herself to eat in the evenings. Yesterday I had crisps, large cheese baguette, lasagne, a lot of chocolate and three glasses of wine. No real veg to speak of, I just don’t fancy it. I just crave sugar, fat, and carbs. Obviously I know these foods won’t help me to lose weight, but I’m finding it hard to force myself to eat the vegetables I was eating before. I feel like 0.3kg would probably be achieved with a personal trainer and a lot healthier and cheaper than injections and eating crap!

Arraminta · 24/10/2024 18:46

Hello All. I'm usually over on the August startoners thread, but was interested in chatting with others having a slooooow weight loss.

I started at the beginning of August and have lost 18lbs so far. I have no side effects really and am still on 5mg with good suppression, and my sugar cravings have decreased by 90% which is such a relief!

I have just taken my 7th 5mg jab and am toying whether to increase to 7.5mg when I reorder next week? Anyone else found increasing to 7.5mg speed things up?

Sorry it's not working as expected. Are you calorie counting at all or just seeing how it goes with what you fancy on a given day? It's hard if you have the cravings and you're relying on the ozempic to keep them at bay, when it isnt dont that. I wonder if you tried filling up on low carb food, even if you don't fancy it, might start to kick the cravings a little? It's difficult to know what to say to help and you're right, it's a lot of money per month to be spending.

Shibr · 24/10/2024 19:48

Thanks, I’ve been a bit ill recently, and this has meant I cannot be arsed to cook either, which hasn’t helped. It’s just odd that I’ve developed this very sweet tooth, when I’ve never had one before. It feels a bit like when I was pregnant and felt a bit nauseous and reached for the toast/chocolate/crisps. Maybe it’s habit? Thinking I should be eating and do it automatically. I honestly thought it was supposed to get rid of cravings and it hasn’t. Despite the very slow weight loss, I haven’t put it back on, so that’s the only thing I’ve been clinging on to.

Hopefully I’ll feel a bit better soon and up the exercise (I wfh and have been very sedentary), and get back on a healthy eating plan.

Bs0u416d · 24/10/2024 21:19

That is a rough turn of fate that its made you crave those things! Would you consider trying a different medication? I'm having a different experience on mounjaro compared to a previous attempt on semaglutide. I chalked the difference up to tablets vs infections but it might simply be as simple as tirzepatide as worked better for me. Perhaps that might be the case for you.

Ifyounevergiveup · 24/10/2024 22:38

@Arraminta you’re losing a pound and a half a week. That’s a great weight loss, you’re doing really well! @Shibr i must admit my initial reaction was the same as @Bs0u416d , thinking maybe you’d be better off on different medication. But (and I hope this doesn’t sound harsh, it’s not meant to) I think you need to hang on until you’re feeling better and you can concentrate on eating the right things in the right amounts. Your food list from yesterday was…surprising! If that’s what you’re craving while you’re not well, fair enough, but it would be asking a lot to lose weight too. Fingers crossed you feel better soon and can concentrate on eating what you need ❤️

Shibr · 24/10/2024 23:03

Thanks both. Yes, I guess it’s only been three months, but I was expecting more. I’m on Wegovy and I know others have had a lot of success, but maybe I’m giving it too much credit in thinking it will calm the cravings. Yes, I agree @Ifyounevergiveup usually I like some comforting carbs or a soup when I’m not well (it’s been a few weeks now and it’s just a crappy viral infection), but it’s the sugar cravings in the last three months that have really surprised me when I’ve not felt them before. I know I’m a sucker for cheese/crisps/etc, but never chocolate. I think after this dose, I’ll go up to the final one and that should take me until Christmas. I will evaluate them and try not to think about the money - unless I don’t lose anymore and turns out I’ve spent £1k on losing 4kg, then I’ll definitely quit!!

headshoulderskneestoesheart · 25/10/2024 23:25

I've been losing an average of 1.8 pounds a week for 17 weeks - some weeks 2 pounds, some weeks 1 or none. This week, without doing anything differently, 5 pounds gone! I'm gobsmacked. No idea why after 4 months suddenly my body has decided to release so much so quickly, but I'm certainly not complaining (nor expecting a repeat!)

