There are so many weight loss injection threads, but I thought I'd start this for anyone feeling a bit deflated by their slower than average loses. It can be disheartening to see others losing multiple lbs per week when it is a slower process for some.

I've lost 1.5kg in my first month on Wegovy, after 11kg in 10months on my own. I've not experienced any appetite suppression so far and just continuing with following Noom at around 1400cals and exercising 4/5 times a week.

Ifyounevergiveup · 30/09/2024 08:06

@MooFroo would you be happy to share a bit more info? For example, whether you’ve tried to lose in the past, how much weight you have to lose, how many calories you’re eating now you’ve started tracking (a brilliant move, btw)? That will give us some context. Interesting that you’re diabetic (sorry, interesting is probably very much the wrong word to use…it’s early!), I don’t recall seeing any messages from anyone saying that and (not a doctor alert) maybe if you have proven insulin resistance things will go slower as the meds have more of a challenge. You’ll have seen from this thread that that’s definitely true of us PCOS women, who are highly likely to be insulin resistant. But it is working for all of us, albeit slowly. Have faith!

Delphigirl · 01/10/2024 08:04

Hi everyone,
well I have been static for a week, despite being at the end of my first 10 pen. Very frustrating. It has been a particularly sedentary week work wise (and otherwise if I am honest - soooo much rain) but I have been eating very little so it is really disappointing. Anyway. Onwards and upwards. Maybe I will suddenly drop a couple of pounds if I start moving more.

DropOfffArtiste · 01/10/2024 10:54

Started to lose a little bit. I think I really need to stick to max 1400 cal even with exercise. I had been lulled into thinking I could lose at 1600 and I just don't. Still feeling hungry though, wegovy hasn't made any difference so far.

Hi @Ifyounevergiveup of course :)

SW - 196lbs -3 August
CW- 190lbs -2 October 😩

have does various things in the past inc Cambridge, IF but not stuck to anything for long enough if I’m honest.

have had an awful diet for last few years with so much takeaway and junk food - it’s crazy now looking back!

Gone from a size 14 to 18-20 - it’s slowly crept up and since I work from home really easy to hide and try to ignore it.

Have bouts of exercise so was doing daily steps but can’t stick to anything and not done many in the last few weeks.

Have started swimming again recently and joined a couple of yoga classes at the gym - have booked a session next week with instructor to focus on weights and put together a programme for me

Eating sooo much healthier than I used to a few months ago even pre mounjaro - had cut out biccies, chocolates, onot occasional crisps now, no alcohol and no fizzy drinks and hardly any take away food.

I’m close to 50 and am deffo peri menopausal with low iron and low vit D - taking vitamins most days for these

have focused more on protein in my diet now - lots of eggs, salmon, cottage cheese etc but still need to track better and monitor and change up as I go

hopefully that’s gives a better picture so happy for any feedback or comments x

Ifyounevergiveup · 02/10/2024 10:27

@MooFroo what an honest post! And I suspect as you were writing it you were thinking, there’s a pattern here…! First off, you’ve lost half a stone in six weeks. So you’re doing the right thing. And you’re making all the right changes to keep things going. More protein works. I don’t like to admit it, being a carbs girl, but it does keep you fuller for longer. Remember white fish and shellfish if you can tolerate them…huge protein source for tiny calories. You sound as if exercise is already in hand but start building in more walking…my golden rule is PFA (park further away!). It’s not going to fall off in big bumps if you have relatively little to lose (some starters have hundreds of pounds to go) and since your body has experienced dieting before…it’s cunningly waiting you out, expecting you to give up again. But you’re not going to! Hurrah!

You are at the start of a brilliant return to your size 14 clothes. Hope you kept them! Keep us posted as you go on.

My nsv today; I am 30% muscle for the first time (another reason to keep going with the protein!). Have a good day, everyone!

ToBeOrNotToBee · 02/10/2024 10:36

Well September was a bit of a weird one. Weight loss stalled completely and I was clinging to the same 2lbs over and over.
My clothes were better fitting, but scales not moving and it was frustrating no end.
I'm now size 12 clothes. For the first time ever.
According the the NHS I still have over 1.5 stone to lose before being healthy weight and honestly, I don't think I want to be. I'd be skeletal!
I'm one week into 10mg and for the first time I'm feeling side effects that have made me feel rotten. Feeling fluey, achey, migraines, feeling faint when rising. I'm hoping they lessen somewhat because its not very pleasant.

LeafUsAlone · 02/10/2024 18:34

I'd just like to repoint out that many of us here do have many many stones to lose, and are still losing slowly. The journey is different for everyone - just dont want this thread to only become a safe space for slow losers with small amounts to go, that's the only reason I'm mentioning this again.
Safe space for all slow losers!!

@Ifyounevergiveup how are you

Absolutely, we're all in different places! I have about double that to go. I just feel the discourse was slightly veering towards the number on the scales being a reason for the slower journey and wanted to highlight that isnt always the case.

@LeafUsAlone @Pinkyp22 hi guys! Sorry if the conversation has got skewed, I’m overidentifying. I have two and a bit stone left to lose and still feel dumb about assuming everyone was about the same and feeling like a failure as a result. Entirely my bad, slow losses are bloody frustrating for everybody. I say this with feeling as I’m still losing as slowly as ever, 13 pounds down in 14 weeks but as I said earlier, getting better body proportions even though the weight isn’t shifting. Under 30BMI and 30% muscle, 43% fat when I started at 49%. So all the other numbers are going in the right direction and I’m trying not to get hung up on the only number which isn’t behaving!

