I'm getting married on the 12th September.

I've tried to be really really organised so hopefully it will all run smoothly!

Anyone else want to chat to me about their weddings and hold hands together?

That's so true, I am a very lucky girl and can't wait to be married to my wonderful DP!

I've got two sisters pretty set on big weddings one day in the future so i'll look forward to their big bashes too and be glad I don't have to be the centre of attention!

Getting quite excited about my dress, my best friend is a vey 'up and coming' designer, made the presents for the G20 WAGS, getting quite famous...and will be making me a one off frock

Heebychick · 06/08/2009 21:32

Hi everyone

We're not having favours as such either or name things, we're having cupcakes (thinking about it there will be a hell of a lot of cake at our wedding as well as a cupcake each there will be 3 tiers of wedding cake, about 100 mini cakes, cheesecake, jamacian ginger cake as well as other sweets - oops, is it time to have a re-think?)

I went to another dress fitting last night, she's put the pannel in the top and showed me how the back will be once it's bustled up and I have to say I'm amazed by how much I love it, I didn't think I could love my dress more but I do........nearly as much as dp at least I can keep dp after the wedding, my dress has to be sold because I don't have space and I need money towards a car so it will have to go.

I love my mil - they are lovely and have also paid for our honeymoon and are paying and taking dd's away with them while we have our honeymoon, they are fab, though mil did buy the same shoes as me for the wedding but actually I love my new shoes even more so I don't mind that

Good luck for today delilahbelle

Good luck for tomorrow floopy

Come back and let us know how it goes!

Lovemygirls you can never have too much cake. Cake is good.

sbjshow · 07/08/2009 15:00

exciting! I'm getting married a week today. bit stressed though as last night I sprained my ankle carrying my hefty 11 month old DS to the bath. feeling ok today though and can put weight on it. DHtobe is running around looking after me which is good fun.
think we are sorted wedding wise - am very very excited....

sbjshow · 07/08/2009 15:21

i am getting married next friday - the 14th. very exciting.
stressed though as last night at bath time I sprained by ankle carrying hefty 11 month old DS !!
thought it was broken but swelling gone down after much RICE and pain killers so hopefull will be recovered in time.

giddykipper · 07/08/2009 20:13

I went to collect my ring today and it wasn't ready , I'll have to try again tomorrow.

I need to sort out DP's ring too, he's a mahoosive size X so I can't just go and buy one over the counter. The only place I can find online who can deliver on time is H Samuel.

baiyu · 07/08/2009 21:42

Ah yes, rings, we should get some of those! I have a different designer friend who is hopefully doing them for mates rates but haven't been able to get in touch with her for the last wee while, hmm.

baiyu · 07/08/2009 21:45

Hmm, question. Do most people just get a plain gold band for their wedding ring? Anyone having something fancier? I have no idea what I'd like! What kind of ring are you ladies wearing for the rest of your lives?!

LoveMyGirls · 07/08/2009 21:48

Aww sbj hope it is better properly so you can really enjoy it!

gk What a shame but fingers crossed for tomorrow

UndomesticHousewife · 08/08/2009 10:53

I'm getting married on 3rd October!!! I think I have most things done I have a list somewhere.

The one thing I'm panicking about is my hair - I'm doing it myself and not sure I'll be able to do it!! Keep meaning to practise but never seem to have the time.
The hairdresser opens at 9am but there won't be time to go there in the morning.

Anyway apart from that, all seems to be going well!

Calyx · 08/08/2009 17:06

Hello all! Your weddings sound LOVELY, can I join in? I'm getting married a week today (!!!) on the 15th of August.

How old were you when you met - 29

How many years have you been together - 8 years

How many children/ ages? - None, but we're working on it too, starting this month!

Where/how did you meet - club in Glasgow called the Cathouse - not his usual club but he was there for a birthday or something, we had mutual friends and got chatting at a house party after the club

How did he propose - when we decided it was time for trying for a family we had the conversation (he knew from day 1 I wanted to be married for children), he did go on a knee in the living room and I still blubbed!

The original plan - small, quiet, stress-free at Registry office (well county building which looks nicer for photos!) and small, quiet, stress-free buffet/party at his mother's house afterwards for 25 plus children!

Church/registry office? - registry office

How many bridesmaids/page boys? - None

Theme/colours? - er... he's wearing a kilt as is his brother and I'm wearing an ivory monsoon number with wee sparkles; his mum's doing the flowers for the house party buffet thing so not really themed

Car? - taxis

Reception? - see above!

Cake - I don't think I'm having one unless his mum's decided to surprise me (wouldn't be surprised as she's an ANGEL)

Honeymoon? - got a week off work after the day but haven't got a passport so maybe we'll just zip off somewhere in the UK (Arran, Skye, or down south somewhere) for a few days

LoveMyGirls · 08/08/2009 19:41

Ok haven't read messages but will........

first

ARRRRRGGGGGGGGGGGGGHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH Answer the phone or ring me back and stop being such a pita!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

That was to one of my bridesmaid who never answers her phone or texts me back or rings me back and I'm getting so pissed off with her now!

