Just that - let me know please ✨

They're generally naff and left on the table, personally an extra drink would likely be more appreciated.
Generally weddings are remembered for the quality of the food and entertainment I'd spend more money there than on favours.

grey12 · 31/07/2022 17:39

Waste of money, everyone hates them!!!

But traditional sweets from the bride's country

girlmom21 · 31/07/2022 17:40

We enjoyed miniature shots but they're probably not a good idea for a similar reason to the scratch cards mentioned above

ShirleyPhallus · 31/07/2022 17:41

I honestly think charity pins only get taken out of a sense of duty, a charity donation is absolutely fine, you don’t need pins too

Hedonism · 31/07/2022 17:42

I can't remember any of them 😳

InconvenientPeg · 31/07/2022 17:42

The only favours I rate are food based that you can eat there and then. Preferably something like fudge. We had love heart sweets which provided both sustenance and entertainment for our guests (if the photos are anything to go by!).
I've never kept any favours and am always grumpy if they're not edible straight away. Chutneys and jams are the worst because you have to carry them around and it's food but you can't even eat it.

oviraptor21 · 31/07/2022 17:42

Booze miniatures would be a waste for me.
I'd just have some nice table decs/flowers and say to people to help themselves at the end. That way those that want a memento get something and those that are not bothered (probably most) don't.

Yes, I'm teetotal so never take those with me.

piratehugs · 31/07/2022 17:43

Friends spent months buying job lots of second hand badges on eBay, found ones that were perfect for every single guest and pinned them to little hand written thank you notes. Everyone was very touched. I've treasured the badges and the effort they went to.

losingthemind · 31/07/2022 17:44

We gave a donation to a local school to buy a specific item, the headteacher of which was a guest at our wedding.

Stroopwaffle5000 · 31/07/2022 17:45

I can't for the life of me remember what the favours were at any of the wedding I've attended 😳

riotlady · 31/07/2022 17:45

Another vote for edible here! We had little iced shortbread biscuits- lemon and thyme or lavender.

Although funnily enough we had little slices of wood painted with a flower and peoples names as a place setting (lady on Etsy did them, really good value!) and didn’t intend them specifically as favours, but lots of people loved them and took them home. A couple of friends put them on their Xmas trees. So maybe the trick is to have people’s own names on, rather than “Random couple 2018” or whatever

Tiredalwaystired · 31/07/2022 17:46

November 5th wedding and everyone got a heart shaped sparkler.

Can I be a total killjoy and say please don't do scratch cards? So many people struggle with gambling and it's a nasty, pernicious addiction. You probably won't know that they are struggling and it's a very bad idea to encourage gambling anyway.

And yes, I know I'm a joyless fun-sponge.

I agree!!!

TheGetaway · 31/07/2022 17:47

Despite some opinions here by far the best was a charity pin badge in memory of the grooms DM.
Absolutely everyone wore theirs the entire meal/evening and it was lovely to know that she was remembered.

Titsflyingsouth · 31/07/2022 17:47

Don't. Spend the extra on food. Or yourselves!

Totally agree with this. Nobody needs a sugar almond in an organza bag.

Sweet as it was, do you think it was genuinely worth the time and energy - months of searching? I could be wrong, but I don't really think that everyone treasured the badges as much as you did.

awwbiscuits · 31/07/2022 17:48

We did a scratch card each and some sweets

NC1843 · 31/07/2022 17:48

2 or 3 Lindor chocolates. 3/4 of the guests ate them during the meal then harassed the remaining 1/4 for a second helping during the rest of the day.

Sorrynotsorry2 · 31/07/2022 17:48

I gave out lucky dips ( lottery ),

drunktrifle · 31/07/2022 17:48

We gave our guests personalised egg cups with our faces on one side and the date on the other. All our guests said they were the best favours ever and use them and think of us every morning 💕

QueenOfWeeds · 31/07/2022 17:49

Not favours per se, but we put out little self assembly cardboard boxes for leftover cake at the end. All of them went, and lots of extra cake which I would otherwise have eaten.

I think meaningful favours, in context, can be lovely, but I have only been to one wedding where that was the case (and it involved something the groom’s grandparents had done when he was born, so hard to replicate).

awwbiscuits · 31/07/2022 17:50

Im obviously in the minority because I love a favour !

PolkadotsAndMoonbeams · 31/07/2022 17:52

A Christmas tree decoration at a winter wedding. It's a nice memory when I put it on the tree.

The other one which I thought was sweet was a little traditional wedding good luck charm from the groom's country. That lives in my jewellery box.
