Starting this but I'll leave predictions to the MN experts.

Looks like colder weather at New Year. Hopefully the winter sun will make a return. It's been such a grey autumn.

Sadly for southern snow lovers, it does look more likely than not this morning that you'll end up in a very mild sector on Sunday after all and just end up with warmth, wind and rain. Sorry.

Some spectacular aurora photos last evening absolutely beautiful. Clear cold skies. Hard frost this morning.

Asking for assistance -I have a long journey Cambridge to Newcastle planned for Saturday. Any advice on current models/predictions?

Don't want to go if likely to be major snow.

I'm near London and we have a snow flake on our forecast now, with a rain drop /sleet

85% snow here in Warrington on iPhone weather for Saturday, I know it's not the most reliable source, but I'll take it!

I messaged my son to remind him we still had two sledges stored under the house. Twenty years old now. I hope they're still okay. We have had them out for years.

yetanotherusername44 ~ at the moment, the low pressure system starts moving in to the SW/south, Saturday afternoon. It starts off as snow but will turn to rain for the SW by Saturday evening, then the the south overnight Saturday into Sunday. Wales and the Midlands will see the same thing but more Sunday morning.

The further north you go, the more disruptive the snow could be with the Midlands, northern England (TokyoSushi ~ you could be in luck here and the Manchester Snow Shield could well be breached!) and Scotland with the highest chances of getting disruptive amounts. The north and Scotland could well see the snow staying throughout Sunday.

Once again, it does look like there will be snow for a time in parts of the south, before turning to rain.I agree with Gloria's assessment.
BTW, Manchester has had far more snow than I've seen in the south in the past few years.

I'm just up, a few flakes of snow as I was feeding the cat, but steadily brightening. I was hoping we were guaranteed some snow in the NE ❄️☃️🌨

Hi all, could someone please explain something to me about the Met Office forecast that I'm always puzzled by?

So we have a yellow weather warning for snow and ice, for tomorrow and Sunday (yaaaaaaay!)

But I don't understand why the little cloud symbols aren't showing any snowflakes? They're showing rain or sunshine?

I’m good with no snow if it means it’s warmer. Bloody freezing here today.

We’ve been updated to an Amber alert here in West Yorks from 9pm on Saturday.

Advanced the heating so it's on all day today. And the bedroom radiator is on for only the second time this winter. 🥶🥶

We are under a snow warning but it is mostly rain when you check the hourly weather for Sunday. Just need it to be a little colder 🤞🏼

We’re still in a yellow warning zone, but all the forecast shows is a high probability of sleet (late Saturday) turning to rain overnight. So I doubt I’ll actually see any white stuff.

But there may be ice (temperature hovering just above 0, but a few degrees below with wind chill)

Our Saturday temps are 4, falling to zero overnight and then 13 degrees for Sunday daytime, back down to 3 Monday!
