Thought I’d start an early thread on this. Friday looks very blowy here in Wales. We currently have a yellow warning, waiting to see if it’s upgraded.

We've now had an all schools and council buildings closed notice. There are also no public buses running tomorrow.

Bigboysmademedoit · 23/01/2025 15:48

Northern Ireland - Red warning, all schools closed, work closed (told to work from home), Lidls will be closed so it must be serious!!

Sunnyside4 · 23/01/2025 15:50

Gloucestershire here, so we seem to have little to worry about compared to Ireland and Scotland. However, we've got a roof problem (new roof and chap already come back twice) - chap contacted us yesterday saying he was coming back this morning as he wanted to try and sort once and for all (before Eowyn) - turns out could be seeping in from next door, so he's done what he can on the party wall without disturbing their materials. I know from when they did the roof they keep a close eye on weather forecasts and he was hoping it wouldn't be as bad as forecast around here as he'll be busy next week with worried people.

Local news seems to have upgraded it concerns about flooding.

Heck. I used to sail tall ships when I was younger and earlier today I was thinking about being on a sailing ship out there tomorrow!

There's an emoji for that 🤮

Oddly enough I’ve never been seasick - but I have been scared and that’s in normal seas 😂

I'm supposed to be flying to Belfast tomorrow at 12....it's not been cancelled yet!!
I'm guessing it will be though

MissRabbitHasBurnOut · 23/01/2025 16:03

Central Scotland here, in the red zone.
Very grateful that both me & DH can work from home tomorrow. All local schools are closed too so at least we will be here for DD.

DH going to go out and secure everything in the garden as much as he can after work tonight, thanks for the tip of making sure everything is charged!

justasking111 · 23/01/2025 16:18

We needed seven fence panels after the last storm. They arrived today 🙈. Builder has postponed until Monday.

BoudiccasBangles · 23/01/2025 16:22

@justasking111 at least you hadn't got them up!

We have a DofE expedition planned in north Wales this weekend, I'm guessing that won't be happening.

They're down the passageway. Just praying they're not going to take off.

Redglitter · 23/01/2025 16:26

Central Scotland

KIlliePieMyOhMy · 23/01/2025 16:27

mummytothree87 · 23/01/2025 16:37

Gilead · 23/01/2025 16:55

North East, inland. Amber warning. I have a stairlift and a power chair. I’m stuffed if the leccy goes. I can only charge it so much.
Also concerned about the woods at the back of me!

BiddyPop · 23/01/2025 17:11

Apparently waves of 12-15 metres (so 36-45 feet) expected off Clare and Galway on Ireland's west coast

ReginaaPhalangee · 23/01/2025 17:20

Just heard on the radio that they are issuing emergency alerts to phones at 6pm tonight to those in the red zone

PickAChew · 23/01/2025 17:22

That will be lot of people slicing fingers off when hey make dinner, then!

Octocat · 23/01/2025 17:30

We just got the emergency alarm message. Hoping the fence survives.

thrifty24 · 23/01/2025 17:34

Following from Glasgow!

Chipsahoy · 23/01/2025 17:49

Getting a bit nervous here. We aren’t in red, but we live high up and exposed in rural Scotland. On a good day, we always have wind. Still, the house has stayed up for the last 300 years!

I just had one, DD nearly jumped out of her skin when my phone started going off Grin

South West, only in the yellow here, but need to drive to work through country roads with lots of trees. Had torrential downpours today too, so am expecting trees to be down.

The last set of bad weather, the school I work for told us to check into a hotel closer to school, if there was bad weather forecast, so we would be sure to be on time in the morning...it didn't go down well.

Looks like we've also got yellow wind warnings for Sunday and Monday too - has there been another storm named?
