1st September marks the start of meteorological Autumn and it looks like the new season/month is going to start with a continuation of the weather we’ve had the last few weeks ~ unsettled. But here are the Autumnal thoughts of….

TheWeatherOutlook
and yesterday’s thoughts from Netweather (their Autumn forecast doesn't seem to be available yet.)

And then there’s a very strong El Nino to add into the mix, which might bring a stormy/windy Autumn ~ Netweather's thoughts from a few weeks ago...

So let's see what the new season brings....

Developing Super El Nino may bring a wetter-than-average autumn

The latest ECWMF seasonal forecast indicates that it will turn increasingly wet through autumn - which is likely linked to super strong El Nino forecast to develop later this year - which tends to fuel an enhanced Atlantic storm track into Europe.

Very dry unfortunately. A beautiful sunny morning here.

That's the advantage of high pressure being near/close by ~ we get some lovely sunny, settled days (so much better than dull, wet, darker days that usually happen at this time of year) but we do need the rain. And the metoffice long-range forecast doesn't think we're going to get much of that in the next week or two....

Saturday, 7th - Monday,16th November
High pressure is likely to dominate conditions across much of the UK initially, with large amounts of cloud at times but any amounts of rain or drizzle tending to be small. Quite breezy in the south, but a greater chance of some fog patches in northern areas where winds will be lighter. As the high pressure begins to migrate away to the east, frontal systems may attempt to bring some occasional rain to parts of the southwest and/or northwest at times, though exactly how much progress into the UK this makes is uncertain. Rainfall is most likely to be below average in many areas for this period as a whole, with temperatures initially a little below average before returning to near or slightly above average.

It has been damp here, but nowhere near enough rain. I keep getting images of Ladybower reservoir on my Facebook feed, and it is much lower than I have ever seen it.

The lost village has been seen before - in August
surprised the government isn’t coming down hard on water usage
