Thought I’d start an early thread on this. Friday looks very blowy here in Wales. We currently have a yellow warning, waiting to see if it’s upgraded.

I am no man! 😁

Right, now I've got that off my chest, hope everyone comes through alright. 💐 I'm in a yellow area so should be okay. Fingers crossed for you all. ❤️

TheJinxMinx · 23/01/2025 23:05

Checking in guys, red zone here wind speeds 100mph according to met office in my area. Already 47 tonight picking up rightly. Stay safe all

missbeehive5 · 23/01/2025 23:05

North East here and very quiet so far. Only in a yellow zone and no school closures or anything here. I still get super anxious with the wind though. Our trampoline has a breeze block on it, hopefully that will be enough!

Feel for you all in Scotland and Ireland. Hunker down and stay safe.

Alwaysdreaming21 · 23/01/2025 23:05

I’m in the red area, and I’m worried. I’ve not experienced anything like this before. I’m not able to put my car in a garage so worried incase there is any damage

My mum is in a care home on the seafront, Northern Ireland and having her driver for end of life care started in the morning. I will have to walk as all public transport cancelled. Not good timing for us but I can't let her be on her own.

I'm so sorry to hear about your mum 😢 is there anyway you could take a bag and stay? My papa was end of care couple months ago and they allowed one to stay once the driver was in. X

Getting wild here now in Co galway

MiniPumpkin · 23/01/2025 23:24

West coast of Scotland here . We are in red zone, we are on a hill and coastal so fingers crossed we will be ok.
all schools , nurseries and public transport cancelled. Lots of shops closed. Courts also closed. I am a manager in frontline public service and our doors will be closed tomorrow. Very rare but can’t take the risk.
stay safe all

Canwegodancing · 23/01/2025 23:25

Think I will put the lead on the dog before she's out for the last wee to keep a hold on her

CharityShopChic · 23/01/2025 22:49

They must be very worried about me as I had the alert twice. Once along with everyone else just before 6pm, again about 8.15 when driving back from a vastly depleted Asda. Scared the shit out of me as I wasn't expecting it again!!

Very calm here in Glasgow, you'd never think there was a massive storm on the way. Lots of locaal businesses are closed tomorrow, no buses, no trains, no school and university. fingers crossed everyone is OK.

I’m in Glasgow too and when I was putting the wheelie bins away earlier I felt how calm it was. Not even a breeze. Guess that’s what they mean with the “calm before the storm” thing.

It sounds like you are going to use her as a kite.

I'm in Ireland on the coast..my anxiety is through the roof 🥹

Earphones and soothing music. Or John Creedon. Block out the rain

🤣🤣 poor pups

NC28 · 23/01/2025 23:37

I can’t find the alert from earlier anywhere in my
phone. I know someone said it was within Notifications but all I have is the option to turn the alerts off or on.

TortillasAndSalsa · 23/01/2025 23:38

Right smack bang in the middle of the red zone of central scotland, all schools are shut and tesco is shut all day. You know it's bad when tesco is shut. They didn't even shut during hurricane bawbag 🙈😂

Cher22 · 23/01/2025 23:42

Aww im in northern ireland.....anixety throu roof already and its not even here yet. Its bloody awful how this can make ya feel. Its gonna be a long night but i have earphones ready and half an anixety tablet if needed, always sounds worse inside home at night and its scary. Keep safe people best u can as mother nature does what she wants

TortillasAndSalsa · 23/01/2025 23:42

mrsmacmc · 22/01/2025 20:32

One of the weather pages I follow has just shared this - it's wind speeds not warnings but I reckon there will be more red warnings issued

My friend sent me that same picture an hour ago but our wee bit of the map is now purple 🙈🙈🙈

Stressybetty · 23/01/2025 23:43

Newcastle upon Tyne here, we've got both a yellow and amber warning for tomorrow, very quiet at the moment. Been told we can WFH if we're worried but will have to make the office time up next week. Good luck to all in the red zones, stay safe.

Sideshowbobhair · 23/01/2025 23:47

Scottish Borders here and well and truly in the red zone. Really feeling for all my Community Nurse colleagues that have to carry on as normal tomorrow. At the same time getting angrier by the minute that despite our bins being emptied on Wednesday morning, some lazy gits, (despite being fit and able bodied) have left left them by the roadside to cause a hazard to essential road users and cause damage to other peoples property and cars 🤬.

millfree · 23/01/2025 23:50

I'm in a Scottish red area, all public transport is off all day tomorrow and all schools etc closed, I think everything is closed and all GP appointments are cancelled although their will be a small staff in for emergencies. Worst to last until early evening going by reports.

TwentyKittens · 23/01/2025 23:52

Part of the A66 between M6 J40 and Scotch Corner closes at midnight for an indefinite period because of high winds forecast.

pippapipps · 23/01/2025 23:55

Crikey it's really ramping up a here in Ireland I had to check my windows were actually closed as it sounded like they were slightly open..it's just so loud and the rain is belting the windows, dread to think what it will be like later..anxiety getting the better of me

Lilactimes · 23/01/2025 23:57

TheJinxMinx · 23/01/2025 23:11

I'm so sorry to hear about your mum. Hope you stay safe on your journey to be with her

So sorry to hear about your mum too and hope you stay safe. So much to deal with - sending hugs xx

MillionaireCaramel · 24/01/2025 00:00

SW Scotland here, right in the red zone. Even the supermarkets are closed here
