thanks redgreen. Its not me that's organised though it is the wedding planner. Good job really as I am normally very last minute.

TobyLerone · 31/10/2012 07:24

That sounds like a good compromise, RGR :)

Hi, Tit :) Cyprus is lovely. 2 years in advance shows amazing restraint! I wouldn't be able to wait that long for the holiday :o

OP posts:
ViviPru · 31/10/2012 09:29

Me neither. I'm getting massively impatient... You must have great self restraint, Tit!

So... my favourite of all the wedding-related decisions. MUSIC

What are you all having? Down the Aisle? Signing of the register? First dance? Etc!

I'm going down the aisle to

Exit to

And first dance is

We have a Spotify playlist that will play before the ceremony, during the meal and during the evening when the band isn't playing and DP & co aren't mixing live. It currently stands at 200 tracks, and thats already after a brutal cull Confused

littlemissstan · 31/10/2012 09:45

Oooh, music!

I have these as a little playlist on my iPod and listen to it to cheer me up from time to time :)

ViviPru · 31/10/2012 09:59

Eee! Stan we really are kindred spirits! Songbird is one of the last tracks to be played before I arrive - it was the best man's DW's down the aisle song, so we thought it would be nice to play it just before mine...

Our acoustic duo have that Bright Eyes track in their repertoire, and the band are playing Signed Sealed Delivered, and you won't believe it but that original version of You Got the Love was a close contender for our first dance!

TobyLerone · 31/10/2012 10:59

Ooooh, I love music! I'm quite the music geek, so DP has left that decision pretty much up to me. We've got a bit of a playlist (just a few songs) for before I come in. I've also made a playlist for the tea/champagne/cakes part, and for the dinner part (the band have said we can use their PA to play my iPod through during their break).

Walking down the aisle to by Elbow.

Signing the register to by OK Go (this video is amazing, as OK Go videos always are). I'm not sure if we'll have the song played just through my iPod or if DD will sing while DS plays his guitar. They want to for the moment, but I'm leaving it until nearer the time to see if they chicken out :o
Also by Pulp.

Walking out to by Darwin Deez. This is 'our song', more than any other.

First dance to by Frank Turner. We love him, and this song is just right for us :)

We're also having another song played just after our first dance a second first dance, I suppose! because we want one and because we can :o
It'll be by Fyfe Dangerfield, because it's the happiest song I've ever heard.

ViviPru · 31/10/2012 11:07

Oh I love OK Go Toby, Last Leaf is very poignant. Their video for White Knuckles is one of my all-time favourites. As is End Love.

We're having a second first dance too, it'll be All Night Long by Lionel - I just wanted something that's guaranteed to get everyone on the dance floor after a rather self-indulgent and relatively obscure first dance. And it's was the end-of night comedy song that used to be played at the very trainspotty, geeky underground house club night where DP and I met Grin

TobyLerone · 31/10/2012 11:17

Yeah, ours is going to be a bit weird because we're having ceilidh band, dinner, first dance, then more ceilidh band, so I thought 2 songs might ease the transition a bit. It will still be odd to have 2 songs and then clear the floor again, but maybe less weird than just one...

We all love OK Go in my house. White Knuckles is great. This Too Shall Pass has 2 videos and I can't decide which I like best. The video is our current favourite :)

Ha that's ace! Not seen that one before.

littlemissstan · 31/10/2012 12:02

Ha ha - Vivi we are wedding TWINS :) We're going for a second first dance too, but are having a small disagreement - we want something that will really signal to everyone that it's time to dance like a good'un, the contenders are:

And

Two are mine, and two DP's - I shan't tell you which so you can all give me an unbiased opinion of which is best!

TobyLerone · 31/10/2012 12:05

Shake A Tail Feather or Bowie for me. I loathe the others and personally, I would go and sit down as soon as they came on.

God, I hope the good 2 are yours :o:o

We're having Reel 2 Reel in our Dance Classics section. Between Byron Stingley and Bob Sinclar Grin

littlemissstan · 31/10/2012 12:27

In which case Bowie wins! Reel 2 Reel was totally my choice too

RedGreenRouge · 31/10/2012 12:57

We're a bit stuck on the music front as most of our favourite music isn't romantic at all. It'll probably all be Beatles and Bowie and a couple of semi-romantic Smiths and Blondie songs.

Another vote for Bowie here, stan.

AKissIsNotAContract · 31/10/2012 13:27

We are having:
walk down the aisle - Stay with You by John Legend
Signing registers - Green Lights by Aloe Blacc
Leaving the room - Lovely day by Bill Withers.

Arriving at the reception venue- You're all I need by Method Man and Mary J Blige.
During dinner - Our take on an MC battle
First dance - You make me Smile by Aloe Blacc
Second dance - All Night by Damien Marley

memphis83 · 31/10/2012 14:15

Wow I haven't thought loads about music as dp doesnt want to do a first dance unless its one of those ones like on youtube which isnt happening!
But I am walkig down the Lets get Married by the Proclaimers. I would like to dace to you got the love by Florence and the machine but its a bit fast so I don't know how I would dance to it without dp lookig like a total dad dancer and me looking drunk!
My bridesmaid has just see the teatowel she didn't stop talking about it.

ViviPru · 31/10/2012 14:23

You're all I need by Method Man and Mary J Blige. Awesome.

Did you manage to get them to move on price at all, memphis, or have you ordered based on the prices listed here?

What design have you chosen?

RedGreenRouge · 31/10/2012 14:31

Are the teatowels as good in the flesh as they look on the website, memphis?

memphis83 · 31/10/2012 15:28

vivi I said I would get back to her in new year with order as I want to find some wording thats a bit unusual but I havent discussed price as I just presumed the price on their site is the price . I have never haggled i my life maybe I need to start.
red the quality is fantastic really soft and clear writing. E mail for a sample it came in days

TobyLerone · 31/10/2012 15:35

RGR, very little of our music is particularly romantic in the classic 'Lady In Red' sense :o I think it's romantic to choose songs which mean something to you, and bugger whether anyone else thinks it's appropriate!

OP posts:
ViviPru · 31/10/2012 16:19

We haven't haggled much on the wedding even though DP and I are usually pretty relentless with haggling. I think the suppliers we've chosen don't need to drop their prices to secure business - that's the problem. Probably the same with the tea towels. For some reason the prices just seem really expensive, but then I have no idea what standard wedding stationery costs and these obviously have a massive appeal over that.

TobyLerone · 31/10/2012 16:21

Vivi, you need to get into the wedding stationery business!

OP posts:
ViviPru · 31/10/2012 16:26

AKiss I think you ought to have A Kiss Is Not A Contract as you sign the register Grin

ViviPru · 31/10/2012 16:29

I've considered it - my sister is a wedding stationery designer, well she was until she sacked it off to do just greeting cards as doing weddings was too much of a massive stress... and that's from someone who used to be head of compliance at one of the biggest pharmaceutical companies in the world - what she doesn't know about work-related stress...

I might offer the papercuts, I suspect they'll be a bit of a flash in the pan but could cash in while the trend is still rolling...

memphis83 · 31/10/2012 16:47

vivi the stationary I had picked was £5 per invite and I had to have multiples of 10 so had 5 more than we need so with artwork and teatowels it is £177 which is slightly cheaper. But my best friend is doing all the rsvps and evening invites for me so we won't have anything to pay out for that.
