@Berlioze my smart watch shows 1351 cals burnt today, nearly 7pm. Admittedly, I didn’t work, so only did 3,000 steps at home and in Sainsbury’s. The commute usually adds up to 10,000 steps a day.

I also want to get into good habits, as otherwise this will have been just another- v expensive- fad. I don’t know how smart my smart watch is in telling me calories burnt. I rarely go much over 2000, which is why I try and keep a calorie deficit of 500 a day. I’ve had my 4th injection this morning. I’ve been surprisingly peckish, though this may be because I was at home and close to food.

Be careful, smart watches tend to to overestimate somewhere between 40-80% so more likely you've actually burned between 750-1000

LadyWithLapdog · 05/03/2024 19:23

Oh no!! Would explain a lot!

Cuzco · 05/03/2024 20:46

Whilst I'm very conscious of needing to find a sustainable healthy eating regime (having lost lots of weight and put it all on before!) at the mo, I'm just concentrating on losing anything I can. It is on my mind, but I'm not going to worry... yet.

Berlioze · 05/03/2024 21:10

You need to make sure your smart watch app has updated details re your current weight. That's the only way to work out your base rate of calories burnt (and this is fairly accurate). What is burnt in addition to this can be inaccurately estimated. It depends on how accurate your device is and what you do (for example some watches mistakenly record hand and arm movements as steps which then leads to inaccurate calories burnt calculation). I know I burn at least 2500 most days so 1700 is my safe and sustainable zone, it's what I burn as a minimum anyway.

Can we talk about bowels again please? Sorry if TMI. I think mine are starting to slow down. I probably don't eat enough fibre, never have, and don't really see that changing. I'm not a big lover of fruit and veg (I have smell and texture issues) so I really do my best, but it's not great. I do eat wholewheat pasta and switch in and out of brown bread. I'll try and stick to brown.

I'm not about to fall in love with prunes or prune juice so that's not an option.

As a child I recall being given Syrup of Figs. The thought of it does make me heave, but it could be an option.

I also recall about 20 years ago trying Metamucil when it was available in the UK. I've done a quick look and other psyllium power based fibre supplements are available. E.g. www.hollandandbarrett.com/shop/product/holland-barrett-regucol-powder-350g-6100003207

Has anyone tried this sort of thing? Any thoughts?

Radish12 · 06/03/2024 10:15

@cuzco I had some issues on Saxenda last year and found that taking a magnesium gummy before bed really helped the next morning. They're meant to be really good for sleep too. I think making sure you're drinking plenty of water helps too, but I never drink enough so I wouldn't know!

JONSWIFEY · 06/03/2024 11:51

I am very constipated despite eating plenty of fibre and drinking plenty of fluids. Laxative tabs give me a really bad gut so am trying Micralax now. Anyone else tried this? I can't drink those fibregel sachets as they also give me a bad gut.

Progress report (to keep myself accountable if nothing else!)

Week 1 m: -6.5lb (0.25mg)
Week 2: -2lb
Week 3: -1.6lb
Week 4: +0.4lb
Week 5: -2.2lb (1st week on 0.5mg)
Week 6: -2.5lb
Week 7: -2.1lb

the move to 0.5mg has really helped, looking ahead to 1.0 on Tuesday hoping this trend continues - having to really work at making sure what I do eat is “valuable” in terms of protein/fruit & veg.

hope you are all getting on ok 👍❤️

BlueMumma2018 · 06/03/2024 16:07

@Cuzco glad I’m not the only one. Im on my first week of 1mg! But have had blips of this throughout. the danger has been I’ve bought Easter eggs and bits for my child and know it’s sitting there. I’ve gone to the shop too and got a multipack and scoffed the lot a couple of times. I think that whilst you don’t feel hunger, low blood sugar doesn’t hide 🙈

Why is it that egg or bunny-shaped chocolate tastes better????

Berlioze · 06/03/2024 17:45

Prunes are good for bowel movement (I hate them though!) 😩

Dimondsareforever · 06/03/2024 19:47

Hi everyone. Have been reading with interest. Did my first injection about an hour ago! Have put on 2 stone in 18 months and really need to sort it out!
CW: 13st 6.2lbs …. Would like to lose 3st. Wish me luck!

Oldandcobwebby · 06/03/2024 20:59

Welcome aboard, @Dimondsareforever!
Get that water and protein into you!

I wish you every success. You can do this...

Toooldforthis36 · 06/03/2024 21:35

@Dimondsareforever welcome and good luck - you’ve got this 💪

starlilly88 · 07/03/2024 08:27

Took my last 0.25 on Monday, all been good up to now. Last night it was like the hungry switch went on and my stomach woke me up growling. So hungry this morning. Only been 3 days since last jab and got ages till the next one. Wish I had a spare needle for the bit that is left in my 0.25 pen. Next few days are going to be really tough

Toooldforthis36 · 07/03/2024 08:54

@starlilly88 Ingot quite hungry on last week of 0.25mg - definitely needed the step up to 0.5mg. Try to stick to what you’ve been having, up your protein maybe if hungry? Hang in there! Xx

starlilly88 · 07/03/2024 09:14

@Toooldforthis36 thanks for the advice, I didn't expect to feel so hungry suddenly. Wondering if I did it right the other day, as it hurt a bit

ByCoolMoose · 07/03/2024 14:00

Stormin · 03/03/2024 12:37

@ByCoolMoose It's always good to hear of someone in the same boat......not that either of us want to be in said boat 😂. I am due to go up to 0.5 on Wednesday but thinking of taking it tomorrow and crossing fingers - I have been so good in eating healthy and not going above 1100 calories a day but only lost 2lb. I know every loss is good, but historically I always lose more at the beginning of a diet. Keep me informed how you do 😊

@Stormin , how are you getting on with 0.5 mg? I've been quite hungry this week, been trying to eat healthy and smaller portions, but using will power and lot of water to avoid eating too much. Second 0.25 tomorrow, not sure what to expect.

Stormin · 07/03/2024 14:03

@ByCoolMoose Hi, to be honest, only slightly different, and I mean very slightly. I am still hungry but like you, relying on willpower in the hope it will be more effective soon (hopefully very soon). I do have a slight nausea feeling now and then, but nothing that makes me not want to eat 🥴🥴.

Striving4Better · 07/03/2024 16:31

@starlilly88 You probably know you can order spare needles online: 32G, 4mm.

While you wait for them to arrive, you could take a needle from your next pen and use it on your old pen. Just a thought.

I did read that the advice is just to throw away the last dribble of a pen, as there is the danger of injecting air if you use it up. However, I've only read that in one place and lots of people make an effort to use all of the liquid.

Oh no, that's sad to hear. Maybe it'll get better as the weeks go on? Have you lost any weight?

Stormin · 07/03/2024 16:49

@ByCoolMoose 4lb in total, scales aren’t budging either way

Stormin · 07/03/2024 18:55

@Toooldforthis36 I have been tracking calories almost obsessively, but will give the weight watchers tracker a go. Also, not going to weigh myself for a week as it’s demoralising