LeafUsAlone · 02/10/2024 21:58

@Ifyounevergiveup please don't apologise!! My intention wasn't to exclude or make anyone feel unwelcome at all, and that's my bad if it came across in any way accusatory. Absolutely all slow losers welcome!!

You've done so well though rationalising slow and steady losses, and never giving up - you've kept me sane many weeks.

I don't feel a loss this week but then I didn't last week or the week before 👀
Im still not really feeling any hunger on the 6.25 dose. Ive got my bonus dose to take tomorrow, ill see what the scales say if its no loss ill go to 6.5

Someone commented on my weight loss at uni this week, rateher uncomfortable as it was Infront of the whole class 🙄 they obviously meant well asking if I'd lost weight but I've avoided any subject of conversation about weight or particularly my weight for many years so it was quite embarrassing especially Infront of others.

QueryA · 03/10/2024 08:18

Grindingly slow here. I’m on week 6 and it’s not shifting any faster than it would on a normal diet- less than an lb a week. And I’m not really finding any effect. I can still eat largish meals if I want to/opportunity arises. And I still get cravings, I succumbed to a brownie in Lidl last night. The only thing I’ve noticed is that alcohol doesn’t agree with me. I had 2 glasses of wine the other night and I felt reallly sick the following morning. But as the symptoms werent when I was drinking it, it didn’t stop me having the second glass. Sigh.
Im really wondering why I’m shelling out all this money. Anyway I’ll keep on. Hopefully will have lost something more by Christmas!

Ifyounevergiveup · 03/10/2024 09:36

@QueryA keep going, Query! I too felt very little effect until I got to 7.5mg. I’ve just had my fifth dose this morning and my next pen will definitely be a 10mg as hunger pangs were back by last night. Some people are just more responsive than others. I would love to see research trying to explain why…for example, whether a cohort with hypothyroidism lost more or less than a PCOS cohort or a type 2 diabetes cohort (pick your hormonal issue!), and how those groups compared with a group whose weight was their only health issue…it would be interesting, for sure.

Pinkyp22 · 03/10/2024 09:41

I find I could definitely over indulge if I really wanted to / the urge got me
Whereas on 5 Mg I could hardly eat anything
I could still drink how i used to untill the tail end of 5,mg, now I can only have one or two of something otherwise I feel hungover the next day
There must be an element of it building up in your system

I have pcos and hypothyroidism. I'm very happy with my weight loss, yes, its slower than most, but it's coming off and I feel better than ever.

I've not been on the thread for a bit as I've been a bit disillusioned with my progress, but my net loss since June is now at 8kg (aware I still have a lot to lose, at least another 20kg/3 stone).

I'm now into my second week of 12.5mg, and the nausea is the worst it has ever been. I'm eating next to nothing during the day and having one small meal at dinner, almost at sparrow portions. Protein water has been my friend. If I were anyone else I'd probably have at least 20kg off by now!

But on we go 😃

Ifyounevergiveup · 03/10/2024 18:13

@knackeredcat “if I were anyone else…” that’s EXACTLY what I was thinking today! It just seems so unfair. However (and this may just be me) I’m very rarely hungry on Mj, I tend to eat because I should rather than because I really need to. So actually, you could argue that it’s not unfair, because I can eat whenever I like.

what I can’t do is eat WHATEVER I like! - and when I have a pet lip on, that’s why. I grizzle because everyone else can have a piece of cake without having to mentally calculate how many calorie quids they have left in the daily Bank of Food. But that said, in my drinking days I could drink grown men under the table and never ever got a hangover. I guess I’ve had the benefit of that, so it evens out in the end? But still…grrr….!

Pinkyp22 · 03/10/2024 18:28

Very interesting listen, I have struggled to reach the high protien targets people suggest is needed, and I've focused on proper protien rich foods, cant stand the shakes and powders.
This suggests too much protien can feed PCOS insulin resistance 😵👀
Now I'm glad I havnt bothered

Hello everyone..needed a bit of comfort, so I came back to the thread and read all the updates. I think everyone is being very brave by sharing their ups and downs and the frustration of trying so hard, yet still being slow losers. Thanks for being here. If I was doing this alone I would somehow blame myself that I was losing so slowly 🐌 yet I know that I have tracked everything very carefully. I have got to the stage where I feel guilty if I eat more than 1000 calories..been mainly eating an average of 900 and eating healthy. To be in a calorie deficit, I can only eat 1000 cals, and my maintenance calories are around 1370. I have been weighing daily, which is something I said I wouldn't do. My official weigh day is Saturday, and unless there is a miracle, I won't have lost this week. Today, I went to zumba class - the first time since before lockdown, and then I did a hilly 10000 step walk. I'm not giving up because there is no other alternative .. I have tried everything else, and this is my last option. Thanks for being here, and let's be strong together ❤️

Hi there, I do understand the frustration, I'm on 12.5mg and have lost 6kg since June, 1lb per week. Just keep doing what you're doing and try to trust the process. My weight hasn't shifted all that much but I am starting to look very different.
If it wasn't for the MJ community I would have given up by now, instead I'm still plodding on, have lost over 17% of my starting weight in 7 months and have dropped from BMI 35.1 to 29.1. Slow but steady and totally worth every penny so far (have had to tighten my belt elsewhere and making the most of a 0% credit card).
