Although cold, snowy weather is still possible, we are a few weeks away from the start of meteorological spring (1st March)
So here are some thoughts from The Weather Outlook on what we might expect.

I know Pixiedust1234 ~ I look at the GFS most days and end up thinking, 'well that looks like better weather coming' and then another weather system springs up from nowhere and delivers another load of rain, wind, snow etc!

I think I’ve spotted some appropriate lawn mowing weather later in the week but last time that happened it just poured down for all the days it was supposed to be dry.

@OhYouBadBadKitten will Pop back in when this weather system shifts. I suspect April is a write off.

I'm not optimistic for Wales 😭.

In other news the weeping willow we planted survived storm Kathleen.

RafaistheKingofClay · 08/04/2024 19:36

I’m not optimistic for the SW. apparently parts of it have had nearly their entire annual rainfall already in 2024.

And to think I was looking at drought resistant grass seeds for redoing the garden with last summer.

TokyoSushi · 08/04/2024 22:19

Absolutely torrential here in Warrington, again! Surely this can't go on for much longer!

GloriaSmud · 09/04/2024 06:42

I think it's a case of 'hang in there.' The GFS isn't showing any storms (don't need anymore of those) and while it isn't looking totally dry or warm at first (changeable is the best way to describe it), towards the middle of next week, it's looking better. Still not totally dry but with less of the 'total wash-out rain days' we've been having.

Torrential rain this morning and huge gusts of wind. My poor sapling 🤬

Those white vans are being very "brave". Unless that is how white vans normally get washed which might explain why so many are usually filthy 🤔

I wouldn't be leaving my vehicle in that salt/sand ridden environment. I bet the prom loos will be blocked up again 🙈

And from Tuesday onwards next week (although there could be showers/longer spells of rain for Scotland at times), it's looking much better and warmer.

I'm listening to the rain being pelted against my windows whilst looking at that gorgeous picture of baby lambs.

Nope, I'm not getting the same feeling as I do when looking at holiday brochures on Boxing Day 😟 (ie, zero hope).

gingercat02 · 10/04/2024 15:06

It was biblical rain here in the NE yesterday. Major roads flooded to the point they had to be closed.
Still wet today but not as bad.
We have just spread a tonne of compost and topsoil on the garden beds. The grass now is more mud than grass. I'm not sure it will ever dry enough to get it cut

Anyone seen the “sick of the fucking weather” thread in AIBU? It quickly went to the full 40 pages and is basically a howl of frustration (except for some “puddle suit wankers” insisting it’s all fine despite the most rain in 130 years 🤣). Worth a look!

Yes I saw it. Sad lamps still out, wellies and all.

EmmaEmerald · 10/04/2024 18:25

I was thinking that I needed to go back on medication. But today I twigged that it's basically been six months of no light.

Yep there's nowt wrong that a bit of sunny weather wouldn't fix.

I think we need a month before my brain goes back to normal!

MotherOfCatBoy · 10/04/2024 21:19

Exactly I feel like this too. I wonder if I am really depressed and then we have half a day of sunshine and I realise how much it powers me up. It’s incredible but what do I do for the other 6-8 months of the year? It’s grinding on for too long now.

justasking111 · 10/04/2024 21:44

Yesterday afternoon the sun came out we took the dogs to the beach just a quick ball throwing session but those positive ions in the air helped. This morning I was energetic Stripped the bed, in the washing machine DH cleaned the kitchen window and four glass doors.

I sorted out the plants I had winterised, snipping out the dead leaves, dug out the orchid, palm, tomorite food. Spruced them all up and put in the conservatory thinking no chance of frost now.

Did three more loads of washing. Cleaned the bathroom.

I'm paying this evening my back and hip awful pain.

That's what a few hours of decent daylight can do for me.

This has made me laugh
