Slow losers club! (Ozempic, wegovy, mountjaro etc)

There are so many weight loss injection threads, but I thought I'd start this for anyone feeling a bit deflated by their slower than average loses. It can be disheartening to see others losing multiple lbs per week when it is a slower process for some.

In theory even if the ice packs aren't icy cold it should be fine unless we're in the middle of a heatwave.

If your Mounjaro pen was left out of the fridge but at room temperatures not exceeding 86 degrees Fahrenheit for up to 21 days, you can use your medication normally. If the medication remains unrefrigerated for more than 21 days, the active ingredients can start to break down, making it less effective.

Official weigh-in day for me today -

SW 11st 7.8lb
CW 10st 7.6lb
GW 9st 4.0lb (but may go lower as will still be at the higher end of healthy BMI)

So 1st 0.2lb loss in 5 weeks. That was on 4 x 2.5mg doses, 1 x 3.33mg dose.

Took my first 5mg dose at about 5pm yesterday, so far so good!

Pretty sure I'm the slowest loser here. But I'm half a pound down this week. Will always be happy with a loss no matter how small. I'm at my lowest weight in a decade and celebrated by buying myself a few new clothes. But necessary when even my drawstring waist trousers are falling down 😁

StaySpicy · 16/09/2024 13:11

I'm slow, too, @nomorecheddar - in 21 weeks I've lost 16lbs, so less than 1lb a week. I'm looking at some people here who've lost the same amount of weight in far less time and am wondering why they're on this thread! I guess slow is relative, like most things. But I want you to know you're not the only one who is losing really slowly! 🙂

I have lost half of that in the same time frame. I think we need a super slow loser thread maybe! 😄

Choux · 16/09/2024 14:47

I think this thread attracts anyone who thinks they aren't losing weight as fast as they would like. And, after years of being overweight, yo yo diets and whatever else most of us are impatient to finally see the weight gone so almost all of us think we belong in the slow losers club!

This! Absolutely! It’s all in the mind…

You said your 16s were a little loose last time we heard from you, so no wonder! You should be so proud of yourself x

NoMoreCheddar · 16/09/2024 15:57

Thanks @Ifyounevergiveup

I admit I feel a wee bit down when I see other's numbers compared to mine. I have PCOS and weight has been a tremendous battle for me most of my life. If nothing else the wegovy makes me a bit happier as with the food noise switched off, I feel less frustrated. So I'm happy to stay on it for another year if that's what it takes for me to get to my goal weight.

Shibr · 16/09/2024 16:22

@NoMoreCheddar

How long did it take you for the food noise to switch off? I’m on week 7 and I can’t stop eating and all I want to eat is crap which is unlike me. I thought it would have calmed down by now, but I’ve just mindlessly eaten a massive bag of buttons and am still hungry! I feel like I’m paying a lot of money to develop an addiction to junk food!!

Ifyounevergiveup · 16/09/2024 16:26

@NoMoreCheddar see, there’s another pattern in the slow losers club…that’s at least three of us have PCOS. And it does make it so hard. I know you’re a Wegovy star, rather than on Mj, but you’re also a long way up the dosages…and we other two PCOS people (that I know of) who are both on Mj have each taken a long time even to start to feel side effects. From what I understand, PCOS makes the body hang on to fat much more efficiently than in other people, so it makes sense to me that our bodies will fight a weight loss drug harder and more effectively. The thing I’m not doing at all with Mj is getting the rebound weight. You know, when you loosen the reins a bit and put on 10lb in a week where everyone else gains two? And then it takes months and months to lose it again? I might be losing slowly, but for the first time in my life (and I mean that literally, diets for me started at the age of 10) I’m losing consistently. So I know what you mean about less frustration.

I felt it go away for the first couple of weeks on every dose, from the start up. But after a few weeks the noise would come back. It was only when I got to 1.7 on Wegovy (second highest dose) that it went away and stays away for around 8 days. On day 9 I know if I don't take my weekly dose it creeps back in and I end up reaching for the crisps!

Shibr · 16/09/2024 16:47

@NoMoreCheddar

Ok, so I’ve got a while to go, I’m only on 0.5. Just a bit disappointed I guess with everyone having lost loads. I have barely lost a kilo! I will persevere, I find it hard to eat healthy food when on it, I always want to reach for crisps or chocolate, whereas before I would eat very healthy food, just too much!!

