Although cold, snowy weather is still possible, we are a few weeks away from the start of meteorological spring (1st March)
So here are some thoughts from The Weather Outlook on what we might expect.

This has made me laugh

😂

Still recovering from spending a week in hospital the other week. Beginning to think what I actually need is a week in the sun somewhere.

GloriaSmud · 11/04/2024 06:44

peloton2024 ~ that's very good! 😆

I spent yesterday morning (before yet more rain moved in) putting in onions at the allotment. I start them off at home about February time now because I got so fed up off putting them in the ground in October and then most of them rotting because it was so wet.

RafaistheKingofClay ~ hope you're feeling better. Something nicer weather-wise is coming.

Still looking ok for next week. Less wind, there might still be the odd shower, it might not be warm all the time but hopefully it'll be better than what we've had over the last few months.

It's 16°c here, with a brightening sky. I will take that 😃

justasking111 · 11/04/2024 12:31

It's warm poor postman was in his all weather hi glow jacket a few minutes ago when I was cleaning the front porch which was full of mud from discarded boots since Christmas was the last time I bothered. It's been full of footwear and forlorn geranium hanging baskets, which died anyway 🙄.

I pulled back the curtains with a song in my heart and was clonked by the pole when it gave up on the wall fitting. OUCH!!

This sunshine shows up every paw print, wet tail muddy flourish on the karndean floor 🙈

BUT!! it's NOT raining 👏👏👏

RafaistheKingofClay · 11/04/2024 22:47

It hasn’t been sunny here, but it hasn’t rained. So that’s a start.

justasking111 · 11/04/2024 23:14

My son flies out to Porto on Sunday. Five days of sun and 24c forecast. Lucky man

Had rain but no thunderstorms in SE so far which I kinda miss but cat hates thunder and lightning so guess she’s happy. It’s way too humid though.

FlabMonsterIsDietingAgain · 12/04/2024 06:39

No thanks. Warmth would be lovely but I'm starting to develop webbed toes and an inclination to quack so could really do with some sustained dry weather.

RafaistheKingofClay · 12/04/2024 13:54

The grass has been mowed! Well part of it anyway. The other half can wait until next week.

There is a fiery ball in the sky. Haven’t seen that in a while.

Vegemiteandhoneyontoast · 12/04/2024 14:46

There is a fiery ball in the sky.

And a warm breeze. I have three loads of washing on the line and it's nearly dry 😍

RafaistheKingofClay · 12/04/2024 14:50

The problem is now I’ve been into the garden I can see all the weeds.

Pixiedust1234 · 12/04/2024 14:52

Cloudy so no ball in the sky, fiery or otherwise. But it is dry and warmish.
Can't cut the grass yet as it's still a buffalo wallow, but at least it's not a waterfowl reserve. Small mercies and all that.

Very jealous of those who have fiery balls ☀

justasking111 · 12/04/2024 15:01

Aigh, the fiery Ball shows up the dust and cobwebs 😂😂

RafaistheKingofClay · 12/04/2024 15:25

There is that too. Although this house is just dusty so I’m learning to ignore it. 😂

MotherOfCatBoy · 13/04/2024 21:31

Yesterday I felt re-made, such was my joy at seeing the sun - all day!
Grey this morning, though there was some brightness lunchtime, then back to grey this evening.
Hoping this is the start of a general perking up of the weather…

countrygirl99 · 13/04/2024 21:55

I spotted a patch of dry mud on the way to the muck heap at the yard. Only about a metre square, but dry!

Yes, at last, this looks like the start of something better coming along! There's a bit of a blip tonight (heavy rain for some and tomorrow, heavy showers) but after that, it gets better. It isn't looking very warm (10C and 11C feature a lot in the GFS and the nights could still be chilly) but for the coming week, at least it's looking mostly dry.

Some sun today and no rain in Edinburgh today. Still fucking windy.
DD went to an electronic dance festival yesterday and came home early as she got cold and soaked queuing for a pizza. Don't blame her, it was 7C with 45mph gusts...as she was dressed for clubbing 😂

Vegemiteandhoneyontoast · 14/04/2024 17:13

@Perihelion that sounds grim, not surprised she wanted to come home early. I'm in Oxfordshire and the breeze has been quite nippy here so Edinburgh must have been chilly.

Perihelion · 14/04/2024 17:24

Think it was about 0C with the wind chill 😱

Vegemiteandhoneyontoast · 14/04/2024 17:27

Blimey! Just...No. No, no no.