Azuresky68 · 26/10/2024 19:02

Hi all. Hope you are feeling positive right now. On week 9 (I think) 2 pens 1. 2.5 x4 weeks 2 5 mg x4 weeks awful side effects then a bonus dose which was nearly 7.5 then first dose from 7.5. Lost 13 pounds so far, this included 2 weeks on holiday. 39 days with no alcohol. Last time I drank was on my 2 weeks holiday in September..4 days when I had a drink and 10 days not drinking. Now half way through a weeks holiday and haven't been eating too much at all. All healthy choices and around 1200 calories a day. Today I drank 2 and a half pints of lager and a small glass of wine...which I really enjoyed butnow feeling really guilty!! Just needing a bit of support please x

Azuresky68 · 26/10/2024 19:08

@headshoulderskneestoesheart well done
..such a bonus after being a slow loser ...keep on going!

Azuresky68 · 26/10/2024 19:10

@Ifyounevergiveup how are you doing....not seen you on here for a while!

Oh Azure, there’s no need to feel guilty about a couple of drinks when you’re on holiday! It makes me wonder if we’re so used to feeling guilt that we feel a kind of gap when it’s gone. You know what you’re having? A normal life! How cool is that? The weight’s coming off and you’re living life as it should be lived. Well done you! As for me, I’m keeping on with my usual pound a week but they add up to 1 stone 2lb now. I’m wearing clothes I haven’t had on in eight years and I’m aiming to be 10 stone something by Christmas. All this would have been inconceivable before Mj came along. Hurrah for science!

Azuresky68 · 27/10/2024 07:43

@Ifyounevergiveup thanks for absolving me from my guilt ...your response was just what I needed x I am pretty similar to you in that generally lose a pound a week so it's 13 pounds now after 4 weeks on 2.5, 4 weeks on 5 mg and 2 weeks on 7 (my bonus dose on 5 mg was 7.5 when I used a syringe) so a total of 9 weeks plus my four holiday days so far. I have just over a stone to go to get to my goal..which is a couple of pounds over recommended healthy BMI. So I could be nearly there by Christmas but I reckon that even if I am 8 pounds lighter I will be very happy. I am going to see nearer the time what to do during and after Christmas and how I am going to maintain. After 68 years I really want this to be the last weight loss journey and reach my final destination! Good luck to all as always!

Sadteacher · 27/10/2024 09:13

@Azuresky68 I am at the same stage as you exactly, 13lbs and on my 7.5 pen.
I feel a bit guilty throwing away my bonus dose with my pens so far but just feel the sooner I lose the weight the quicker I can stop altogether! Luckily no side effects.
I do, however, still have wine every single day. Shows what a habit it is.
Had my first holiday last week and had a few sleepless nights as I’d eaten and drank too much but only put a pound on with came off as soon as I got home.
Cant wait for the first ‘stone’ celebration!

Azuresky68 · 27/10/2024 13:20

@Sadteacher I messed up my first bonus dose on 2.5 but bonus dose on 5 mg was equivalent to 7.5 anyway. When I finish 7.5 I will do the bonus dose and if not enough will top up to 10 mg with clicks from new pen and maybe won't have to go any further. 7.5 mg seems to give good suppression though. When I first started on 2.5 I was on holiday for 2 weeks and still lost. I haven't had the urge to drink when not on holiday, but today I have had 1 glass of wine instead of lunch! Hoping to maintain or lose this week. The test will be a weeks All Inclusive in November! NSV today was that a dress I bought earlier this year before I added on a stone to my scales now fits me again ..happy days!

Sadteacher · 27/10/2024 13:35

@Azuresky68 Weirdly, I was thinking on holiday that All Inclusive would actually have been easier! I was buying meals in restaurants which I couldn’t finish even half of - if on AI I could have filled my plate with salad and lighter bits.
Hope you enjoyed your liquid lunch!

Azuresky68 · 27/10/2024 13:45

@Sadteacher I think the food will be OK but I will be tempted to drink more. My DP has cut back on drinking due to meds he is on for life so that has helped me not have one too many (my downfall in the past) On MJ I have not been drinking at all when at home or at local pub and it hasn't bothered me but in holiday it's a tricky one! But I feel so happy with my 13 pounds loss and NSV I am very motivated right now.
