Unfortunately as there's not much to work with, I need something that can maximise what I do have Grin it's not just a case of holding up haha.

I'll try it on in Debenhams next time I go into town.

TobyLerone · 31/12/2012 20:24

I'm not having a veil, but if I were, I'd either have a birdcage one or one of those gorgeously romantic Spanish mantilla ones.

I've emailed the bespoke veil makers, I think I'm going to have firm silk tulle (hate nylon), two tier knee length, with slight gold pencil edge, scattered pearls which are thin on top and get thicker to the bottom!

If they agree, that is.

TobyLerone · 02/01/2013 09:05

Sounds fancy!

I really must get out of bed. Lots to do!

TobyLerone · 02/01/2013 09:17

Next Saturday -- 12th. And I'm still not up!

Ooh exciting! How are you getting to/from the church and reception?

My bridesmaids dresses arrived this morning, so happy with them! Need to check the colour against my dress.

roughtyping · 02/01/2013 09:43

Toby, so exciting!

Sche, your veil sounds beautiful :)

TobyLerone · 02/01/2013 09:51

Not getting married in a church. Wedding and reception are all in the same place. And my mum is driving me, in her Fiesta :o

I didn't want a big fancy car. I'd drive myself if I could, but it's probably not the best idea to drive when surrounded by yards of fabric!

TobyLerone · 02/01/2013 15:50

Oh, I will. It's getting a bit scary, wondering what little things I will forget.

Are you doing your own makeup? I remember you mentioning you were having a hair trial- is that with a normal hair salon or independent hairdresser?

I have 6 months to go, but no idea how the wedding stuff works!

TobyLerone · 02/01/2013 18:13

My hairdresser is a bit mad and has decided that she's doing my make-up as well. I was going to let her, and I know she'd do a good job, but I think that actually I'd rather just do it myself. I want to look like 'me', IYSWIM. DP likes me best with no make-up and messy hair and sweatpants because he is a chubby-chasing freak, so I'd rather not be plastered in make-up. I never wear much anyway.

My hairdresser is independent and will come to my house, but I think any hairdresser will give you a trial before the wedding day. You'll have to pay for that, obviously, but it's worth it.

Are you having your hair coloured?

TobyLerone · 02/01/2013 21:51

Nope. I want to look like me!

Big day tomorrow! What are your pray-before plans? We're off to look at a cottage to rent for the wedding night/weekend :)

Scheherezade · 03/01/2013 22:48

Day* before!!

TobyLerone · 04/01/2013 07:26

The wedding's not til next Saturday. Today I am picking up my dress and re-potting the plants for the table decorations/favours.

And thanks for reminding me! I need to call the pub where we/some of our guests are staying on the wedding night and bollock them. They've told one of my guests he can't check in til 3. He'll be travelling an hour or so by train and the wedding is at 3!

Scheherezade · 04/01/2013 22:32

Ah, I thought it was tomorrow. I considered potting our flowers, but I am just going to plant them in the ground hope they grow pick them and put them in jam jars.

roughtyping · 05/01/2013 20:14

Ah Toby a week today! How exciting!

I've paid deposit on venue, just ordered bridesmaid's dresses (had ordered one for them to try and they all love it Grin) and off to get mine tomorrow (have fallen in love with a sale dress from Monsoon - so happy!!!)

Getting so excited now :)

TobyLerone · 06/01/2013 00:02

Just back from hen night. Typing shocking. Thank goodness for auto correct!

Scheherezade · 06/01/2013 08:59

What are your bridesmaids dresses like rough ?

I'm hoping our village hall committee meet soon and let us know what they're doing with the place so we can make our minds up how best to decorate it. What with having catering vans I'm not sure how to lay out/decorate the tables, whether to have a seating plan or just make it a casual come and go type thing. I want chair covers because they're just horrible office-style polyester chairs, but DP thinks it a waste of money :(

roughtyping · 06/01/2013 09:10

sche can you go with bunting, fairy lights, pom poms? The place we're having wedding hires out bunting and fairy lights, and I'm making tissue paper pom poms :) dresses are the BHS twist and wrap ones in ocean, really beautiful but a totally different colour to the website!

Scheherezade · 06/01/2013 12:29

We can do if they let us paint the walls, otherwise we have to organise covering them up somehow.

roughtyping · 06/01/2013 14:14

Shock paint the walls? Are they needing done?

Ooooh would be fab fun tho...
