Sorry- had to sort out the kids. Venue booked- July 20th next year. Got a friend designing my invites, and have a paper theme, so will be having paper bouquets made and was planning to do my own table displays. The BM's have decided what colour dresses they want, and Dj and photographer booked.

But the dress! I can't find what I want and am getting bit disheartened! How are you all getting on?

ViviPru · 24/10/2012 16:30

What sort of thing have you been looking at? Well known designer? Highstreet? Custom made? I've just been swooning over Sarah Seven. What's your budget?

I like the paper theme. DP does a lot of his design work in board, so we're having a bit of a brown Kraft card look... This is my stationery muse image...

TobyLerone · 24/10/2012 16:36

If I were marrying in the summer, I'd probably have this. I love her stuff.

vivi their website is being updated so cant link but they design image of your choice then you pull the tab and the invite slides out of top and bottom. They are £5 each I need 35. The tea towels are about the same.
See I think invites are very important as they are the first thing people see. Two of my friends got married last year, really cool quirky people and I expected something that was like them but it was swirly boring wedding print. Their wedding cost 20 grand and invites were left to the venue to sort at cost of £5 each and everyone commented on how uninspiring they were. I want something different. Our evening invites will cost nothing as a friend will print them and there will be no order of service or anything so want it to be unusual.
toby their were no diamonds on it, was just pearly and beaded. I tried one on for a grand and it looked cheap!

Youremindmeofthebabe · 24/10/2012 17:26

That Sarah seven stuff is gorgeous- the silvery lace dress with the cowl back and little train about 3/4 of the way down the page. I don't want to pay any more than 1k and less than that the better. In an ideal world then £500. I did think about a colour too, because I'm not really a White dress kind of girl, but if I'm only going to do it once...
I'm going to pop upstairs to the pc to link you the kind of thing I like.

We married in August and we had a brilliant florist. She grows all her own flowers. I went to an open day at her farm and walked round with her pointed out stuff I liked.

She made my and the BMs bouquets and the buttonholes.

The day before the wedding I went over and picked up several buckets of freshly picked flowers which DM and DMIL arranged for the tables and around the marquee.

It was fab because it was seasonal and local - and dirt cheap Grin

catinwitchyboots · 24/10/2012 17:30

She also hired us a collection of vintage cut glass vases for the tables. They were about a quid each to hire I think!

catinwitchyboots · 24/10/2012 17:32

Love that paperwork vivi

www.net-a-porter.com/product/198055

or this was what I wanted originally
www.net-a-porter.com/product/168406

Or www.net-a-porter.com/product/313914

And I have tried this
file:///C:/Users/User/Desktop/Preloved%20%20%20vintage%20%20wallis%20simpson%20%20dress%20by%20david%20fielden%2010%2012%20for%20sale%20in%20Bradford,%20West%20Yorkshire,%20UK.htm

But it was a little heavy around the top for me. The bottom half was lovely.

I've looked at traditional shops, but I think I want a Gown, if you know what I mean. I love all the Roksanda Ilinic stuff.

Those paper invites with the laser cut are just fab! I agree, memphis about it being the first thing you see, and needing to be good.

catinwitchyboots · 24/10/2012 17:46

That Vivienne Westwood Bellini dress is divine.

I would look terrible in it though. I had to have a HUGE skirt to conceal my HUGE thunder thighs Grin

TobyLerone · 24/10/2012 18:25

I have such a weakness for Vivienne Westwood dresses. That one is amazing. Lucky you, to be able to get away with it, or any of the others. Slim-fitting and/or bias-cut satin is not my friend Envy

The second Roksanda Ilincic that you linked to is the most beautiful colour.

Emailed teatowel company, they are sending out a sample!

catinwitchyboots · 24/10/2012 21:24

That's do cool Memphis! I wish I'd seen them before I got married

I would proper squeeeeeeeee if I got one of those from a friend in the post Grin

RedGreenRouge · 24/10/2012 21:25

Report back, memphis!

Thanks to the Kent people, I was inspired to look at Kent bridal shops and I think I may have found some strong contenders. I was also looking at venues during my lunch and have compiled a shortlist. It's up to DP to veto now!

RedGreen - try Jodi bridal. It's not they intimate but they have a big selection of dresses ranging from £££ to budget but they're really helpful Wink

RedGreenRouge · 25/10/2012 00:02

Thank you, they look great, cat

TobyLerone · 25/10/2012 08:41

The lady at Tiaras and Tails in Mersham is very helpful. But that might be a bit far out for you, RGR, and it's not a huge shop, so the selection might not be worth a long journey.

Also, there's one in Ashford called Bows (IIRC) with another lovely lady, but again it's quite small-ish.

Love that Vivi dress, thebabe, I'm going to treat myself to something from the Anglomania line when I get to my weightloss goal.

Looking forward to hearing about your progress with venues, RGR

catinwitchyboots · 25/10/2012 09:13

oooh RedGreen - are you going to share any links with us for some of your venues?? [hwink]

ViviPru · 25/10/2012 09:32

Help! I'm having a real dilemma.

The videographer I originally wanted to use who was unavailable on my wedding date (A) has just emailed to say her prior engagement is cancelled, and she would love to cover our wedding. This is really tricky timing as we're meeting with the alternative videographer (B) on Sunday. I kind of want to keep my options open, so I'm not sure what to tell her (A), how to word it, I mean Confused

catinwitchyboots · 25/10/2012 09:36

Have you paid a deposit to B?
