Husband hates the dresses I loved - mob btw! He says the colour is wrong, the shape doesn’t suit. I felt fantastic in them ☹️. Ditching dh isn’t an option. Are they awful or is he being unreasonable?

I agree with @TheSquareMile - my colouring has faded from soft auburn to what's more of a warm strawberry blonde now. Colours that I wore & looked good in then, as they matched the intensity/saturation of my hair, just don't work well on me now.

At least you're going in the right direction! That label is a big favourite of Kate Middleton, Sophie & other royals (not that I'm a fan as such, but this sort of thing they do well).

Me too! My go to for weddings is a Rundholz black label 'pocket' dress (several different colours over the years!) And a short fitted jacket. But definitely not everyone's taste.

If you are planning a shopping trip and it includes JL you can order anything which is online only for delivery to that store and take it to the changing rooms to try on.
From experience a lot of the MOB stuff assumes is quite straight up and down and doesn’t work well on narrow shoulders.
I managed heels at my daughters wedding for the ceremony and drinks/photos, kicked them off as soon as we sat down to dinner and they never went back on.

I think you can do better than this. It’s a nice dress and I imagine silk. The style is bit understated for MOB and I had a dress that style about a decade ago. You have a good figure now to show off. Don’t hide behind it with clothes, that are too understated. I think this something you can get away with more if you’re stick thin or young. I am mid 50s and I would be concerned it ends up looking not much nicer than Scarlett Jo or Jolie Moi.

And remember to go for arm coverage, at least to the elbow.

Don’t know where this is from but I love it! All of it, the colour, the draping, the neckline, the dramatic cape back, the sleeve length, the ruching across tummy area and even the hat.

First one is lovely, second one really doesn't suit you, looks very baggy on you

It’s a bit too dark imo. Not sure whether or not you’re below average height, but it doesn’t look as though the waist is sitting in the right place on you. You need something that pulls you in at the waist a bit more.

Both dresses are too sombre for a spring wedding OP, unless you are intending to make a statement about your feelings towards the person your daughter has chosen to marry.
If this is not the case, then you need to go for something MUCH lighter in both colour and in fabric, much more cheerful, more joyous and celebratory. Your outfit needs to look light and sophisticated yet happy at the same time! Spring is not the time for dark navy in heavy draped fabric!
Your DH has more idea than you give him credit for.

The first dress is better than the second by a mile. But I'd steer away from both for the colour and for the pattern - neither suits you.

The blue tshirt you’re wearing with the shorts suits your skin tone really well, I think dusky pinks, blues, like in the tshirt, sagw green, maybe even teal would work really well with your skin and your hair colour, can’t tell what colour your eyes are and if any of those would be a better choice than others .
