There are so many weight loss injection threads, but I thought I'd start this for anyone feeling a bit deflated by their slower than average loses. It can be disheartening to see others losing multiple lbs per week when it is a slower process for some.

Sorry all, I posted the message above in the wrong thread, it was meant for the August starters. 😔

SnacklessWonder · 14/09/2024 12:33

I am SO hungry today, belly proper rumbling. Jab day tomorrow and my first 5mg. Feeling ready for it.

CormorantStrikesBack · 14/09/2024 14:12

@Azuresky68 , welcome from a fellow shortie. It’s so unfair that us short people essentially get less calories to eat per day! Wish I was a foot taller. 😁

weighed myself today and lost 0.5kg overnight so maybe the last few days of being stationary on the scales has resulted in a sudden drop! Helped by my 800 calorie day yesterday. Due my 2nd jab of 12.5mg tomorrow.

Ifyounevergiveup · 14/09/2024 19:37

@Azuresky68 @CormorantStrikesBack we short arses have to stick together. If 700 calories a day is what it takes then so be it. And welcome, Azure, we’re here for you! - and you’re right, I dread thinking how much money I’ve spent losing the same pound over and over again with SW.

@Pinkyp22 fancy you feeling a bit hungry! You must be on the mend. I just love your champagne plan…I was out for lunch today, you’ll recall. I found myself having pulled pork and beef brisket with sweetcorn. No carbs and no cravings for any. Can’t remember the last time I ate out and had no bread, but honestly if anything makes me feel icky at the minute it’s the thought of carbs in any form…all my favourites, pasta, white bread etc…most odd. I filled up quickly, didn’t finish the dish and a pudding didn’t even occur to me. I am aware I’m starting to sound like those lucky creatures on the main thread so (type it in tiny letters) do you think it might be starting to work?!

love to everyone, I’m off to put on my sequins and watch Strictly x

Ifyounevergiveup · 14/09/2024 19:39

@SnacklessWonder ooh! Of course it’s your 5mg day tomorrow! All will be well. Keep us up to date. Hopefully at the very least your hunger will disappear!

Azuresky68 · 14/09/2024 22:48

@CormorantStrikesBack @Ifyounevergiveup thanks for your support and understanding about the challenge of calories for shortarses like us 😅 only consolation is that half a stone weight loss certainly shows. According to the NHS BMI calculator I should be between 6 stone 8 pounds and 8 stone 11 pounds 😱😅...my lowest was 7 stone 12 and highest around 14 stone. I will be happy with 9 stone 👍

Azuresky68 · 15/09/2024 07:25

Anyone a member of Weight Loss Injection Support FB group UK? There was an interesting live last night by Hira, an Oushk pharmacist. It is till on FB page to watch back. They have a forum (think it's on Oushk website) where you can ask questions without being a customer of theirs. She gave some good advice and spoke about their maintenance programme which is worth knowing about. Also spoke about dosage which was interesting. As a new starter I have been on the forums/threads a lot but am going to try and limit to a weekly look along with a weekly weigh in. Have a great week everyone and good luck. All the best going up to 5 dosage @SnacklessWonder

I managed to get through yesterday, so still in control of my hunger! And on the scales today I was 10st 7.6lb so that's a whole stone down in a month which I cannot grumble at, at all, though a fair chunk of that was the first two weeks. I think it will really slow down now - I can't see me losing 2-2.5lbs a week as my weight gets lower.

Interesting to see what 5mg does for me. I am really hoping it works well because I'd ideally like to stay around that level if I can as once I get another stone down I intended to stop MJ altogether.

Challenging two weeks coming up as I have a lot of work travel, meals out and 'drinks' etc so I'm not really in control but will try to minimise damage as much as possible.

Azuresky68 · 15/09/2024 09:40

@SnacklessWonder well done..a stone in a month is fantastic. You must be seeing the difference? We are around the same weight and I am aiming for 9 stone. At the end of my first 3 weeks, I have lost 5.5 pounds, but I was on holiday 2 of those. There was no big weight loss for me at the beginning as I was already tracking calories around 1400. My only hope is 1000 calories or less. Good luck while you are away. We can do it 👍

CormorantStrikesBack · 15/09/2024 09:56

Well my size 18 jeans which a few months ago were a bit tight are now too big. I bought a size 14 top and a medium top yesterday .

think I’ve gone from a size 18 to a size 14/16 which is good.

CormorantStrikesBack · 15/09/2024 09:57

Well done on the weight loss @SnacklessWonder . A stone in a month is amazing.

Pinkyp22 · 15/09/2024 10:36

@SnacklessWonder I wish I had stayed on 5mg! Glad to hear your doing on it

@Ifyounevergiveup I have woken up feeling so muxh better and more myself today 🎉 also starving but I did have an extended lie in, over 2 hours past my usual wake up time so that may be why , unheard of for me so I must have really needed it, thank god I have a teenager to get breakfast for not a toddler! Perhaps a combination of mounjaro and illness totally wiped me out, who knows.
Just wanted to thank you for all your sound advise and ideas this week, I did feel like throwing a tantrum and throwing in the towel at one point 😎

Something is really really annoying me though, I have 100% gone off my favourite red wine, literally not enjoyable 😱. I guess its no bad thing but jeeze I'd like to enjoy something occasionally

Ifyounevergiveup · 15/09/2024 10:50

@Azuresky68 @SnacklessWonder @CormorantStrikesBack @Pinkyp22 OMG have a look at today’s posts. I think we may just have answered our own question (with a little help from my Mj supplier, who has replied to my “does anyone just not lose weight” email).