How many years have you been together - 2 then a break for 2, then 4

How many children/ ages? - Ds, who was 2 in May.

Where/how did you meet - At work

How did he propose - In our hall way

The original plan - Small, minimal fuss..ha that worked..NOT!

Church/registry office? - Hotel in Glasgow - The Malmaison

When - 3rd October ((((waves to undomestichousewife)))))

How many bridesmaids/page boys? - None really although ds is one of the best men

Theme/colours? Silver and black as hotel is very gothicy

Car? - None, we are all staying at the hotel the night before/after

Reception? - At the hotel - sit down meal for 40 42

Cake - Mum has made it, having it professionally iced/decorated in silver

Honeymoon? - We are off to New York for 3 nights the week after, its our special place, as dp took me there for our first proper "date" ... In the days before mortgages/kids/responsibilites!

jojos4angels · 09/08/2009 11:42

Giddykipper my dp is a x oh it's a right pita!
and he wanted something modern so we went for a stainless steel ring.

I am still recovering from my hen night on friday more lack of sleep than anything!

giddykipper · 09/08/2009 19:49

Aaaarrgghhhh I went to collect my ring and it's too small .

I managed to get it on after a struggle, but nothing like the struggle it was to get it off again.

I'm going to have to get it adjusted again. We're leaving on Friday so I'm stressing about getting it back in time.

jojos4angels · 09/08/2009 19:52

Oh no GK,... will keep my fingers crossed for you

UndomesticHousewife · 10/08/2009 01:34

Hi geordieminx only jusy under 8 weeks to go now!!!

Here are my 'details'

How old when first met; I was 23 he was 26

How long together; 11 years

Any children; 2 dd's (9 & 8) and 1 ds (2)

How did we meet; In a nightclub

How did he propose; in the kitchen AFTER we booked the wedding venue (I was so surprised )

Church/Registry office; Hotel

When; 3rd October

Reception; meal at the hotel for 44 or so, evening do at the hotel for more if I ever get round to inviting people

Bridesmaids/pageboys; dd's are bridesmaids/flowergirls, my sister is matron of honor/signing the register and ds is pageboy (I have told everyone that if he starts running to just leave him do not want Benny Hill style carry on as I'm saying my vows)

Themes/colours; Ivory and Gold, no particular theme but have some hearts here and there and roses for bouquet adn cake

Car; the plan is to drive myself my mum and the kids in my own car to the hotel in the morning!! Must re think this plan.

Cake; made by sister of girl I know, realised I didn't actually see examples of cakes she has already made. Will be fine I'm sure! Very cheap.

Dress; Lovely dress fron BHS got it for £70 as it needs dry cleaned but looks spotless. Got lovely pair of wedding shoes for £9 from Next outlet.

Flowers; didn't want to spend loads on this, got beautiful artificial bouquets from bloominggorgeous.net

Honeymoon; Only an extra night in the hotel, can't afford it and it's back to work.

Looking over this it may seem like it's a bit of a mess and disorganised but it will be better than it sounds (I hope).

I'm trying to do it as cheaply as possible, the numbers for the meal has nearly doubled and that's taking most of the budget - even though we're still not having that many.

Most of the stuff is off ebay, like tiaras, the dd's cardigans, my bag, the favours etc things that we won't use again so getting it all dirt cheap!

IdrisTheDragon · 11/08/2009 00:48

I love reading this thread .

DH and I have been married for very nearly 10 years (it's our anniversary on Friday) .

Good luck and congratulations to everyone on this thread.

LoveMyGirls · 11/08/2009 07:22

ohhh GK really really hope you get it back in time!

Congratulations UndomesticHousewife! I know what you mean about trying to do it cheaply, we're very lucky to have so many talented friends and family that can help us out and also generous family who are willing to help pay for things, we wouldn't be having a honeymoon without the help of pil.

I think you do need to re-think driving yourself though, I tried to drive to my dress appointment in my wedding underwear and I ended up pulling off at the end of the road because I couldn't drive with it on! No way could I drive with my dress on either, infact I can't do much with my dress on, I'm hoping it isn't too stiff on the day.

I'm feeling much better and a lot less stressed now, damn PMT! Only just over a month to go now Only 2 weeks until my hen do, I can't wait for that either, I'm in need of being pampered!

OP posts:
UndomesticHousewife · 11/08/2009 11:16

Lovemygirls what are you doing for your hen do?

I don't think I will drive in my dress I can just imagine me, my mum and 3 dc's crammed into car in all our finery!
I'm hoping that the hotel can let us into my mums room early that morning so we can just drnive up there in normal clothes.

I don't want to spend the money on a wedding car and we need our own car at the hotel for the next few days anyway.

My dress isn't a typical wedding dress, it's a BHS dress and it's just long straight and flowing with no boning or things like that (it's the Alicia dress), it would be fine to drive in I think.

I haven't even thought of my bridal underwear (poor dp ), at the moment it consists of a bra and knickers so no probs driving in those either!

jojos4angels · 11/08/2009 12:05

Bridal underwear i knew i had forgot something

I don't drive,.. but if i did i wouldn't be able to do it in my dress.

So are we all organised now?
