I went for my free trial at the gym as part of my lifestyle change. There’s no car park with it and it costs £3 per 30 minutes to park in nearby roads. That’s not going to work, so I cancelled that. I’ve got 2 others to try out and I know they have free parking for 2-3 hours. I’ll get back to my resistance bands for today.

Nicebloomers · 16/02/2024 12:39

Hello new people!

@Achieveanything I had a shock when I logged in after a million years too. I used to be under 10 stone 😭

my second day of being on 0.5 and it seems to be working better that yesterday. I feel like I shouldn’t just rely on it anyway and I’ve got to get used to helping myself, as opposed to second helpings if you know what I mean. Some foods are just not worth the calories they contain 🤷‍♀️

starlilly88 · 16/02/2024 17:57

I'm on day 2 and I definitely haven't had my tummy rumbling as much. The problem I have is habit and emotional eating. I can still eat and snack so stopping that is a problem. I am used to eating savoury followed by sweet, I don't know how to get out of certain habits. Hoping I will lose the food focus soon, like many others have

Thanks @Annwithout
a bmi of 27 is a great goal.
im glad to hear it’s not just me, i really thought as I increased the dose it would increase effect.
i think this is more of a kick start to a lifestyle change to make the biggest and lasting difference.
ive just logged into MyFitnessPal to restart calorie counting and saw that 4 years ago i was a stone less than now… 😏
do you think that going back to 0.25 would help?

I don't think going back to 0.25 would help as you're supposed to get the best effects once you're up to the full dose (I think). I have to stay on 1.0 for another pen due to shortages of 1.7, so I'm going to use up my old pens and get some extra that way. I haven't investigated yet how much, if any, is still left.
To be fair, I can still eat a normal meal, but normal, not stuffing away twice as much as anyone else. I definitely don't overeat since doing this, I'm just not cutting out enough calories to lose more weight.

JennyDreadful · 17/02/2024 18:38

I'm about to start Wegovy 0.25 but have just completely freaked myself out with the side effects in the patient info leaflet. Gallstones! Pancreatitis! Please tell me I'm worrying too much and that your side effects have been minimal. My BMI is 38 and I'm feeling beyond hopeless about my weight.

LadyWithLapdog · 17/02/2024 18:45

@JennyDreadful I felt the same panic. I went ahead with the determination to keep it to a minimum, for this and financial reasons.

LadyWithLapdog · 17/02/2024 18:46

I think gallstones can happen with any weight loss. Pancreatitis, keep alcohol to a minimum (also empty calories).

Honestly the side effects of obesity are much more severe! Eg wegovy has increased risk of one type of cancer. Obesity has been linked to increase risk of thirteen types!

JennyDreadful · 17/02/2024 20:00

Thank you very much for your answers, I feel a bit more reassured. I really want to get on with losing weight but it feels like a big step.

Achieveanything · 18/02/2024 09:42

@JennyDreadful i had a real worry about the same issues but reducing fatty food and certainly alcohol reduces risk of gallstones and pancreatitis. Plus the side effects are very similar to morning sickness and so you don’t fancy too much. When the scales go down, it’s a great feeling. Good luck

This^

i have some managed underlying health issues, so for me, being heavy exacerbates an already problematic health issue which is more of an immediate concern.

Nicebloomers · 18/02/2024 10:44

I’m rejoicing today as the scales finally moved after languishing at the same weight for 9 days. I’ve lost another 1.5 lbs since my first 0.5 injection on Thursday 🎉

LadyWithLapdog · 18/02/2024 10:53

Well done @Nicebloomers that must feel so encouraging after a period of apparent stagnation.

Like a PP above, I’m weighing every day. I need to get this right, and I want to do it once only and come off it asap.

Thank you ❤️

I don’t have a plan to come off it yet. I perhaps need to think things through. I can’t really afford it on a long term basis and I’m relatively new to it so have just been in the ‘will it work for me?’ zone. Things to ponder. I’ve got at least couple of stones to get off before I’m at an ideal weight though. More like 3. Currently I’m at an ideal weight for someone 10.5ft tall 😉

LadyWithLapdog · 18/02/2024 11:16

😂 at 10.5 ft tall

Scrumbleton · 18/02/2024 11:44

I'm on Wegovy 1.0. i took Ozempic for 4 months last year but my eating habits have deteriorated again. i eked it out by taking the shots fortnightly rather than weekly which worked well. Even after finishing i didn't feel hungry (greedy) like i used to for about 4 months. I lost 3 lbs last week on my first Wegovy week.

Toooldforthis36 · 18/02/2024 13:46

Great news @Nicebloomers 👍👍

Have you gone straight into wegovy 1mg after a long break?!

LadyWithLapdog · 18/02/2024 14:53

I wanted to ask the same question. I thought all started on 0.25

Cuzco · 18/02/2024 20:11

What the eff jeff type of cancer is Wegovy attributable to??? I don't recall reading that.

Thyroid I believe. Only seen in lab rats.

Scrumbleton · 18/02/2024 21:38

I had a 3 month break after taking 1mg Ozempic then did one month on wegovy 0.5, had a 2 month break and restarted on 1,0 Wegovy

Cuzco · 19/02/2024 07:04

Thanks @Nicebloomers I did read that but I think humans have a different anatomy somehow (my poor memory plus poor biology knowledge bodging paraphrasing this) so the thing that got affected, or hot it got affected doesn't likely apply to humans? I know I felt it wasn't sufficient to not do it, given all the risks of obesity.

Cuzco · 19/02/2024 07:19

I need to have a word with myself this week. I'm down 900g, which I am pleased with, but even though I don't always have howling hunger pangs, I'm finding it hard not to snack and eat chocolate.

Do others if you find Wegovy helps with the willpower too? Perhaps it's still too early days? Or I'm hoping for too much of a miracle!

Toooldforthis36 · 19/02/2024 09:30

@Cuzco I definitely feel a will power aid from Wegovy. That's not to say I don't think about food - just not as much, and if the idea of food pops into my head I often find myself answering that thought with an internal "can't be bothered".

Husband who is v naughty suggested a Chinese on Friday - I succumbed and enjoyed it but really didn't have half of what I normally would have. Couldn't be bothered with a lot of food for rest of weekend though and still lost over the weekend - unusual in that a junk food Friday might have previously derailed the entire 3 days!

With regards to the chocolate fix - one month in its not really a thing for me at moment, but the Chocolate protein powder from Willpowders was a lifesaver at the start mixed into some greek yogurt with berries or nuts. Or made into a hot choc drink. Highly recommend.

Good luck.

If useful my progress looks like this:

Week 1: -6.5lb (0.25mg)
Week 2: -2lb
Week 3: -1.6lb
Week 4: +0.4lb
Week 5: -2.2lb (1st week on 0.5mg)