We are all at the same place according to this morning’s coincidental posts! Relatively little to lose (by which I don’t mean to be rude, it’s just a lot of Mj takers on the main thread have been very open about having hundreds of pounds to lose). Earlier on the thread, we’ve heard that at least two of us have hormonal issues which slow down weight loss (in my case, PCOS and an underactive thyroid). And the answer from my provider was that anecdotally they do see much slower weight loss from people who have less to lose; they said it was one of the things they were interested in when they first started providing Mj, whether everyone would lose weight at the same rate with medical assistance. They don’t.

Perversely this makes me feel better. It never occurred to me that people trumpeting their joy (good on them) about losing stones in months might have a lot to lose.

It also occurred to me this morning that if Mumsnet didn’t exist, I wouldn’t know about them and I’d be over the moon with a consistent pound a week weight loss!

I wouldn’t be without this particular thread but I’ve already stopped checking in on the main one and I’m going to continue that. I’ve been assuming we’re all facing about the same size challenge, which was both stupid of me and self defeating. Now I’m just going to plough my own furrow with the help of my fellow slow horses! Thanks for setting up the thread, @LeafUsAlone ; it’s turning out to be even more important and useful to me than the original.

LeafUsAlone · 10/07/2024 23:55

@knackeredcat it is so disheartening. I would give higher doses a try though if you're able to stay on. For me the full on appetitie suppression didnt kick until week 16, and I wonder if this might be the case for more people but some (very understandably) stop injecting before they reach that point if theyre not seeing the losses they expected.
I agree with @littlemousebigcheese that the drugs are touted as being miracle cures that will wick away the unwanted pounds and you'll be slim in no time - but the reality is quite different, and especially for those of us with a lot more to lose. Ive had many weeks where Ive felt dejected and even had a little cry because I felt that, once again, I was failing. But we all react so differently, and maybe your body needs more time to let the weight go. I think sometimes the body can hold onto weight if it feels food intake has been sporadic or insufficient for it's needs, so it might take more time to trust that you will keep feeding yourself (that sounds a bit jumbled and like hocus pocus, but I think there is some truth in it - our bodies aren't machines afterall)

I hope tomorrow brings a better day for us all <unmumsnetty hugs>

@LeafUsAlone I was rereading and saw this post; this is another thing my Mj supplier said, that some bodies spot what we’re up to (trying to lose) more quickly than others and do try to hold on exactly as you describe. You were bang on!

CormorantStrikesBack · 15/09/2024 11:43

@Ifyounevergiveup yes your point about the big losses may well be from people with a lot to lose is true. I’d be happy if I lost another 6kg to be honest. So I’m nearly two thirds there with a 10kg (well 9.8) already.

Ifyounevergiveup · 15/09/2024 11:52

Hurrah hurrah! I shall try to be not far behind you! (Mind you, not that close either… I’m aiming for another two stone or so). Chaaaarge!

Pinkyp22 · 15/09/2024 13:38

I buck the trend I'm afraid I am a giant 😂😩 5ft 9, still have 30kg to lose to even be in the higher end of my "ideal weight / healthy BMI 😨😬
Quite a depressing thought considering Ive lost 19lbs in 10 weeks 😑
Perhaps being off the wine isn't such a bad thing

Ifyounevergiveup · 15/09/2024 14:00

@Pinkyp22 but Pinky, lovely Pinky, you’re losing two pounds a week! Every week! You’re doing a fabulous job, wine or no wine!

ps I always wanted to be taller. You can’t be particularly elegant when you’re the height of a pit pony.

SnacklessWonder · 15/09/2024 14:42

@Azuresky68 I definitely feel less bloated and I think she can see it in my face. I bought a dress in two sizes for an event this week. Normally I'd be in the Size 14, probably edging towards 16. This time the Size 12 looks better - still a bit snug on the boobs but perfectly acceptable and there's no point buying the 14 when I intend to lose at least another stone. However even when I lose that stone, I'll probably remain a Size 12. I think I have to get down to 8.5 stone to get to around a 10 and I don't intend to go that far as it's too much for me to try and maintain.

@Ifyounevergiveup I think you're right - we know the more you have to lose the 'easier' it is to drop larger amounts, that's true of any diet. Overall I think I am trying to lose around 34lbs - it's bound to come over in slower drops than someone who has 200lbs to lose. However, there's will also slow down when they get closer to goal and potentially I think that can be more demotivating if you've been used to losing a steady 3-4lbs a week and it starts to dwindle to 0.5-1lb a week...

Any suggestions on suppliers this month? I know medexpress price match but they use Royal mail who are totally unreliable in my area. Have found a zava code, anyone used them?

Zava also use royal mail I'm afraid. I've been using them because of discount codes but they are quite unpredictable about how long they take to prescribe and despatch, which is a pain when yiu have to be in to sign. They also don't support maintenance, which is still a way off for me.

I’ve only used med express and the delivery has been fine actually. Must vary by area.

Its the royal mail here that are a pain
My last order did come chilled... Just. The icr packs had melted but we're still cold thank god.
They send a messege to say they will deliver between 08.30-11.30 then turn up at 5.30 most of the time 🙄 which obviously could make all the difference to cold medication. I guess the temperature has dropped significantly though so I should be ok.

Ashcroft pharmacy are the cheapest, however charge. 9.95 for postage...... Via the Royal mail 😐

Ifyounevergiveup · 16/09/2024 08:16

@Pinkyp22 Care Pharmacy charge £159.99 for 7.5mg and no postage, but again they’re Royal Mail 😬

Edited to say I use them because they despatch the next day without fail in my experience. You hear some awful stories about pens not turning up for days; at least with Care I can wait until a day before I need the pen and then decide what strength I want, rather than having to guess!
