New Year, new weather thread

Starting this but I'll leave predictions to the MN experts.

Looks like colder weather at New Year. Hopefully the winter sun will make a return. It's been such a grey autumn.

Even though it's been snowing steadily here for 2.5 hours, the Met Office forecast still says rain but with a yellow warning for snow 😳

We've got a slight covering of about 1-2cms here (Leicester) but that's about it.

Mine's going to slowly disappear as it warms up this morning but it's only going to be a brief warm up as colder temperatures look set to continue this week, so there might be more snow on the way for some.

Yep our snow shield has been breached! Very pretty but I could do without the boiler packing in!

Why, oh why beenrumbled, do boilers always pick the worst possible time to do that?!

Disappointing little slushy snow on NE England coast. Quite heavy sky but more likely to be rain than snow.

Most of last night's snow is gone, rained on and turned to slush, but I did get a good stomp about in untrodden squeaky snow this morning so I'm happy.
We had the only unsnowed car in the church car park as we park in the garage (it saves a lot of scraping time in the winter).

We still have a fair amount of snow on the ground here on the Tameside/Manchester border but its slowly melting. Probably got about 1 1/2 inches overnight. Not raining here at the moment but the sky is heavy with it so I think it will arrive soon.

Are we getting more snow today?

Seeing the grandchildren sledging today, their joy, was a delight. We so rarely have snowfall. As a child I remember snow every winter in the south east and the fun we had.

Started snowing heavily again here in Bradford. Amber warning extended to 6am. Will be wfh tomorrow I reckon, as we still have a yellow warning for snow and ice until lunch time.

Just spoken to son in Farsley. Been snowing for a couple of hours forecast to last all night.

Our temperature shot up to 11.3C in the heavy rain we had last night. It's now back down to 2.3C so that's our mild spell done for the week!

School closures across the city, our car needs digging out so wfh it is.
trains and buses do seem to be running, just with a delay. Temp hovering around 1degree & not going to get much above it for most of the week by all accounts.

Can't sleep due to the gale force winds. 😫

11 degrees now - will be 3 by lunchtime.

Temperature's down to 0.9C now and we're having snow! Big flakes and it's beginning to settle on cars and grass.

Very wet and windy here in the SE, we had a couple of inches of snowfall on Saturday night which had all melted and been rained away by Sunday morning.
I’m annoyed as I was so looking forward to getting back to my normal routine today of a walk during my lunchbreak as ds is also back to school - currently the trees I can see from my window are nearly horizontal from the wind and the puddles look deep enough to swim in!

Heavy rain in Warwickshire overnight and so much localised flooding being reported. Fortunately it's a Warwickshire inset day so not as much traffic as there might usually be. Glad I'm wfh today!

Just light rain and wind in outskirts of London but set to get colder later on.