Pinkyp22 · 16/09/2024 16:51

Yes I am in the PCOS camo as well 😩

I agree @NoMoreCheddar First tine in my entire existence I can actually get through a day without my every waking thought being about food, what food I can have as a treat, and then feeling so much guilt at what ive binge eaten

I can have breakfast, lunch and dinner and dont need to eat anything else

Ifyounevergiveup · 16/09/2024 16:58

@Pinkyp22 didn’t want to out you as a fellow sufferer but thought you might join!

Looks like we’ve both found a bit more joy from a 7.5 dose…we have to survive two days of ick then the other five are fine!

Pinkyp22 · 16/09/2024 17:18

@Ifyounevergiveup
Im approaching 40 but the PCOS is still ever present 😒
I have had 6.25 so far, I think I will just keep it at that this week, I am feeling well and a lot less fatigue, still tired but less so, appetite suppression is great, few hunger pangs I can deal with no problem and no food noise. See if I have had a loss Friday to determine next dosage but I my body seems happier with 6.25

New dilemma, medexpress or care Pharmacy for next pen 🙄 I will have to order end of this week in the hope its delivered next Monday or Tuesday when my husband is in

Ifyounevergiveup · 16/09/2024 17:25

@Pinkyp22 are you that far along the doses? I thought you’d just taken your second? I’ve never used medexpress, but you’ve got plenty of time with Care; they do next day delivery if you order by 3pm. They’ve never let me down, it’s the main reason I use them.

LeafUsAlone · 16/09/2024 18:42

PCOS here as well! 'Slow' is definitely relative in this regard! @NoMoreCheddar I found I noticed a difference in my shape before I noticed any real difference on the scales!

Well no ive got 2 doses plus bonus, and will probably have a fair bit left over if I don't use the 7.5 but I like to be prepared
And I work Mon-Fri so not able to be home for delivery, I have to time it for when my husbands home which is not the sane eveey week! I guess I can leave it another week.
What was it like for initial consultation with care pharmacy?

Yes that's more obvious for me too. I finally have a waist again. I felt like a cylindrical fat sausage for many years as I had no waist hardly at all.

Ifyounevergiveup · 16/09/2024 20:02

@Pinkyp22 the consult was fine, usual photo of the scales but that’s it. I’m just trying to think back but I’m sure they’re the only supplier I’ve tried as they seem to be reasonably priced without the faff of codes etc.

Ifyounevergiveup · 16/09/2024 20:03

@LeafUsAlone ha! That’s four of us! That’s definitely a trend now!

pretalmondcroissants · 16/09/2024 20:19

Hello all.

I think I might be a slow loser, but it’s hard to tell at this stage. I very stupidly (accidentally, it was in no way on purpose, I don’t know what got into me) have myself three doses of 2.5 Mounjaro for my first dose. I’d never injected myself with anything before and I somehow had in mind that I’d be able to feel it. It was so easy that I thought it hadn’t gone in so I did it again. And again.

And of course, I was massively sick and had loads of side effects. I lost half a stone in that first week. But in the week since I’ve lost nothing at all. And I’m not eating much at all. I’m ok with slow loss, but to lose nothing is a bit of a shame!

I have to have two weeks off in total before giving myself another dose (the 2.5 left in my pen).

I’m hoping to join you when I’m properly on track.

Hi, another slow loser with PCOS here 👋

SW 13'7
Currently 13'0

I've been on MJ for 7 weeks, lost 7lb in total but seem to keep losing and putting on the same lb each week. It's my 3rd week on 5mg and the suppression has really tailed off.

I'm still reading back through the thread but wondered if anyone has found 7.5 worked better? Very few side effects for me so far though on the positive side!

Ifyounevergiveup · 16/09/2024 20:52

@pretalmondcroissants oh dear, I definitely shouldn’t smile, you must have felt absolutely atrocious! You must also have been a bit scared both before (thinking it was going to hurt) and after (realising what you’d done). But you’re on track now. Do you know about the main thread? That gives people a huge amount of info and support in the early days. You’re welcome here too of course, but let’s hope your weight starts to drop once your body gets over the shock!

Hello dear heart, have a read back if you get the chance and you’ll see we PCOS ladies get about a pound a week at best. Two of us definitely only got real side effects at 7.5mg but it does seem finally to be kicking in for both of us at that dose. Well done for sticking it out (and paying the money. Not funny when you’re not losing.) and welcome to the slow losers! - it’s more fun than it sounds 😆
